They're right on track for the mythical national championship he predicted for 2018!

An hour and 15 minutes into my 5-day draw hunt I killed a nice buck. 130 4/8 gross 10-point with an 18.5 inch spread. They've got some absolute giants out here, but I couldn't pass up a deer of that quality on the off-chance of seeing something better. I actually saw one that may have been bigger about 30 minutes into the hunt, but couldn't get a shot. I'll see if I can get TVC to post a picture

I'll say this... I'm glad to see them not overly punished for playing a very tough schedule to this point. The LCM loss is a bad one. Other than that, you've got losses to 2A #1 Big Sandy (and i believe Big Sandy would be ranked #1 if they were in 3A as well), 4A #23 Hudson twice, 4A #21 HJ, and a good 5A playoff team in Nederland. But still, 8-6 doesn't look very good on paper, and i'm surprised they haven't dropped at least a little bit.

Also, how is Kountze still #2?

HJ getting a little love! I wonder if my creating a maxpreps account and updating their scores and record had anything to do with it. I hear that's one of the main tools used to create the rankings.

Thursday night i believe i'll have to head over after work. Brock/Kountze, Big Sandy/Nederland, and then getting to watch my hawks play to wrap up the night. that's tough to beat!

After leading much of the game HJ fell 60-46 to 6A New Braunfels in the championship game of the Best of the Bay. New Braunfels moves to 8-1 on the year, and HJ drops to 7-3.

Central lost to silsbee, central beat ozen, and silsbee dropped a couple of games. Gonna be some interesting polls this week

Big Sandy could move up a classification and still compete for a state championship. Not too often you can say that about a team.

I think he had decided that he was trying to stay healthy for college football. Believe I heard last year he would not be playing this year for that reason.

Not surprised that Nederland won, but I'm a bit surprised that they did it so comfortably.

It was a joke... But seriously, it's hard to imagine some big, tough 300-lb lineman playing football for the unicorns, when that is generally a mascot reserved for girls' youth sports teams.

not true. My neice's U-6 soccer team had that mascot a couple of seasons back

New Braunfels is 7-1 on the season, and a good team, but their mascot is a unicorn, meaning I can't decide if there is shame in losing to them or not if the Hawks don't prevail.

HJ defeated a solid Abilene team 84-81 to advance to the finals. They'll face New Braunfels in the finals. A really nice win over a big, athletic team.
