His stance on immigration is a good one for a republican trying to win nomination. Offer a path to citizenship, but immigrants must stay off government handoffs, must work, and must stay out of jail. -
We're 36 comments in and i've only seen one conservative out of maybe 10 that has displayed any knowledge on the subject at all. I pointed out that a very conservative, and generally very "in the know" commenter on this site admits to not knowing about it as validation that it's obviously not common knowledge for all conservatives as you'd have us believe. He's the type of guy who knows all the issues, and has strong opinions about them. If he's unfamiliar with this one, then there are a LOT of folks unfamiliar with it. As for the authors of this "newspiece", they spent 1000 words talking about how terrible Obama is for supporting this issue, but spend ZERO words explaining what the issue is. Riling up the readers without informing the readers. That's mindless sheep fodder. and speaking of ASSuming... Please tell me where you came up with the ASSumption that 99% of conservatives already know what net neutrality is. If they're getting their knowledge from articles like the one posted in this thread, they won't know a single thing about it. It seems highly unlikely that 99% of the conservatives on this thread know what it is... a few have expressed questions, one admitted ignorance on the topic, and only ONE has displayed any obviously knowledge on the subject at all.

I appreciate your honesty. And that being said, I respect the fact that you generally have your finger on the pulse of current issues, even if you and I may butt heads on them from time to time. So if you aren't familiar with the issue, then I think it's safe to say that many, if not most folks aren't familiar with it either. And this is the whole point of my issue with this article... I don't have a problem with someone having a stance one way or the other on this issue, but I do have a problem with a propaganda site spending this much time and effort into riling up their readers without making ANY effort to actually educate their readers on the issue. This article is fodder for mindless sheep.
-
I highly doubt that 30% of the conservatives reading the article know what it is, and if they do, they have a knowledge of it based on information gleaned from low information articles such as this one.
-
pretty typical article from one of these websites: riles up the conservative reader without explaining what is happening or why? A whole article bashing the net neutrality movement and its supporters, but no explanation as to what it actually is. Not that any of their readers need an explanation to hate something Obama's behind.

Wouldn't mind seeing him in Dallas.

As a texas rangers fan, I'm glad to see another huge Angels investment not paying off. -
Interesting stat: Russell Westbrook had a triple double last night, and is currently on pace to finish the season averaging 26 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds a game. A player has finished a season with those numbers only ten times in the history of the NBA. Michael Jordan did it once, LeBron James did it once, and Oscar Robertson did it EIGHT times. Pretty amazing how when we talk about all-time greats he never comes into the discussion.

Man, that sucks for him. -
Did you read the link I posted? Espn has them in right now. They're 17-10, but they don't really have a bad loss. They probably needed to win at least 1 of the next two though.

DOJ set to announce NO charges in Zimmerman case
bullets13 replied to bullets13's topic in Political Forum
it's really not. what's surprising to me is the amount of time, energy, and money that the DOJ wasted investigating a case that they knew without a doubt they'd never be able to file charges on. -

1st round pick and maybe a 4th for a guy who's been the best RB in the league for almost a decade. sounds like a pretty good deal. And I don't think he'll command as much as murray will after the season murray just had, combined with the lack of a season AP just had. -
I can post numerous links, but none that won't be poo pooed on here because they didn't come from western journalism. Just google "is gay a choice?" And you'll find all the reading material you want.
-
Science is showing that there are certain common gene characteristics in homosexuals. But I'm sure it's just coincidence.
-
What I would find very inconvenient would be completely denying my very strong, ingrained sexual desires to make a "choice" that will cause me to endure the scrutiny and descrimination that homosexuals face. "Born that way" makes a lot more sense. It's also pretty convenient to base your beliefs on religion without taking into account anything that homosexuals have to say on the matter.

Enlightened- I know how much you like scientific evidence

I said people are born homosexuals.
-
Sure, why not?
-
As for comparing homosexuality to drug use: if your theory that everyone is born straight is correct, someone is choosing to ignore the strongest urges that we have to make a "choice" that will make them an outcast. As much as I've always liked girls, I can't imagine ANY reason to make the choice to be gay, even if there weren't a myriad of social stigmas and discriminations associated with the choice. Drug use is a lot different. People do drugs because they make them feel good. They make them forget their problems. They're trying to be cool. Their friends do it. And then they get hooked. That's a lot different issue than homosexuality, where you can get the exact same gratification through much more socially acceptable means, namely straight sex.
-
You're comparing apples to rocks. And the difference between your theory and mine is that I've known dozens of homosexuals, and have talked to many of them about this topic to become more educated about it since I debate it so often. Most of the people I've met with theories similar to yours would never take the time to talk to homosexuals about their sexuality, because their mind is already made up.
