Which is why Ozen's athletic dept cannot return to BH and wasn't invited to the GCC! Just Sayin'.......And what was that song Ozen was singing after they beat Huntsville......NaNaNa.....Hey Hey Hey……Good Bye!!! :o Real Classy!!! ::) At least the sign was directed toward the BH fans and could only be seen and not heard! Ozen is just upset they lost and on the defensive! Congrats BH on a great win and Good Luck at State!!! See you there! :) Ok, I'm done, was just tired of hearing how bad BH is for a marker board sign, when I know alot of what Ozen has done, not only the day before and earlier that week but also in other sports. :-X
sounds to me that karma bit ozen back!
1st off no damage was done to BH by anybody at Ozen. Using some of your words "BH lost and was just on the defensive". There was never any proof of this and those are not just my words. Can't always go by he say, she say...ya know because it's normally always started by somebody mad at something. 2nd Ozen hasn't been on this site and said they are upset - "Dick Vitale" made comments and last time I checked "Dick Vitale" doesn't equal Ozen. One person's opinion doesn't speak for the girls basketball program or the school for that matter. He did just like he wanted to on this thread and every other one and that was work yall up - and guess what yall keep falling for it! I'll say it again, I am not a die hard Ozen fan but I will be a fan until my child graduates. Ozen had a great season that came to an end, move on and try again next year. Good luck to BH on your quest for the title! We want the kids to act all proper, prim and civil when this site of adults is tit for tat. -

I am so glad that Ned is having a LTrain (football) type run in district over the last two years, but Ned don't get too caught up in it, because we have all had fall to earth experiences (Central & Ozen Included). I do agrre with Dickie, that district Champs only matter in District, who won 24-4A last year? Exactly! It is relevant for local talk, but as far as State wide is concerned it is pretty much nothing. In contrast, I think us as fans must fully enjoy every accomplishment no matter how small. So congrats to 20-4A for having the opportunity to put at least one team in the regional tournament... maybe TWO!!!!! Go Jags!
Jags in the house! 8)
Sorry for hijacking on this thread BUT can Ozen have at least 2 fans on this site, it gets hard trying to defend the Panthers against so many people (especially when I have my own doubts at times lol).... -

Wow! Are we sure that there are not ALOT of women or kids on this forum? Nothing against women or kids but they are the ones known to bicker and stay in their feelings. I liked the football thread so much more, there was plenty trash talking. I used to find the forums comical but some have gotten a little extreme. Some of you are probably saying so don't read them but not sure where I'll get some of my comic relief from. Contrary to popular belief NO TEAM is perfect. There are some things said and done during every game but we on this forum keep it going even after the kids have walked off the field and court. I can't understand some thoughts of some people but heck who am I. Congrats BH on defeating the #1 state ranked team and good luck on your journey. Heck I'd prefer BH to win so that Ozen would have lost to the State Champions. Ozen move on and try it again next year.
Maybe if they had run across the floor and attacked them with football helmets, then it could be written off as being caught up in the moment.
Baddog, really....just because you have issues with Dickie V, must Ozen football players be brought into it? They have been tried and convicted and will be for years to come. Anything but good sportmanship displayed is bad for any team regardless of who they are. It was a very unfortunate event for all parties involved and Ozen will have to deal with that...don't allow Dickie V to get you all rattled up lol -
oh my word.....you nederland and ozen fans are ridiculous..... Who cares whose favored.... just go out and win the game. truth be told i have ties to nederland and i would like to see them win this game, but right now Ozen is playing better ball and have beat better opponents in the playoffs so yes Ozen should be favored.....get over it. learn to cut your emotional ties from 'your' team and then you ll see the truth
No sir! You hardly ever find any Ozen fan on this forum talking noise, heck there are hardly any Ozen fans on this site. Not sure who Dickie V is a fan of since he criticizes all teams although at times it's quite obvious who he is not a fan of and that's his right. I have ties to Ozen (and honestly didn't feel that we'd be in the 3rd round but here we are DARN IT) but I like being the underdog just like we were in football. As soon as something is said in non-support of certain teams on this site all heck breaks loose. Good luck to each and every school still representing this area!

Have a blessed day......and the Ozen thread has one post.
And this has something to do with this thread, how? If EVERYBODY'S opinions were the same then there'd be no need for this forum or any other for that matter. How boring would this site be if everybody came on here saying how great Nederland is, Ozen is, Central is and etc? Dickie V has his ways I've seen from this forum but heck he doesn't sugarcoat it for Ozen or Central, he's given his opinion of the good and and the bad of all teams....some things I agree with and some I don't. I can't sit here and argue or attack someone personally because of his opinions. Agree to disagree respectfully and move forward. I always say I don't have a dog in this fight but it's comical how bent out of shape some people can get because their opinions are different. I can honestly say that I am not a fan of any school but I support my son and he'll be an Ozen Panther til graduation so that makes me a Panther and trust me with the direction of the basketball program over the years I am in countdown mode. I commend Nederland and some of their fans. I have much respect for Coach English but some of his fans and my personal encounters with them have made it hard for me to support the Bulldogs and that's a shame but at the same time why would such a fan base need my approval or support....Good luck to our 20-4A teams still in the battle!

Ozen receives reprimand, 2 yr probation from UIL for brawl
uandme08 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Maybe I'm delusional...I understand there is a price to pay for the actions that took place as a team but I feel that individual punishments should be alot stricter. Why should "Sammy" pay next year for what the senior from last year did? Why senior is away at college or wherever take away "Sammy's" opportunity to advance? Yes, again I agree that the team needs to be punished and probation IMO is fitting for the "team" but what does this punishment have on the players no longer there next season?. If there is video evidence like they said there was then it can be seen who should be punished. Again maybe I am delusional. -

Nederland is going to win state..
Guys, If I understand Dickie V's reasoning correctly, I can see what he means. Look at it this way. Coach English is getting about 95% out of his players... This is a result of great coaching! But Nederland is just about as good as they are going to get this year. But Ozen (and Central) has players with far more athletic potential and the coaching staff is NOT getting the most out of their potentials... let's say 60-70% (although the exact number is open to debate), the point is, that the Ozen team can be much, MUCH better with some better coaching. So, is DV picking on Nederland? I don't think so. But much like the HJ faithful who react like pitbulls when they feel HJ Is being maligned, the Nederland faithful are absolutely certain that DV is drinking HatorAde when it comes to Nederland. Frankly, I see his point. There is a coaching vacuum in Beaumont that is holding the Panthers and Jaguars from competing at the level that they could be (considering the talent on the teams). I hope I didn't muddy up the waters even further.
My opinion of Nederland really doesn't matter because I can't say that I have a dog in that fight but I have my fair share of things to say when they play Ozen but only because I have to talk smack when my child is playing. From what I see and I'm going by #s here, Nederland and Central has the top 2 teams with Ozen in 3rd and so on (lol). Now to the bold section - I have to agree with this. My son has played organized basketball since 3rd grade and has always had fun and love for the sport. Going to open gym during the summer and interacting with Boutte led him to want to go to Ozen. He was highly disappointed when Boutte left and changed his mind about going to Ozen. I made him stay but then saw the change in him and this year it has gotten worse. I've told him several times this season that his heart isn't in it and he is not having fun anymore and it shows. He agrees and his reasons don't have anything to do with his teammates. So again I agree.... On another side note, I guess I haven't been on here long enough to know who Dickie V is.... -
Where did the Barbers Hill locker room thing come from?
After Ozen handed Barbers Hill that loss "somebody" decided to spread a rumor that Ozen's players tore up BH's fieldhouse. An article by someone associated with BH in some kind of way was written but it was all a lie. Some people can't accept defeat as easily as others so they look for other ways to bring the kids down. People are quick to jump on the bandwagon of any kind. From what I've been told, BH's coach confirmed that the locker room was left no differently than it had been in previous games, with nothing out of the ordinary. Now if anybody has proof other than an article or he say/she say then that's different but I haven't seen any.

I know this is an open forum, one where our opinions can be displayed for the "world" to see. Some people on here are so bitter that it's sickening and I often wonder what their life is like away from this forum. The whole point of this thread was to show thanks and gratitude to a man that one felt made a difference in his community. I don't know Coach Matthews personally but in what I've seen and heard of him, I can't help but feel that he is a great coach and that he has the Pirates headed in the right direction. I can't speak on previous years because this particular season was the only one that really had an impact on me. Great job Coach Matthews on a job well done!
Thanks PoppaBear...tradition has to start somewhere. I definately see it at HJ. Uandme08 said in the "I found this article interesting" post... "I can't seem to understand why there isn't at least 1 person from the family there for each child participating including the cheerleaders." I know all of the fans that follow HJ and Silsbee don't have kids/grandkids playing--they just follow which is my point...if you have a team that you want to claim as "your team" and you can get on this board or anywhere else and talk for/against them then come out and support them. Most teams don't bring cheerleaders with them on the road but I've even seen some who don't even have their cheerleaders cheering at their home games (totally don't understand that one). . It takes more than parent(s)/grandparents. :)
I agree as well, I just feel like it should start with the parents and/or family. My child has played everything under the moon regularly since the 3rd grade and I think I've missed a total of 6 games if that many. I keep praying for June 2013 (graduation) but 10 times out of 10 he will be looking for me when he goes on to play on the next level. My son playing has been my motivation because I can honestly say that I don't have a favorite team. Ozen has a chant "Ozen Soldier for life.......", my version is "Ozen Soldier til 2013.....". I will make it to a few after graduation but not every single 1. Nederland will be there in droves tomorrow and Ozen will be lucky to have 50 and it's a home game.
