Nederland is strong... BC looks great, too.  Great seasons for them both, if they stay healthy.

Not if a team is loaded with hitters who are hitting that good pitching..... You can't win a game 0-0.  Someone has to score.  If the pitchers are that good, someone has to hit, right?  No BB, no HBP which marks good pitching.

Hitters hit.  Plain and simple. This will bring the game back to things like bunting, being patient at the plate and the hitters coming up with Big hits.  Definetly, tipped the game back to the pitcher.  Lots of pitcher's duals ahead of us. [/quote] That ain't no joke.  I went to our scrimmage against Bryan today, and their was maybe 5 hits between the schools.  I only stayed for 4 innings and it was 1-0 Bryan when I left.  Both of our hits were doubles, while Bryan had 2 singles and a double.  You could see rust on both teams, but I guess that was to be expected. This is simple.  Put the best 9 players on the field.  Players who hit and solid in the field should play, whether or not who they are. Other schools may take leftovers from Big Ned who are not getting their time on field, good is good and the best should play. Silly not to...... Nederland has another strong group of Freshman....too deep in upper classman to see any kids on V. However, this group is supported by strong pitching and solid fielding.  A couple of power hitters. Nederland is pitching rich over the next four years.  Wonder what was in the water in Nederland 15-18 years ago.

Go back and check my posts concerning LM/OZEN game.  I defended the kids from Ozen... BISD needs to be held accountable and if I was a parent, taxpayer in Bmt, I would demand more. Making the point, BISD fails the kids, and because of other factors (like strong parenting) the students overcome the ineptitude of their school system in Beaumont. Also, it's smarter for Stump to move to better system.  Good luck to him!

Yes, BISD has its share of problems and some extra.... I work in higher education and it's sad to see how the students of BISD compare to students in our area, our state and beyond.  Students overcome the ineptness of their education system. For that, you can be proud. Each child is offered the same learning experience as the next one which shows in the magnet programs accepting students from all 3 high schools. All 3 high schools rate fairly well with the amount of academic and athletic scholarships at the end of the school year. Let's blame the officials, cops, fans, ticket takers, concession stand workers, really??? I have been to my share of HORRIBLY officiated games which were physically beyond measure, BUT I have not seen those teams revert to fighting. Call a  duck a duck! These players made the choice.  THEY should be punished ON BOTH sides of the field.  UIL, Coaches and SCHOOL DISTRICTS should deal swiftly with this DISGRACE.  And Forbid that the parents take their kids and teach them a lesson or two.  Everyone is watching how the adults react!!!!  Knowing that those kids are going to be law abiding citizens one day.
