WOW! Who's brilliant idea was this to create a Southeast Texas all-star game for the player's who didn't make the TABC's roster? There are already too many "empty" awards being created/issued out to player's just for the sake of keeping some former coach or AD's names relevant and now this. If the sole purpose of this is to generate scholly funds or one more opportunity for the unsigned to be seen then kudo's but if neither of those two intentions come to fruition exactly what was the purpose for creating this?
There will be four scholarships awarded for the basketball games.
Further description of the 4 scholarships is in order, such as amount of each, duration as in one-time or repetitive, etc.  I don't see this all star game generating a whole big amount of revenue net of expenses. ???
Call me crazy but I don't believe this. My son played in this game and he enjoyed it. I told him from the start it was a privilege to be selected and to go out and have fun although he has no desire to play basketball on the next level. The amount of the scholarship is irrelevant and no my son wasn't the recipient but I'm sure the recipient was grateful. Every bit helps regardless of who you are.
 2. Congratulations to the Panthers Girls and Boys Track team on winning district. Also congratulations to all who qualified for area, good luck!
 3. I'm not sure where BISD's head was and all we can do at this point is wait and see. The kids aren't buying into it too much either...in a conversation from this weekend I heard "8-22, we've won more than that" and other things along that line. There's a long road ahead for Ozen. Good luck Panthers! On another note, VY's interaction with the kids at the track meet was rather impressive smh....
 4. Smh....I had the pleasure of meeting some Crosby folks at various college visits and camps and I am thankful to say that not everybody from Crosby has the mentality of the admin or cougar14. I'm not sure what points he thinks he's making because in actuality he seems to be spewing a deeper hole of ________. I've always said that 1 fan can make it impossible to wish the kids well. In both cases I would have much rathered Crosby to win state so that I could at least come back with "we lost to the state chamipons" but I'm glad that didn't happen because his head would have exploded.
 5. Dang BG already lol... Soulja I actually met the coach today at the track meet. He seems like a pretty good dude. His interaction with the kids today looked good, just may be a step in the right direction.
 6. Congratulations to all of the kids selected. A big shout out to Alex "Ducc" Williams.
 7.

Hhhhhhmmmmm where's soulja? I wonder what excuse he'll come up with now? I guess its safe to say my prediction was right about 20-4A wasn't it? I've been saying all year that the playoffs would prove everything I've been saying about 20-4A this year....sooooo with that said I rest my case  8)
I'm here.  I'm here, Sir.  True, the third round was the demise of 20-4a this year, but could this been seen as a 'double edged sword'? Could it be that Crosby is very good?  They  are district Co-district,t champions, you know.  Could it be that Georgetown is very good?  They took down a talented Central bunch and then took down a good Nederland team (who did beat your panthers may I add).  Georgetown was prepared for a fast pace game vs. Central and a few days later (yesterday), was prepared for a slow down game vs Nederland that ,according to a lot of Nederland fans INCLUDING my Nederland contact, was the best possible matchup for them (they didn't want Central for a 3rd time).  Only time will tell, my fellow Beaumontonian (is that even a word?  Lol).  If Crosby or Georgetown make it to the regional final or the state simi's, then your point WON'T be proven....but at that point, you'll try to say, 'lets see if they can win a state title', right?  8) 8)  So please keep 'your case' restless.
I figured you'd try to come to nederland and Ozen rescue...all yesterday proved is that Nederland and Central weren't that good neither was Ozen and also that Saveat is a terrible coach and in due time BISD will realize it and get Ozen a worthy coach...my predictions were more than correct you called me crazy for criticizing 20-4a and Ozen all year and now who looks like they don't have credibility on this forum? And to say crosby and georgetown are good is blasphemy I'd like to see the results of their next game. I rest my case lol  8)
Gosh darn it ozensfinest....you did say you were an alumn of Ozen, didn't you? I can't speak for Nederland or Central because I don't have a dog in that fight. Now as far as Ozen is concerned I am not Saveat's biggest fan but in all due respect he didn't miss the free throws last night. He did what a coach should do, he along with his assistants, saw where we were at the half and you better believe they made the adjustments at halftime. At the rate we were going, it appeared as though Crosby was going to waltz out of Lee with the victory. Why must you get on here and discredit what those boys did all season? That group of young men gave it their all and played their hearts out all season and especially in the playoffs. Sure a state championship would be great but at the end of the day I don't think any less of those kids that put in the work on and off the court.
 8. Hard fought battle for my Panthers, free throws make a difference. Great season boys!
 9.
ozen looks like they have more here than the football game.
Get off my team  ;)
 10. The game was so good Friday, I completely forgot. Then I was so nervous I was shaking and couldn't log in, I had to call somebody to give them the scores to post. I'll try to do better.  ;D

Did I read that correctly? OMG!!
If that happens they may as well play UIL games at the local YMCA's! They already allow way too many teams in the playoffs, and we all know who they did that for.... ::) ::)
Who would that be DV?
Come on man...That 4th place playoff spot was designed SPECIFICALLY for the PNG's, the Orangefield's, the Bridge City's, and the LCM's of the world...The UIL was sick of seeing the same "inner city" schools in the playoffs and Johnny Suburb had to only watch...Now...EVERYBODY gets a ribbon! (in the playoffs) ::) ::) ::) Dove is right...Its WATERED DOWN the playoffs in football and basketball...How many 4th place teams WON the region? ZERO. Its just another oppurtunity for the schools to purchase shirts that say "PLAYOFFS" ::) ::)...Sickening... >:(
I have very bad memory....though this isn't the football thread - was Ozen the 3rd or 4th spot last year and went how far? Trust me I know they weren't named State Champs but....
 12.
This loss only proves what I've been saying about 20-4A district all year its WEAK and the only reason Ned and Ozen(even though I'm an alumni I'm also realistic) are still in the playoffs are because they haven't played any top notch opponents and when that happens they'll lose. Mind you I predicted that no 20-4A team would make it to regionals this year although Ozen might make it because they should beat Crosby...and also predicted that central would lose due to the the fact that they'd get out coached.
Ozensfinest, I have agreed with some things and I've disagreed with some things. There's not too many in this forum that could have had as many negative thoughts about Ozen than me, I guess I just never really voiced them. True Central didn't have the season alot of people wanted or envisioned and I for one was ready for basketball to be over for my Panthers but all in all the Jaguars had a phenominal season and I look for them to come back even stronger next year.
 13. I was hoping I would be able to catch this game but my mama duties come first so I'll be heading to Lee College. Good luck to the Tigers!
 14. Great job Panthers! I may be kinda biased but anybody that knows me knows I'm his worst critic. Big ups to Jakobi and Ducc for their senior leadership last night. Jakobi has impressed me the last 2 games finally being who the coaches have asked him to be. Great job Panthers!
 15.
BmtSoulja! i'm with you thank them for not getting cox or any of the good old boys, but maybe they can hire cox at Ozen , oh and dont worry about telling cox about himself in person he wouldnt respond thats why his offense ran like him SOFT
Understand, if he wasn't wanted at Central WHY would you want my Panthers to end up with him? I don't know Cox from Foreman but I'm just wondering.  ???
 16. Uhmmmmm HELLO!!!! We all are arm chair QB with all the right answers that's why we are on here giving our opinions. I can't understand how so many feathers get ruffled behind something said on an opinion forum, it's his opinion. I doubt very seriously that Coach Cox or any of the other coaches that are discussed on here rely on this as a means of supporting their families. Our behind the computer opinions don't determine who will be hired or fired or the outcome of a season. My poor child has been dragged back and forth on here so much it's a wonder how in the heck he manages to get out of the bed everyday. I in no way condone any bashing of anybody but it happens. I am not Soulja's puppet or speaker...it's time people stop wearing their feelings on their sleeves. Good luck to Central and whoever they will have as their next coach - oh lawd and that's coming from this poor ole' Panther.

When I spoke to one of Lamar's coaches, it seemed to me that they didn't have many scholarships to offer. Can't quote him word for word but they only had 7 football players graduating. I don't know too many kids or parents that would agree to "finding" a way to make it work the 1st year with the possibility of getting a scholarship the next year when they have 30+ graduating.
Good point, but in Montana's case if he is going on a 2 year mission trip, wouldnt the scholarship not count until 2015? Of course they may also take the stance that they can offer in 2015 when he returns.
Heck if I know anything about Lamar other than the brief encounters I've had with them during this process. But I guess you're right, IF they were going to offer him then why not?

 19. Not taking anything from their opponents because they were good. Ozen missed a lot of free throws and was in foul trouble early. Nakia had 3 fouls before halftime. Conally's defense took Ozen out of their comfort zone. Nakia is good and has been their go to from day 1, with her being in foul trouble somebody else needed to step up.

Do you guys honestly think that any team in 20-4A is state championship contender? Heck no not even close and it will show in the playoffs...stop trying to say the reason Ozen isn't dominating is because the talent is spread all over Beaumont because it has always  been that way WB has had studs and Central has had STUD its just that when it came down to who had the better PROGRAM it wasn't even close Ozen isn't the same program because of the guy who took over the program its that simple and the proofs in the pudding...Think about it when was the last time Ozen won district outright? Under bouttee...Ozen first lost in history to central was under who? Saveat are you starting to see a trend here?
You want some cheese with your whine  :'( :'( :'(
What the heck does signing D1 in football have to do with Ozen hoops?  You're losing credibility again.  Smh In the playoffs, a win is a win.  All teams are good.  I think a 4 typing playoff run ended by a loss to a Jones or a Yates would be the same as a 4 round push having beat a Jones or Yates in the second round.  Point being, it doesn't matter who you play, it's all about keep winning, which last years Ozen team did.  Don't let your hate for Saveat cause you to discredit those kid's accomplishments.  They did make it farther in the playoffs than Nederland AND Central with a subpar coach as you put it AND being a third place team...
I guess you missed my statement about me actually PLAYING FOR OZEN bball team and you said i barely knew about football and my rebuttal was I signed a D-1 scholarship to play FOOTBALL...I would like to hear your credentials in sports  :-\ as far as Ozen making it further than Nederland in the playoffs that is not considered an accomplishment to us Ozen fans who've watched the glory days at Ozen and the tradition that program was built upon...beating Nederland is supposed to be a sure thing when your playing for Ozen and it was until Saveat took over I don't see what you guys don't see here I don't dislike Saveat as a person he's just not fit for the job at Ozen and its been showing for 4 years now soulja your giving ozen credit for making it to regionals anything short of a state title appearance or championship is considered a failure at Ozen...but i see why you view that as an accomplishment since your a central fan you guys aren't used to a winning tradition on the hardwood
Do you belive Ozen would be undefeated at this point if Boutte was still the coach?
I believe the answer to this question is obvious...in district absolutely when the players don't respect you as a coach then you won't be very successful its simple Ozen isn't losing because of the lack of talent their losing because of the lack of discipline being instilled in the program
Name another game changer on Ozen's roster other than Jordan Hunter. Yes the Panthers have some good hard working players but, one game changer!
Ummmm does Jacobi Jones ring a bell?
Lol...
Or you insinuating that Jacobi Jones isn't a baller on the yard?
I believe he is!! and i would have to second that....
...and that will let you know that he don't know what he's talking about and he's just spewing garbage...  Lmao. Comical at best...
Man, HOLD UP! I can't believe that this thread is still active lol. On another note "Get off my child".  ;D OzensFinest, realistically speaking Jakobi is better defensively than he is offensively but he is a team player and he'll never give up. He knows I cringe at the sight of him at the free throw line and he'll be the first to tell you that I'm his worse critic (although there are some people on this board that can run a tight race with me) and I'm a hater. I will also say that you make some valid points but it's time we move on with our thinking. Things change no matter the circumstances and we have to adjust. Let's Go Panthers!
 21. Ozen Lady Panthers vs Kingwood Park - Tuesday, February 12th @ 7:30 @ Lee College
 22. I wish I would have gone to this game. From what I remember it was a marginal loss. The point spread - was that made by Ozen at the free throw line for all the bad calls the refs made or did the scorekeeper just put that many points up? This is not the 1st time Ozen has beaten a team like this and probably won't be the last. Did the girls not make any baskets? I guess I should have gone. Good luck to Vidor on their playoff run. As well as to the Lady Panthers!
 23.
Young Ozen will not be able to handle the pressure of a game with possible District title on the line. They only beat Ned the first time because of a lucky bank 3 and a coach E tech. Ozen WILL NOT shoot 70% again.
Surely u jest! If Ozen continues playing the way they have the last couple of games, it's going to be a lot harder for Nederland to walk back to their cars and buses than it was a couple of weeks ago.
