  1. Probably 58. I’m assuming OF didn’t score 16 in the last 2:30
  2. I’m not really seeing anything that Connally has done to make me think this game will be close. I’ll say Yates 91, Connally 64.
  3. Looking at Lincoln’s four losses, they’re #10 in 5A (in the state tourney), and #6 and #7 in 6A, plus another 6A school that went 27-9. So maybe they’re as scary as argyle.
  4. I did notice a couple of common opponents with argyle, who scare me the most. Pretty much all 7 of their losses are close losses to 6A schools. The lost to Marcus and Boswell like HJ, but by 3 and 5 points. HJ lost to those teams by 19 and 14. Argyle plays slow, methodical games, which is not really HJs style. I’m hoping if the hawks advance they play Lincoln.
  5. HJ definitely drew the opponent that I hoped they would. While unranked, Burnet is 31-7 on the season, and there are no bad teams left at this stage. They beat some good teams on their way to state, but as best I can tell they came out of the weakest region. Many of their 7 losses aren’t great, with several losses to teams with bad records (and a loss to a 2A school, albeit one with a 38-1 record) while all of HJs came to competition with winning records (6A #4 Jersey Village, 6A Flower Mound Marcus, 5A Boswell with a 31-7 record, and 6A #17 Frenship). I didn’t want HJ to draw Argyle or Dallas Lincoln, ranked 4 and 5, because drawing one meant they probably have to beat both to win a championship. I like the hawks’ chances in this one, and I’ll take them 74-59.
  6. Congrats, hawks! Is this the first time they’ve gone to state since 2001? I didn’t keep up with them much after I graduated that year
  7. Wow! Thought this would be a little closer
  8. HJ 71 Fairfield 54
  9. On paper tomorrow should be an easier game. Fairfield has a worse record than heritage, lost to them head to head, and had several close games against teams with losing records. That being said, Fairfield had a solid result against Silsbee.
  10. I see that run I was talking about happened
  11. Looks like a game of runs. OF needs one to start the second half.
  12. Just gotta hold them off now.
  13. Sheesh. Come on tigers!
  14. Great point. The hawks have found a way to play Silsbee dang near even in 3 of 4 halfs this year. I’m not at all trying to find some moral victory, just kinda making the point that they’ve certainly shown they can hang with more talented teams.
  15. Anything can happen. I expect Yates to win by 20+, but I expected silsbee to win by 20+ in both meetings against HJ this year as well. If HJ gets hot from deep, is smart with the ball, and doesn’t fall into Yates’ style of play, they have a chance (although not a big one) to beat them.
  16. Doing a little research, heritage has only broken 60 points in 7 out of 38 games this year. They beat #12 Lorena tonight 34-22. They’re 33-5 on the year, obviously play a slow, methodical style. HJ is a much more offensive team. I’m assuming HJ will have a big advantage in athleticism and on the offensive end, but they could struggle against a defensive style they’re not used to playing against often.
  17. Argyle popped into my head because they make state in a lot of stuff. Googled them, and Wikipedia says in 2015 they won state in baseball, boys golf, volleyball, and girls basketball.
  18. Let’s go Nederland!
