  1. Anyone ever do any good?
  2. I wouldn't mind seeing Kentucky lose... But I don't want the aggies to be the ones to do it.
  3. Yup, I watched him too. I've always been a mavs fan.
  4. But I'm in the nfl!!!
  5. Good thing her dad was cool!
  6. Do what? You're going to have to do my research for me.
  7. I was watching a basketball game. You did read my original post right? I said that IF the issue had been the distribution of his book to employees, I would've agreed with the firing (well, depending on how he did it, anyway), but that i in fact disagreed with him being fired for being a Christian who expounded on common Christian beliefs in a book he wrote outside of work. In the same vein, were a homosexual fired for being homosexual, I would disagree. But if the homosexual was fired for forcing literature on his employees regarding his support of homosexuality, I would not have a problem with him being fired.
  8. [Hidden Content] Was my source okay?
  9. I googled it and found it on fox, I believe. Forgive me for not trusting the daily signal. They have a way of slanting the truth at times
  10. legally, it's not her choice. and the only reason I think her mom brainwashed her is because her mom is actually supporting her in this. Name any parent you know who would support their child's decision to die from cancer when Chemotherapy or radiation offered an 85% chance of cure. we're not talking about a case of using chemotherapy or radiation on a terminal case of cancer in an order to live an extra six months. we're talking about an almost 9 to 1 chance of survival.
  11. You guys know I'm liberal when it comes to stuff like this, but I disagree with someone being fired for doing something like this in their own time. Had he been using public resources to print the book I would feel differently. The one thing I DID notice when I looked up an article from a REAL news source is that he got in trouble originally for internal distribution of his book. In my opinion that would have been a very reasonable reason to fire him, as it is NOT okay for a boss to force his beliefs on his employees like that, and it would be reasonable to assume that employees under him who do not share his beliefs would still feel obligated to accept and possibly even read the book out of fear of retribution or losing favor with him. That being said, the reasoning behind the actual termination was based on his beliefs about homosexuality. even though I disagree with many Christians and conservatives with their beliefs and treatment of homosexuals, as long as this guy was not actively discriminating against them in the workplace, I don't see how he can be fired for holding common Christian beliefs and writing a book about them OUTSIDE of work.
  12. as someone who's been there, I don't think it is. I've played soccer through one, and it sucks, but you can still play. soccer was worse, but if the cowboys can hit him hard down low (legally) a couple of times they should relegate him to being only a pocket passer the whole game, which will play hugely in their favor. even if it is just a calf strain, if they can (again, legally) get a couple of good licks in on that leg early, they'll be able to limit his running ability.
  13. I'm fine with this. She has an 85% chance of survival, but has surely been brainwashed by her mom. If your kid got sick, the law does not allow you to take her out in the backyard and shoot her. This would've been essentially the same thing.
  14. He complied and wasn't shot. The cop states that multiple times. Had he turned and raised the gun towards the officers, he would be dead, and the website you're citing would not be talking about it because it would not go along with their propaganda. I'm curious, if the kid had on a ski mask (and likely a jacket and long pants this time a year), do you honestly think the cop knew the kid's race before he had him disarmed and handcuffed?
  15. Weisbrod is shooting .667 through 10 games. Lamar wasn't looking for that type of weak sauce... ;)
  16. this is all correct. IMO, I don't think Mariotta will EVER become a quality qb in the NFL. He might become a serviceable backup or one of these starters that plays 2-3 seasons on a terrible team and you never hear from them again, but I don't see him excelling. If a team is dead-set on drafting one or the other, Jameis has to be the guy. Personally, if my team needed a qb, I'd just prefer them give it a year and see what their options are.
  17. yeah right. but still, glad they didn't call it. just like the pass interference in the cowboys game, some flags are better left unthrown ;)
  18. The only reason I made reference in my response to race at all was because you brought it up. I can't speak for anyone else. Based on your comments, i honestly think you have me confused with someone else, because I don't recall ever being on the opposite side of an argument with you here before, in this forum or elsewhere.
  19. Since I'm so incredibly dense, please explain what some cops stopping you and treating you rudely 30 years ago before letting you go on your way has to do with people getting killed today while resisting arrest. Because you're right, I don't comprehend your point.
  20. you type a lengthy post trying to "shed some light on this topic through your experiences with the police", but don't state what "this topic" is. now the thread was going in the direction of some folks trying to once again act like police are going open season on blacks, while giving whites the benefit of the doubt when it came to using force, with tvc giving several numbers stating otherwise, and one guy providing a SINGLE case that didn't even prove his point. At this point, you jump in with a narrative from 35 years ago about how you were treated badly by a couple of cops, when you were a juvenile running around in the middle of the night. Now, by your own words, this story should've shed some light on the issue we were debating (which was about running from the cops and use of force by cops), but your story was set in 1980 or so Port Arthur, didn't involve running from the cops OR a use of force. So if I misinterpreted the point you were trying to make there, I apologize, but you sort of strayed from what we were talking about and left us to try and interpret your meaning. At the end you FINALLY address the issue at hand, saying a few things that made sense. But the overall feel of the post was that when blacks resist cops and are killed, you still feel it's the cops fault. Sorry if I'm reading that wrong, but I don't know how else to interpret a story attempting to prove how crappy cops are.
  21. This is great and all, but in the article, the same guy who says that they missed the blatant hold against Suh (who the NFL ended up letting play after he should've been suspended) also says the Pass Interference against Hitchens was debatable. So you show that the refs miss another call, except he says they might not have missed the first one. I'd also argue there are blatant holds on the majority of plays that do not get called. It almost has to be super-blatant to draw a flag.
  22. quote name="NDNation" post="1619788" timestamp="1420554214"] [Hidden Content] Morrelli explains overturned call. Why is everyone hating on America's Team :D [/quote] Lots of whining on ESPN. What Dez did was not a penalty by the rule of the law. And it's amazing how many people say things like "Learn the rulebook, what he did was CLEARLY a penalty", and then they mis-cite a rule. I saw on Deadspin where someone listed all rules in their entirety that people were quoting as to why Dez should've been flagged for coming onto the field, when in fact none of the rules applied to him. Lots of crybabies. Seriously. Of course, I would be saying the same thing had that sequence gone against Dallas.
  23. I'm not really sure how the police were supposed to determine that you were in your own neighborhood, where everyone knew who you were, and not committing a crime, without stopping and talking to you. I don't question you on the treatment you received, I obviously wasn't there, so i'll take your word for it. of course, you're using something that happened to you thirty or more years ago as justification for people running from the police or not trusting them today. That doesn't make much sense to me. Neither does the belief that police officers should not stop and talk to a group of juveniles in a crime filled area if they're out roaming the streets in the middle of the night to make sure they aren't up to something they shouldn't be. I had an officer pull into my driveway WAAAAAAY out in the country when I was in high school and talk to me and a friend because we were wandering around the yard in the middle of the night. It didn't matter that I was white, or that I was on (MY) private property. The officer saw a couple of kids that MAY have been up to no good and took it upon himself to make sure we weren't doing something we shouldn't have been. As it was, I wasn't doing anything wrong, but I was also respectful. Had I run away, anything might have happened.
  24. He may or may not be right about global warming. but if he pointed out that it was over 90 degrees in a majority of the US the first week of August, and said that it was proof that he's correct, you'd call him a quack. not sure how you can do the same thing in January and it's a legit point.
