HJ has missed a couple of layups. Silsbee with a 3. 36-29 -

Could play huge down the stretch if the hawks can make their free throws -

Let’s go, OF! Would love to be proven wrong on this one. Seems like they’re dictating the pace well -

I’m not surprised. I will be surprised if the tigers don’t wear them down in the second half and pull away some. It takes a lot of energy breaking the press every possession, and the tigers are so deep and can keep throwing in fresh talent -

Tigers defensive adjustment gave the hawks fits. HJ was the better team in the 1st quarter, but Silsbee was even better in the 2nd. -

Silsbee up 29-27 with 1:30 left in the half. They’ve extended their half court defense to the volleyball line and HJ hasn’t handled it well -

Really impressive quarter from the hawks on the offensive end. Had about 7 layups, and almost all out of the set offense. -

Brookeland 58 vs. Martinsville 61/FINAL
bullets13 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
how did Brookeland improve from 8-23 a year ago to 28-5 this year? -
It's always funny when I read any of these threads and people talk about paying Surratt. He could have any open job in the state of Texas, but people think he's gonna come coach PNG or Vidor or Bridge City, or whatever. If he were to go anywhere, I'd imagine it would be to a 6A school in Dallas or Houston. He's certainly not coming to SETX just because some school is willing to pay him $25K more a year than he's making now.

Hate to see what it does to Disney's prices. They were already astronomical. -

You’re right. Missed that when I was scrolling through their schedule. -
Hitchcock vs Orangefield Predictions
bullets13 replied to Elessar's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Hitchcock hasn’t lost a game to a 3A and under opponent this year, and has several wins over 4A and 5A schools. They beat #6 Shallowater by 5, and their next closest game against a 3A school was their 23-point win over #23 Diboll last round. They’re the real deal. Orangefield has looked good in the playoffs so far, but it’s going to be a struggle to keep this one within 15. -

I can arrange for the Hamshire Fannett intermediate gym to be open Tuesday night. Seats almost 40, and the gym is about 2/3 regulation size. Would be a fast-paced game. -
Silsbee vs Hardin Jefferson Playoffs Predictions
bullets13 replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I expect Silsbee to win by 15-20. That said, if they come out flat like they have a few times lately (LCM and Jacksonville), HJ has a shot to keep it close. The hawks have really been playing well this year. The hawks will have to care of the ball, and Samaha is going to have to have a big game if the hawks are going to sniff an upset. -

Ref just gave CH 3 free throws, they made two to cut it to two. Ref 6 feet from the shooter didn’t call it, the ref all the way across the court plus 15 ft behind it called it -

Yikes -
The biggest differences between Vidor and Liberty Hill have nothing to do with small discrepancies in how they run the same offense. `

Manvel had the lead at the half. Did manvel blow an 8 point lead late, and then inexplicably foul BH on a desperation half court heave in OT up 2? If so, then BH shouldn’t have won. They got beyond lucky. In no way am I discrediting them. They’re an extremely good team. But in your post I quoted originally, the logic was flawed. Taking two games and using that as your basis for BH being better didn’t really make sense. Honest question: if that Manvel player hadn’t completely lost her mind and fouled on the half court shot, and BH lost, would that mean HJ is the better team now? Like I said, I think they’re very close. But HJ has had the better results for the season. And BH playing in a 5A district is pretty irrelevant, because it’s a very bad district that HJ would’ve gone undefeated in as well. Regardless, I’m rooting for both teams to keep winning and moving on. They’re both excellent teams, facing excellent competition this week.
