This coach is stupid plain and simple. There is not an administration out there that could support this action. If a school employee suspects something like this they should immediately contact the campus administrator. At that point law enforcement should be notified by the school. Schools are civil and police are judicial. Even the cops when they do a sting have the higher ups know what is happening.

No reason to ever throw out how many hours people work or don't work. These guys accept the fact it takes long hours even though the pay may not be the greatest.

Anyone else notice the "big schools are unfair" clamoring has died down since HF and KV are doing well? This week's Jasper game will help clear the picture. Silsbee and HJ are already expected to lose. Silsbee has to win 3 of the next 4. Good to see the Jasper/Silsbee game meaning something again.

No coaching change iminent and no real reason for one. While coach does like his old school veer he has allowed a change to the spread. It has been a big boost since the Newton game.

PNG and HF have the blueprint to beat the Tigers...... no turnovers and I-formation pounding the middle. If you do that you will be seeing 2nd and 3 all night. Silsbee offense is very good but the center of the def is suspect. With the young squad I felt Silsbee would be a boom or bust team. So far they either blow folks out or get blown out themselves. Hope for a good game.

Silsbee had Splendora in the 1st round last season.

As I said congrats to HF, they deserved the win and played hard. Not going to take anything away from them and hope they continue to do well. As far as your hypocrite statement, get your facts straight....Silsbee's 3rd string qb was even running tds in on the young BC squad. You can't really kneel with 4-5 minutes left that scored definitely could have been worse..

With the exception of the special teams scoring twice, it was a good close game with HF.

HF did exactly what they needed to do to win. Ball control. You can't win when the opponent constantly has 2nd and 3. Special teams was the difference. The only complaint I have was the ending. When under a minute,your opponent has no timeouts, you have a 1st, up by 2 scores, but you insist on sticking it in for another. Some people probably don't care and in the end it didn't matter in the game, but that kind of stuff can come back on you later down the road. Congrats HF.

I know you PNG/Nederland fans are obviously giddy, but I'll be glad when channel 6 can get past this week and decides to cover some other area schools. When a television sportscaster is asking which shirts are selling more at a store....c'mon. Several other key games going on besides this one. I bet the Buna and Kountze crowds would like some lovin' too. Magic 8 ball has it being close with a late turnover helping the Injuns by 2.

There was a modified formula for those kids. They counted like a 1/2 or something to that effect.

Why is WOS losing kids so fast? I talked to some OF folks today and was told they have not been getting any. LCM or BC up? Losing 200 kids in under 3 years is a very odd trend. I know the general area is fixing to have growth with the new jobs. I have a friend fixing to build approximately 50 new apartments in BC.

That definitely would be different. In regards to the plan, you'd think they would want a 2/3rds majority support for something this radical. Many around here view it as a "savior" of sorts, but we probably really need to view this from beyond our backyard. In reality we just need our mega 3A district split. If we were still using the districts from 4 years ago you'd have WOS,HF, and HJ leading the way with OF and BC a year or so away. In the other, Silsbee and K'ville, the biggest and littlest, with everyone else going for the other spot. I don't know if the current scheme is so far outdated as much as the district just being too deep.

Off topic a bit but I was at the state bball tournament when Sutherland led Kountze to their first finals appearance. I vividly remember a dominant Gaineville team beat Kountze. Ignorant fans including a girls bball asst coach blasted Sutherland and called for his firing due to that loss. I remember a petition at one point. People want to know why Todd left? When a program enjoys success at the level WOS has in football and Kountze has in bball the fans become spoiled. On one hand we have a possible drastic change with the UIL on the horizon just so a few weaker schools can make the playoffs occassionally and on the other a perennial powerhouse that some folks get beside themselves when the don't make the semi-finals. Crazy.

....at least a few understand reality. Nothing worse than sitting in the stands by self proclaimed supercoaches. Congrats on last week's win.

So far Vidor, BC, and now WOS fans are questioning their teams' leadership. What is the deal in OC this year? ???

The most successful hs coach in the area and we still have folks who think they know more.......sad. I am definitely not a WOS fan, except when they play Kirbyville, but give the man respect. He only has one of the highest winning percentages ever in Texas hs football along with a few state titles, but I suppose those are nothing compared to the 16th Street Championship. :-*

When hs players are costing their teams millions if they miss a game to injury then you will see a rule change. :PRoy and others have always tackled that way but it wasn't until the high dollar/high profile players got hurt did it matter to the NFL.

Silsbee was around 860 about a week ago. Here's another tidbit, Kountze was at 411 two weeks ago. That would put Kountze 4 kids from 3A under the current enrollment numbers. I know this is football but imagine a bball league with Kountze,HJ, and Silsbee.

After the miscues and thumpings Silsbee received from PNG and Newton they should be happy to just be improving and gaining confidence.

Personally I would be happy with being 3rd. Just to make the playoffs with this young squad would be great. Whether Silsbee wins district or barely scraps by, they still play the DI opponent.

That would definitely change the complexion of the whole thing. If true surely at some point tongues will begin flapping and info leaks out.

This is ridiculous. Just as I said to someone in another conversation......all a school board or superintendent really needs to do is go to (insert stadium here) and find section E, row 15, and talk to seat # 13 or #17. I'm sure whoever this individual is surely must have more superior knowledge than any scrub coach possibly could.

Didn't look like the poster had in any way acted like some of the Kirbyville folks. He merely stated he felt "I think they have a shot ". No jabs were made, no derogatory statements about the other team, no nonsense, it was just a regular post.
