[/quote] i don't think anybody's bitter about that.  maybe some people will be bitter if they start winning a bunch of district games, i don't know, as i don't really follow 4A basketball much.  the only reason this is an issue is because it's the softest pre-district schedule most of us have ever seen.  in the long run, i think it will hurt the boys rather than help them.  they have no experience fighting adversity, they have no experience bouncing back from a loss, heck, they don't even have experience playing decent teams.  i just don't see how "learning how to win" against mediocre to awful teams is going to prepare them for the quality teams they're about to face in district.  all that being said, i don't think they're overrated, but under-prepared.

[/quote] nothing to worry about with Silsbee. they're the best team in the area.  if they beat us, as expected, it's not that big of a deal. maybe vidor can get into 21-3A, then they can play HF two more times.  i'm thinking they can go 6-0 against them this year :)

A 4A school play an entire pre-district schedule against really weak teams from lower classifications?  i can understand a few gimme games, but 12 of them?  come on.  not a single game against a 4A or higher program, not even a bad one.

this sucks... i really thought the rangers might snag him.  that being said, the rangers would've won the division without him last season, and he only went 12-9 last year.  he's a fantastic pitcher, but they have enough young talent that i'm hoping that can make it to the playoffs again next season.

they should be gone for the year.  period.

HJ could win.  they obviously aren't the favorite, but would anybody really be all that surprised is Silsbee and HJ split again, like they seem to do every year?

nice bounceback for the hawks against a pretty good 1A school.  i know it's a game they should win, but it's nice to see them do it.

the hawks are finding their rhythm.  considering that Cayuga and Evadale played a tight game, i'm starting to believe some of the hawk supporters who said HJ played poorly against Cayuga.  

i can hear it now.

[/quote] well, they don't really have a choice, do they?  i mean, technically they do, but it's not much of one.  i'm sure there are several who don't like the rule, but what can they do? 

i'm with soulja and scooter on this one.  it's pretty dumb to me to take away a high school or middle schooler's ability to express themselves.  as long as they conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well upon the program, who cares what their hair looks like?  i do like how the kids dress up before the games.  this is one of those rules that reflects well upon the program without affecting the kids outside of basketball. 

i hate to say this, but there needs to be a salary cap.  it's getting out of control.  i don't usually deal with this, but for once there's a marquee pitcher that likes Texas, and they like him back.  so is he going to sign with them?  probably not after the yankees offer him a 7-year deal for around 150 million bucks.  i'm tired of watching the yanks and sox doing all they can to buy championships.

with all due respect, dogs, we hear that every year.  this team is the deepest HJ team that i can remember, and they have some guys who are capable of becoming that go-to player.  HJ very well could have a down year this year, but i don't know what you've seen to base that on.  like lazeek said, they should've beaten a decent 4A LCM, and lost by 2, but that was after playing something like 7 games in the previous 6 days, and then having a several hour drive home from the AP tourney on Sunday.  they've also been without 2 starters.  that's only going to make them stronger, as two younger guys have gotten a ton of playing time to start the year. but hey, i'll take another "down year" if it means 28-30 wins and a run several rounds deep into the playoffs.  we have those types of "down years" every year.
