  2. I can if you're trying to pat the GOP's back for something that happened in the 1860s. With your political beliefs, you would've been a staunch democrat when each of the events that you're praising the GOP for perpetrating occurred.
  3. Anyone not blinded by ideology.
  4. It's accurate. What's not accurate is your historical knowledge. Between 1864 and 1920 the parties effectively switched platforms. Before that, republicans were big government and social rights, while democrats were for small government and anti-rights. Republicans and democrats of today bear little resemblance to the parties you're referencing.
  5. If God can create someone like Millet Harrison, who's mental disabilities led him to eat his mom, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities that someone could be born wired to be a bad person.
  6. More compelling than the right's stance.
  7. The same way you and I were born straight. Unless you had to make a choice? For me it never was. I hit a certain age, and I became attracted to girls. There was never even a consideration to do anything different. I couldn't make myself be attracted to man even if I tried.
  8. I would assume so, but have had no firsthand conversations with a transgender. Having had dozens with homosexuals, I have much more information to offer an answer/speak for that group of people.
  9. You're correct. In a society where we have laws to protect animals that are often as strict as those to protect humans, I'm just not real concerned about it.
  10. Again, this is not a real story. And while I do remember our previous conversations on the subject, that is still a far cry from this (fake) article about someone claiming to have been raped by an animal.
  11. I agree with you. Based on the interview with him, I think it was a case of poor judgement in trying to teach a lesson, rather than an attempt to politicize his classroom. That being said, you'll be held accountable for poor decisions when you're in a job as important as his.
  12. I can't claim to be overly educated on that subject. While I have taken the time to discuss homosexuality with several gay people, I have not personally known any transgenders, and have not had conversations with them.
  13. You'll have to forgive me for not reading the 119 page document you provided. Of the Ten Commandments, only 3 of them have laws that line up with them, and those are laws that are enforced universally around the world, whether the country is a Christian country or not.
  14. I base my opinion on personal conversations with a couple of dozen homosexuals. It's always interesting to see what conservatives base their opinions on for this issue.
  15. While I support the freedom of speech aspect of stepping on the flag (not that I agree with it), as a teacher I also feel strongly that it is inappropriate and irresponsible to bring personal politics and beliefs into your classroom. That being said, after reading the article, I don't believe that was his intention. He was trying to teach about free speech, not showing an actual hatred towards the flag. I respect the school board's decision, but would not have been outraged as some would had they voted to reinstate him.
  16. No. People are born gay. They are not born polygamists.
  17. Our laws are not based on the 10 commandments, although a couple of them line up.
  18. Nash, for a man of your intelligence, you sure seem to take "news" from any source at face value as long as you feel it validates your stance. This is not a real article. I'm not talking about one of the biased opinion "news" pieces that are posted on here, but a complete hoax. But even if it were real, are you claiming that you told me that if gays were allowed to marry it would cause a redneck with mental issues to claim to have been raped by a farm animal? I do not recall this prediction.
  19. A reasonable post. I would counter this by saying that I have a problem with any law that keeps someone from living their life how they want that is based on lawmakers' religious beliefs.
  20. Heterosexual sinful sex is the same. Movies, television, commercials, etc. people making out in the streets, sex in public places. It's not like this is exclusive to, or even close to more common, in homosexuality.
  21. Nah. Every judge has a conflict of interest on every ruling. It's called their personal beliefs. And they (both conservative and liberal) use their personal beliefs and affiliations to dictate their rulings nearly every time.
  22. Wait, are you saying Palin isn't. She judges one group publicly for their sexual sin, but doesn't have anything to say about her daughter committing a different sexual sin (again). You're right, she's not a hypocrite, she's a beacon of light for Christ.
  23. Wait, are you saying Palin isn't a hypocrite?
  24. Why not? She doesn't have any problem berating others publicly that don't conform to her belief systems.
