Game hinged on many plays, dropped pick six with Ned up 14-0, clutch kicker, nails FG and perfect onside kick, great call by Faircloth on the half back pass when their offense couldn't get going, 3rd and 25 conversion on a perfect throw and catch.... lots of plays decide a winner and loser

Yep he deserves alot of credit as well...here's my question and it actually goes back to the 2nd quarter after the PN-G score that made it 14-9 Nederland...the Bulldogs still had two time outs and a minute and a half to work with why not take a couple of shots downfield and see what happens? Instead we run out the clock. When Neumann was here i was used to seeing Faircloth make boneheaded decisions. I think Barrow has spent the last few years getting an education at bonehead university.
The backup Qb, who is a strong runner, but hasn't had the reps in the passing game, so with Ned getting the 2nd half KO, I understand the calls there

The difference was the back to back fumbles.. and losing the last one. That’s not on Barrow. Too many potential interceptions right through our hands.... actually Faircloth played keep away like Neumann did.... Hats off to the injuns, we had our chances, and didn’t capitalize.
This is the truth. I've never seen a kicker swing momentum like that, busts a FG then pops an incredible inside kick

KWP has a common opponent with Nederland in Barbers Hill from last year and did better. Both didnt have good seasons so I went with the optics of KWP having a positive score differential. Regarding PNG I believe they proven recently that they can do pretty good in their district and make the playoffs. I just have more faith that they can figure it out than KWP or Nederland. PNG has made the playoffs 7 seasons in a row.
How many seasons in a row has Nederland or KWP made the playoffs?

Well, we here at SETXsports need to be a little more "open" minded.
IMO, our Game of the Week isn't just about rivalry and history. Should be what the best or most important game is on the slate.
Don't get me wrong, love the game. But I will never vote it as our game of the week if neither are making the playoffs or both have losing seasons.
BTW, I voted for the New Caney/Porter game.
I say pick who you think is the best match-up, has no bearing on what goes down in Mid County, the Madness is more inside the communities than any pub from outside.

Nederland has decided to play a little football. This should be a great game, as usual. Depends on Ned’s offense moving the ball. If they have good games by they’re 2 running backs, they win.
There can be different levels of rivalries.Rb's or Qb can't have a good game unless Nederland wins the line of scrimmage. That is where they are showing some improvement, but has not been a strength all in all. Vidor will make you battle for the line of scrimmage, 4 point stances and nose down, drive and dive blocking. You have to be a little nasty to play in this one, Dogs have a challenge in front of them, but have a good formula over the years for having what it takes to beat the Pirates. Should be a fun one, and guaranteed to be one last good roll in the mud with the Pirates on Jerry Mallory Field based on the forecast.

I still remember Stepps tweet about the payphone in the shamble of a press box Nederland has.

Is Nederland QB this season the young man who came into the playoff game last year when the starter was injured? If so, BigNed has a lot of work to do. Take them out of the ranking.....
Someone please save this post.... will be the source of a pretty good chuckle....

Thus the comment about being the underdogs all year.

Some teams are all about the stats, like it wins games... Nederland just wins games, especially against you know who.

have at it, discuss. You got two who led the area in picks coming back, plus two more starters.

If Nederland suffers from low industry tax base, to maintain a functioning district, wouldn't the tax rates be among the highest, instead of the very lowest??? Please explain.

With the big push to legalize marijuana, I'm thinking a bong issue has a chance this time prepball.

Should see a lot of Noah Lewis and Landon Hiltz on offense and Burnett was solid last year. I hear they have two stud running backs, but don't know much about them. Running behind that offensive line should not be an issue.

Nederland should be loaded on offense and will have the best secondary in the area, returning 4. A lot to replace on the front 7, but with their secondary, it will make filling the holes a little easier.

The ump blew the call, we can stop talking about it. It's 2 out of 3, hopefully there are no opportunities for runs to be granted for either team going forward. Let's just watch some good baseball today, time to move on, good luck to these two quality teams.

Nederland had some dominant defenses over the years. 45 years as a coach in the same district is pretty impressive. Congrats.
