The question I asked was why didn't Ozen's coach call a timeout before shooting the 2nd or 3rd free throw, he had them...it's not like he could carry them over to Friday's game.

Central will get them at Central....This game is usually an emotional one, but as AAW called it last night, its the "undercard" game these days, sadly enough.  Its unreal, how both of those programs have changed over the last 3 or 4 years. I don't think that just because one coaches football or soccer or baseball or tennis means they have to coach basketball. I can't speak on the experience of Central's coaches as far as basketball is concerned so I can only give my opinion. I do feel that the ASSISTANT coaches (not the stat man, another body on the bench or his uncle, brother, cousin, etc) at Ozen knows quite a bit about basketball from experience although it may not be heard by higher authority. Just watching some of the assistant coaches is comical to say the least. [/quote] Now watching last night's game, MY opinion still doesn't change. As far as coaching goes, yelling at a player in a timeout is not coaching. I don't remember seeing anything out of Central's coaches after warmup until they called timeout. The only time I remember them getting up was for a timeout. Now Ozen's coach walked back and forth and talked to his players on and off the court quite a bit, not sure if that was for show or not. I also saw the assistant coaches for Ozen talk to their particular group of kids during timeouts to address certain things. I may be a little biased because my son goes to Ozen but anybody who knows me knows that I am not too keen on all of the coaching staff. To say the least I was shocked at Ozen's coaching staff last night. We still have a ways to go but I can say I didn't lose much sleep last night lol.

Is there a problem with introductions? We are talking about kids here and if I'm not mistaken they are only imitating what's done on the college and NBA level. As long as it's not offensive or derogatory or demeaning in any way I say let them have their 1 minute of fun. I don't think that it's as bad as the national anthem dragging out for 6 minutes and again IMO....

Go there if you must but I won't allow you or anybody else to place blame on all the kids for the mistakes that a select few have made. I have busted my tail and quite a few others to raise mine to be the fine young men that they are. You along with anybody else that feels that Ozen has nothing but criminals and/or thugs (as they have been called on several threads) are wrong. One bad decision mars the whole school but where is the media and bashers when Ozen accomplishes something good? I can't speak for how anybody else raises their child but I for one know what I do in my household. Neither do I feel that the coaches condoned any of the bad decisions made and yes things could have been handled differently but you or nobody else can prove to me that all the kids at Ozen are "bad". And I will applaud my own post LOL

Was Coach Stump the only quality coach in BISD? I beg to differ if so. One of my sons graduated from Ozen and received a quality education. Just as my other son is at  Ozen now and is receiving a quality education and has received quality coaching thus far, no the programs haven't been all successful but he is there to learn more than winning (although he likes winning better). Yes, BISD has its share of problems just as any other district. Each child is offered the same learning experience as the next one which shows in the magnet programs accepting students from all 3 high schools. All 3 high schools rate fairly well with the amount of academic and athletic scholarships at the end of the school year. Not sure that Coach Stump feels that any child will be left behind because of his departure. Good luck to him and his family!

Let me see if I'm understanding this correctly - It's being said that Ozen holds the magic button to determine how WB's season will go? If all of the "talent" is at Ozen, how in the heck have we not made it the State Championship since our existence? Maybe had Stump been the coach at Ozen and mixed all of that in with the "talent" then we'd have a playoff banner for each year?

That stadium was much needed. After attending freshman and jv games at West Brook and at Babes Zaharias I clearly saw this. There is no way that either stadium was "acceptable". There's no way that the support from WB and 5A schools would have held up at their stadium. Babe Zaharias was falling apart and Ozen only has one side of bleachers. So I guess logically it was feasible to continue paying Lamar for use of their facility. On another note, I guess Dr. Thomas is to blame for Stump's wife working for Mobil and having to relocate her office to the Woodlands?
