1. No need to keep him from playing in Vidor.  Let the kid play.  I know there are "problems" but maybe baseball maybe only outlet for kid.  So many people would rather focus on negatives, that's easy to do in anything. We ALL can think of someone we know &how they got another chance, and FINALLY made the best of it.  Sometimes it takes the right boot going in the right place to make a difference from the right person. That's what I hope for this kid.  Talented, he needs to be on a baseball field, even if it's against us.
2. Nederland lost a tough one.... :( Brown really puts in the field.  We are lucky to have him in Nederland. Need to bring it together quickly, we don't want to be on the other end, every other game.
3. I like the additions to my post... our faith is so important to us! It is that Faith that reminds us if we don't love others, the love of God is not in us.  (Read this in THE Bible this week). Sometimes it's hard to realize that on a baseball field/league.  I know that my kids watch me in every circumstance in life, including my attitudes, actions, words at  baseball events/games and other sporting events.  I do have a tend to get LOUD at basketball (never negative, though).   It's how I deal with adversity that they remember the most. Hope any of the words can encourage someone, lighten the tensions to a baseball league, turn people to the heart of their community  -    their families..... I LOOOOOVE BASEBALL,  MOST importantly, I love God.  And wish the best for N L L and of course, our  DOGS!!!!!!!!
4. #5 Broussard for Dogs. Great hitter, catch heck of game, too!
5. Today, Dogs might throw the kitchen sink at png... I'd used every pitcher in my pen to keep Png off balance.... This win would set up Dogs pretty. Of course, i'm not coach. so it's just my opinion.
6. This is one of the showcases in 20-4a... I believe this winner is set for showdown with lcm. It will be a good one.  If png gets up early, trouble for the dogs.  If dogs dominate on mound, trouble for png... I think it be close, hopefully, dogs take this one.
7. Note to others:  Select has ALL of this stuff going on also. The only difference is you spend way too much money and have NO BOARD to complain to or about. Tournament officials could care less about politics. I told my son let your BAT do your TALKING.... Those memories mean more than being right.  They might have listened, then again, they eventually wanted to win.
8.
I think you misunderstood me.  I agree with everything you said, its just frustrating.  all theyre doing is hurting the kids for their own purposes
Here's what I found.... Take the high road at all cost! Focus on your kid, spend time with him, work on baseball together, whether coach or board is to your liking. If you really have a crawl, run for the board.  However, your time with your family will be reduced during baseball season.  IN the end, when it matters, if you work with your kid and he has talent, he will succeed.  Just think of the time you and him worked together for a goal. No one will have to tell you, in time, if you focus on your family, not LL politics, your memories will be positive ones.  I wish everyone well at LL in Nederland.  We have a lot to be positive about.  The kids are our future.  If we teach them lessons, they will be winners in the end.... You always won't get a fair shot in life, that's ok, keep trying. You might be get looked over while working hard, keep working. In the end, your family and self-respect is what you keep with you forever.... LL will come and go quickly.  Take with you the best memories.  Let go of the petty things.  This has ALWAYS gone on, sometimes you might be on the other side of it and see it.  Trust me, we went thru it and survived,  I learned hard lessons... I have the joy of watching my sons on the field for the Dogs!  Some of the obstacles we faced, no longer have kids who play on any type of athletic field. It ALL works out!  It's only a matter of how you deal with it.
9.
You know, I've been part of NLL in some form or fashion for the past 8 years.  I've got to say, with all honesty, these last two years have been the worst in the way of management.  I personally think the guys (and girls) running it are ridiculous.  I've never seen more daddy-ball, politics, petty differences, dis-organization, and mis-management in all my years involved.  I'm not naive; politics and daddy-ball has been around since I played in NNLL long ago, but never to this extent.  These guys running it (not all of them) have made the league into everything BUT for the kids.  Half of them only play to see if their kid makes all-stars.  They could care less if the guys coaching do it for the kids or for themselves, actually coach, actually have ever played baseball, or actually even want to win. Don't get me wrong, there are some good guys on the Board, but "some" is not enough. If people wonder why NLL is losing kids, there it is.
People who are on Boards are VOLUNTEER! I don't know anyone on NLL Board but I know what it takes to run Boards for baseball.  Trust me, it's lots of work.  There's always daddyball....REally?  All-stars?  It's not the end all.  I have seen kids get passed over on Allstars, only to show up big in High School, and later on... Terry Bradshaw got passed over for football in High School due to Friends and Family Plan...He went to be a Superbowl winning QB.  How stupid did that High School coach look when he sat around explaining why Terry Bradshaw didn't start as QB for him? Tom Brady, Steve Young,  ....the list goes on, and on, so many people get looked over at different levels, if you perserver, SOMEONE eventually wants to win and if you truly GOT TALENT, your moment has arrived. Personally, my kids had to endure daddyball and I know it has made them better people.  THEY EARN everything they get.  NO one hands them anything and we wouldn't have it any other way.
10.
And 8 of them are gone...
Let me tell you what LL really taught me.... First)  Be a TEAM player. (period) 2)    Don't expect anything handed to you, EVER. 3)    If you get a chance, make the most of it. 4)    Stop complaining!!!!!  This only brings EVERYone DOWN.  No one wants to hear it. 5)    You need to celebrate others!  And recognize your own shortcomings on the field. 6)    Do extra work to be your best.  Work hard all the time.  Hussle!  Even at practice. 7)    Be RESPECTFUL of others.  We teach/learn respect at this level, if you don't learn it, you never will. Eight)    You will most likely NOT play baseball in college.  You will have a better chance of being hit by lightning than playing in the MLB.  GET OVER YOURSELF. 9)    The friends you make in LL will be some of the best of your life and you will have fond memories if you follow Rules 1-8.  Otherwise, you might be a LOser in more that LL. 10)  Your dad won't be your boss at your job.  So it's ok to have a coach to let you know that you always don't have control. Get over yourself and BE a Team player, even if you don't like the coach, don't play as much as you want and are jealous of your teammates. The lessons you learn are invaluable and will last you longer than your baseball career.  You just have to be willing to learn them.  And it's sad to say PARENTS don't want their kids to learn those valuable lessons.
11. Let's kick this off right, Dogs!!!! 8)
12.
Maybe some high school coaches and ADs, some not all, should be asked to sigh a contract stating that they will pay for your kid's college education if they abuse their arms...worked for me.  ;)
Heck, if the coaches/ad could just pay for my sons' food bill.  College is nothing compared to that! ;D
13. JV/SOPH Games bumped to Wed, starting 430 in Vidor. Fields too wet to play.... Rain, Rain, Rain, go away, Nederland wants to play....
14. The key to protecting the pitchers is having an OFF Season.  Most kids, even who play select, don't overthrow in one season.  It seems to be the pitchers who never take a season off.  Also, those kids who pitch year round, whether at lessons or just with dad, or pitch through fall ball/tournaments.  I know this is not popular with leagues/select who run Fall leagues.  Not saying to end this, but parents need to realize if your kid pitches, take either fall / spring OFF from pitching.  I have seen excellent pitchers who should still be pitching who pitched year round and blew their arms out at too early of age. Rest that arm!!!  Most people overlook this.
15. Nederland Soph and JV @ Vidor tonight starting at 4:30

17. Big Ned has PNG at home Friday nite.
For Vidor I expect Peno. Possibly Fregia, or John Boy. No doubt we will see Brown unless Ned. Has LCm or PNG Friday.
18. It might be LESS work not to carry them.
We are looking to add 1 player to our roster. We are carrying 10 players now. If you are interested pm me here or call Tony Dallas 409-882-1943. We play in the AAA and Elite division of USSSA and Nations respectively. Thanks
Letting them walk, run, ride in a car is better.  Yall are strong, too. Sorry, to easy to pass up.  ;)
19. Who's on the mound for district opener in 20-4A for your team???? (I know it's really speculation cause we can't show our hand and all.  However, there's a #1 for every team and of course a #2.)
20. I have too much baseball energy stored up with all these cancellations due to weather.... :o Ready for the show to begin...let's go 20-4A
21. Yet another one....LL mom in stands yells as her son strike outs on an extremely HIGH pitch,  "THAT'S NOT a STrike, UMP."  She really gets madder as her son walks with his head down, back to the dugout.... "Ump, you're terrible.  That was a ball!!!!  That was not a strike!!!" She got more worked up as the umpire really tried to ignore her.... Finally, the ump quietly walked up the fence close to where she was sitting and said,"Ma'am, he swung at it and missed" She didn't say another word, realizing that her son had swung at the High pitch.... As the old saying, better to go down swinging, than standing and looking.  No one has ever hit a baseball looking at the ball going by and not swinging a bat...well, that's another story...
22. We played in Brenham tourney... the kids were 11...ALL of our umps were terrible....and ALL were extremely  short(well under 5 foot), honestly they couldn't even see over the kids catching, mind you the kids are 11.  It was like circus umps.  All years of baseball I have never seen any thing like this.  This only added to the bad banter between umps and the STANDS.... After the game, the banter still continued.... The commercial from Jack in the Box had just gained popularity with Mini Sirloin Burgers....staring, of course, MIDGETS.... I can't tell how many people, including adults, were singing that as the umps went to their vehicles. Most, of course, went to Jack in the Box to eat. .............no short people were harmed in the making of this story......
23. That's what I thought.  We never played NLL, and I knew NSLL and NNLL had combined and thought it was named NLL, which by the way, made sense to me. I wish that we were still in LL when this happened but my boys had already moved past LL. Nederland LL would have been a powerhouse if they had never been separated.  The talent pool was cut in half and allowed cities like BC to be the powerhouse. How has NLL done in Allstars since the combined leagued start?
24. The pressure to produce is ever increasing. I believe it has to do some with the changing generation of parents.  This generation of parents believe it's their right to either persuade or tell the coach/athletic director what to do, who to play, who not to play.  I am not sure these parents realize that it's not their job to be the Coach.  It has to put unneeded stress on coaches and move/change at least shuts up those parents and the next group won't say as much until they get to know them. This trend will continue
