  1. The coach plays a huge part in it. You started this thread with a bunch of questions asking people's opinions, and have now spent 4 pages refuting those opinions while trying to insist everyone agree with your own. I'm not really sure why i took the time to read through the thread, to be honest.
  2. My stepdad is really good friends with his grandpa, so he and my mom have been following him for years. It's not my thing, but it's obvious he's very talented.
  3. I don't really understand how Wal-Mart isn't losing billions in thefts. There are a lot of people that there are going to walk out with stuff, not scan everything, etc. that bag checker is only hitting a small percentage of people, and isn't checking that hard. Even if he does catch someone, he isn't going to try and stop someone from running.
  4. Wonder where all of their good players are going...
  5. soured corn works, regular corn works. you can put diesel on the corn and they like that too.
  6. I hate what soccer has become at HJ. Since McDermand left they've been a laughingstock.
  7. yup, so should he drop them down below the two teams they just lost to?
  8. I wouldn't put money on HJ making it that far, but this is definitely the easiest road they've had since 4A somehow became a big city classification. Silsbee way down, Yates way down, and HJ holding steady or a a little bit up. There are plenty of solid teams in the region, but for the past several years HJ was so far behind Yates and Silsbee that they literally had no chance of advancing past either one if they met them. Now HJ is a heavy favorite against Silsbee (this year, at least), and looking at Yates' schedule and results they've run up a great record against a very weak schedule, and had some very close results against some very mediocre teams. They're beatable. Obviously they're still a favorite against HJ, but it's not a pipedream to think HJ has a chance if they meet up, which is a big change from the (expected) 50-point drubbing Yates put on them last year. I'm kind of excited that the region has a little bit of the old small school playoff to it this year knowing that it's not a sure thing that a houston team is advancing out.
  9. I don’t disagree, but as an HJ homer I don’t put much weight in thumping what basically amounts to Silsbee’s jv. It’s a little different at higher levels where you have more basketball only players and a bigger pool to choose from while waiting for the football players
  10. My cousin’s son is a freshman at harleton and got to suit up for the game. I told them it would be bad, but didn’t expect it to be THIS bad.
  11. You’ve got it all wrong. It was one of his players raping the freshman cheerleader under the bleachers. Uncle Artie had plenty of time to escort the player because all he had to do was make sure he “didn’t hear about” the bleachers incident.
  12. Regardless of the outcome, it feels like Dubois has the hawks trending back in the right direction after some growing pains last season in his first year back
  13. The same ones refusing to wear a mask will be the same ones crying when it all gets shut down.
  14. I suck at cooking, so... Mac n cheese with sliced up hot dogs, I guess.
  15. Done.
  16. Where do you play? Is it legal now, or are you doing home games with friends? I get the occasional invite to a private online game, but would love to get on a site.
  17. I think the one number I’ve seen that puts it all into perspective was when I was looking at the numbers in Dallas county (where my dad, stepmom, and sister live). From September to March they had 17 flu deaths throughout the county. This was with people not taking precautions, not social distancing, the usual poor hygiene, refusal of many to get a flu shot, etc. With all of the precautions taken for coronavirus, and many people not leaving the house to avoid getting it, there have been 17 Covid deaths in 15 days in Dallas county. We’re seeing in New York what can happen if the virus spreads unchecked for a time before precautions are put in place. Nearly 700 deaths there yesterday, over 10,000 new cases diagnosed, most in and around NYC. If we did nothing, and experienced similar outbreaks in all major cities, we’d be looking at a death toll nationwide in the tens of thousands until the virus ran its course, many of which would be a result of overwhelming the healthcare system. That’s a scary proposition.
  18. I know 4, one death. A couple others who probably have/had it but weren’t tested. I also have several family and friends who would be high risk if they get sick, including all four of my parents. We’re doing what we can and not taking any chances.
