Did build Veterans from the ground up…

As a group of upper middle class communities that make up BHISD, I’d expect the district to do well in academics and sports that benefit from club participation (which is easier to afford and participate in with a greater family income) than a sport which relies heavily on team speed. You can teach schemes. You can get stronger. You can’t teach speed. How does the BH track team do in speed events? Add on top of that an Admin that may meddle in football more than other sports because of their background, and it may (I accentuate ‘may’) make it more difficult from the football aspect. Don’t forget, the previous two HFCs that were let go in a less than amicable fashion were also ADs. Don’t they get any credit for helping the other successful sports? Doesn’t an AD help support ALL sports activities?

His coaching (with a different DC than he had at BH) along with Lufkin’s typical speed could be lethal. He was never gonna be very successful at BH. BH has issues from the top down. Doesn’t matter who the coach is…

The regular Board meeting is tomorrow night @ 6:30.
-
Yes and yes. The Super will hire himself. After all, he wants the job more than any candidate so far, and he’s obviously more qualified as he wants to tell previous coaches what to do. As a bonus, he won’t have any issues with playing his son. Problem solved. 😁😁😁
-
Wouldn’t say that myself. Would say possibly the most gullible hire in TX HS football history…unless it’s just a short timer. I’m just assuming they have someone already as the reason for the 5 day posting. It may well be that a consulting firm will be hired & an official search begin after Board approval at the meeting. Same 5 day time frame.
-
Has Barbers Hill ever promoted from within, or has it always been a wholesale changeout?
-
Can assume by the posting it isn’t an internal promotion. Posting is obviously a formality that’s required. Will be a current/former HC from another program. At least the new person will have a little more time to get acclimated & begin to evaluate & structure the program before the last minute. I wish them luck. This has been a tough position to keep longer term.
-
A candidate may already be picked and agreed upon, and this just is the mandatory posting. I assume the HC/AD will also have a cert to teach which requires posting in public in some fashion. Usually, it’s 10 day minimum. I think it can be less in certain instances. But, don’t quote me on it. Been a while since I’ve been involved in Board matters, and districts can vary also.

Saw the open position posting went up today. Looks like a 5 day posting. Said ‘open until filled’, so not sure if the 5 days will be extended as needed or what. Pay commensurate with experience.

The live cam view is pretty cool right now with the snow… The stadium is barely a quarter mile from Galveston Bay.

Should have a wager going on who is first: Abseck with a new job. BHISD with a new HC. My $$$ is on #1.
-
I don’t think the $$$ is the issue now. Now, it’s down to trust & respect.
-
Can’t say how all—or even most—do it. Will say, many times, the Super gets input from other stakeholders even if soliciting on their own. Not sure that’s happening in this case. Agree with your last. Just guessing; but, I’d think many of the BH faithful would agree. History hasn’t been on the side of the former for BHISD under this Admin. At least, not if you want some continuity for program stability.
-
If the Board doesn’t do the latter, it’s time for the interested parties in town to replace more than just the Super. This isn’t reflecting well on the community or the ISD—one of the largest employers in Chambers County.
-
Not surprising. Actually think it might be a good thing. Maybe it will force the School Board to reevaluate how the Administration goes about some of it’s business. This is becoming really interesting. Intrigued on how it will wind up.
-
Might be in a similar situation as LP. Yes. A lot of people have moved in the new subdivisions and apartments. But, what I’ve seen are a lot of younger families with younger kids. Not high school age yet.
-
Hey! Don’t knock it. We’re educating AI. 🤣
-
How interesting it would be if Abseck got the Lufkin job & wound up competing in 9-5A again…🤔🤨

BHISD was successful & rated highly before he arrived, and will continue after he’s gone as long as the City Planners, Council, Mayor, Manager set criteria for new homes to start in the range they start now & above. That limits the people that can afford to live in the area & is a subtle—often forgotten/unknown—way of selectively keeping a community a certain economic/demographic level. Well known that parents of better means have children that perform better scholastically.
-
I can see some of that. But, my understanding is the last two AD/HC’s didn’t leave of their own accord, and one (Westerberg) took another AD position with—presumably—decent pay fairly quickly thereafter. The other hasn’t had a chance yet. So, not sure that’s the full story. To me, there’s something else going on also. JMHO
