i can't imagine them letting a soccer game occur there, but who knows.
Why would they not? The field is turf and marked for soccer already ???
nobody likes soccer in BISD, that's why i figured.  as it is, i wasn't far off.  only 9 total soccer games there this year for the 6 varsity programs in the district combined.
 2.
Bullets I guess we will find out tonight, and if you did happen to make the right prediction I will recognize it, but I aspect the same in return.
i'll be more than happy to give you credit if you're right.

 4. here's the deal.  stay on topic.  it's one of the forum rules.  this is a serious sports site, and although soccer may not be the most popular forum on the site, it's still for serious discussion.  any more of this useless back-and-forth and i'll be forced to lock the thread and start handing out warnings.  so, back on topic: Realistically, who is the best player in District 37-4A?
 5. now i'm not trying to take away from the kids.  i know they didn't make the schedule, and i know they've won a bunch of games... but i'm also not going to say they're off to a great start or concede that they can compete consistently with the best teams in their district.  there are about 5-6 teams in this area that coaches get on the schedule to work on things and to get scrubs some playing time, and by the looks of it, vidor has played most of those teams at least twice.  now, again, this is not the kids' faults, but forgive me for not falling all over myself for how great this team is, and for also not letting a 19-1 start factor into my predictions now that they're FINALLY starting to play good teams.  If they beat Ozen, i'll be the first to tip my hat to them.  in fact, i'm the first right now to say that i don't know crap about vidor.  it would just be nice if vidor fans would quit pretending that they somehow do at this point.  you have nothing to base your predictions on, or in JMcShan's case, your knowledge, at this point beyond 1 seven-point loss.
 6. JMcShan, i haven't seen them play, but i have seen the results they've had against an absolutely terrible schedule.  they have some close wins against weak teams, and they have some 10-20 point wins against awful teams.  they also have 0 wins against good teams.  when they have 17 non-district games, and not 1 is against a 4A/5A opponent, i don't think that was something beyond their control.  that was choosing to play in a 1A and two weak 3A tournaments, and choosing to schedule multiple games against teams like community christian and hamshire-fannett instead of trying to schedule against some of the good teams in the area.  heck, 2A/3A teams like Silsbee, HJ, Kountze, WOS, or EC would've been great preparation for this team.  The better teams in this area have played up against higher divisions or high quality opponents from other areas.  even though you may have seen this team beat up on some of (and unimpressively beat others) the worst teams this area has to offer, you don't have any more proof about how good they are or aren't than i do.  You can't look at their schedule and say "Vidor's beaten HF 4 times now, so i know they're good."  That doesn't mean anything.  To be honest, not one of the wins on their schedule is impressive.  And while we're being honest, the best result they've had all season was the close loss to nederland, and that's saying something considering it's their only loss of the season.  So, my prediction of a 15-20 point loss may be ignorant, but any prediction that ANYONE makes right now on this team vs. a quality opponent is based in ignorance, because although people have seen them play, nobody has seen them play more than one good team all year, which is hardly enough to base a future prediction on.
 7. I'll say silsbee jumps out early and builds a nice lead, the hawks come back in the 3rd and early 4th quarter to take the lead, but silsbee pulls away for a 5-10 point win in the end.  i don't like to pick against the hawks, but they're definitely the underdog in this matchup.

 9.
Vidor is much better than I expected and they will give Ozen a game. I don't think, however, that a close game that Vidor loses destroys the theory that playing a weak pre-district schedule will adversely effect Vidor in district play.  IMO the Nederland game may have actually showed what happens when a team having played a weak schedule plays a team that has played a tough schedule.  When it counted the team with the tougher schedule was able to pull out the win and finish.  Vidor was used to playing from the lead and not from behind....not a lot of close games to challenge them them in the preseason.   Vidor is a good team and I believe they will vie for the 4th playoff spot.
AMEN!
 10.

I think Ozen will win this game easily, by 15-20 points.  Since YOU asked for it, i'll tell you why i feel this way.  Vidor has only played one good team all year, and they lost.  Ozen has played a fairly difficult schedule, and they have a very solid team.  I think it's a pretty fair assessment to say that Ozen's WORST non-district opponents are notably better than Vidor's BEST non-district opponents.  that means Ozen will be more than prepared for this game, while Vidor will most likely be unprepared for the talent and speed that Ozen will bring.
Vidor has lost to Nederland. The district champs. I don't think you can come to a conclusion just based off of schedule. Not an accurate one anyways. Vidor has beat the majority of the teams they have played by 15 or more. I think we will just have to see if your prediction is right, and 15 or 20 point victory that is ridiculous and ignorant.
what's ridiculous and ignorant is asking people for their predictions and opinions, and then criticizing them when they give one that you don't like.  it's also ridiculous and ignorant to use the argument that because a team can beat some of the WORST 1A, 2A, and 3A schools in the area  by 15-20 points that they're a good team, or to use the argument that in their only game of the season against a competitive opponent they kept it close in a loss, so they're really good.  i still don't know how good they are.  like i said earlier in the thread, i won't know until maybe halfway through the district when they play their 3rd or 4th quality opponent of the season.  don't ask for people's opinions if you're just going to gripe about them.  i'm curious to see how Vidor does against a solid Ozen team.  there's really NOTHING to look at this season so far to indicate how Vidor will do against a real opponent.

Look past the stupid schedule and go watch them play this team will schock some people in this dristrict trust me on that. If they do lose it wont be no 15 to 20 points.
agree
yeah, and UT football beat Nebraska this year, and won all of their pre-conference games against cupcakes... does that mean they had a good season?  you can't really tell unless you have all the information, and we have very little information about vidor this year, which is my main point.
 12.
Lucas that theory was thrown out of the water after they played Nederland!! Look past the stupid schedule and go watch them play this team will schock some people in this dristrict trust me on that. If they do lose it wont be no 15 to 20 points.
the problem is that 1 game doesn't break a theory.  yes, they played a close game against nederland, and they beat a lumberton team who isn't any better than most of the teams on their pre-district schedule, but until they consistently compete with the quality teams in their district, there's no proof that they can do it. i'm not saying they can't, but they've done nothing on their schedule that i can look at and say "well, judging by these games i think they can compete with anyone in district." so, when this guy asks for predictions, and asks for reasoning behind it, my reasons are merited, and the schedules i showed backs my reasoning and prediction up.  much more so than "vidor wins a close one because they've kicked the crap out of a bunch of 1A, 2A, and 3A teams (and private schools), and lost a fairly close game to the only good opponent they've played all year."  that's not saying that vidor can't win, but which prediction and reasoning holds more water?
 13.
Typical response from someone who hasnt even seen Vidor play ::). Schedule this schedule that whatever  ::)
what else can i go on?  even if i'd been there?  man, that kid really lit up that bad 2A school for 25 points.  this team is good! Non-district schedule comparison for those who don't feel like looking for themselves: Vidor: Hamshire-Fannett (4 times), Community Christian (3 times), Orangefield, Kelly JV, Sabine Pass (2 times), Houston YES prep, Buna, Legacy, K-ville, Bridge City, Jasper Ozen: Memorial, North Forest (2 times), Aldine Nimitz, West Brook (3 times), Silsbee, South Oak Cliff, Lufkin, PNG, S.A. Southwest, S.A. Wagner, McCallum, FB Hightower. Now, tell me again why the most ignorant of posters can't look at this unbelievable discrepancy and use it as a legitimate argument as to why Ozen would win the game.

 15. they're about to finalize the contract.  young said he's willing to make the move to DH/super utility.  texas is going to have a crazy good infield next season.
 16.
Bullets, I live in the Lufkin/Nacogdoches area of East Texas.
gotcha.
 17. realistically, there are many strange last names in the HJ area.  plenty of cajun names, especially.  when thinking of odd last names for HJ basketball, the names Persohn, Ricossa, Gustafson, Villason, etc. are just as weird to me as Prudhomme or Bosha.  I know you didn't mean anything by your question, but some people will look for the opportunity to jump on this kind of thing, especially when you brought up race when it was irrelevant.  that being said, you weren't bringing up race in a racist way.
 18.
And I didnt say you were a holes, I said they were wound tight.  If your going to quote, quote it right.
gotcha.  saw y'all a-holes, when in fact it was y'all's a-holes.  what a difference a " 's " makes.
 19. it was a harmless, yet stupid and pointless question.  it was a non-issue.  what's funny is that he got all pissy about HJ fans being "a-holes" to him after he asked the question, but Bad Santa was the only one who had given him any grief about it. unless the following was rude or inflammatory, which i don't really see:
what equates to an unusual last name?  if it is not smith or jones?  just curious?
20.
Exactly what I expect from HJ, I ask a simple question and they start in with a bunch of crap.  I was just asking a question, yall need to take a xanax down there.  The name is a different black name than most.  I didnt say they were not good people or anything like that.  Man, yalls a-holes must be wound up tight.
you have a chip on your shoulder against HJ.  at the time you made this post, the only person who had given you any static about your question was silsbee-lover Bad Santa.

 23. i think evadale would beat kountze by at least negative 25 if they played again.
 24.
I had alot more respect for HJ before I came on this site.  I thought they were a great program that basketball schools should try to emulate.  I still think they have a great basketball program.
if you're that confused over who ran this thread into the ground then you must be from deeper east texas than i thought...
