Coach McDermand is a buddy of mine. He’s done an incredible job over at Huffman. He started a new program there last year, and they went 2-19-1. In his second year he’s got them at 19-5, and at least three rounds deep into the playoffs. I don’t know what criteria they use to decide these things, but I’d argue that he has a very strong case for state 4A coach of the year.

They took their time starting the 2nd game, and now we’re in a lightning delay. Tied 12 minutes into the game, each team has had a good chance. I’m going home.

Jasper up 3-0 at the half. They’ve hit the post a couple of times as well. They’re very impressive for a 4a girls side, especially considering the size of their town. Their turns and first touch are really good, and they’re basically just wall passing up the field around Huffman.

How crazy is this year’s tourney? I’m in a bracket group with 24 people, my pick to win went out in the round of 32, and if Kansas and Loyola win their games I’ll win the group.

Didn’t expect that after the Ags’ performance against UNC.

That’s a heck of an achievement and career!

I think Mike said carter was close to 60% from three, and that was before they hit the two late. I bet if you’d told carter they’d hit almost 2/3 of the 3s they took they would’ve thought they’d win in a blowout. What an unbelievable night from the FT line for the tigers! If they’d shot 66%, a number most fans would probably take, they would’ve lost by 7 or 8!

Carter is definitely a step up from the opponent today. Silsbee could’ve had a bad game today or gotten into foul trouble and still won. If silsbee has a bad game against carter, they could definitely lose. I still definitely expect them to pull it out, but carter is a really solid team.
