Haven't seen the eagles play yet this year but I've seen warren, was woodville missing someone? This is a surprisingly close score.

I would go LCM, Lumberton, OF, WOS, Vidor after Silsbee.   But really any combination of those 5 teams wouldn’t shock me in the least.  That’s how little separation I think there is between them.

    Just a few observations:
(1). Analytics and Offensive stats are a waste of paper in high school basketball .They can be very misleading by outings against weaker competition .
(2). The best judge of a “go to player” are the kids themselves. The opposing defense may limit that player’s ability to get the ball but the players know who should have it.
(3). If we have a coach at any level who doesn’t know if his best players are on the floor during crunch time he’s probably in the wrong profession. I haven’t seen a local coach who doesn’t know where his best players are.

Whew!  Sounds like it was a great game that came down to making STOPS.  I learned a long time ago that if you score 30 but you give up 40 you gon lose lol.  Analytics is good and all but that only applies on the offensive end.  I get so tired of hearing "we lost the game but I had 25" lol. Kids that end up playing on the next level find out very quickly that defense gets them on the floor and keeps them there.  Just my opinion tho......

I think this post has gone to far. These are kids/ not professional! Looking at analytics… Give me a shot chart.. so I can figure out if #2,4, 23, 5 took good shots/bad. I think I read 5 should have took at least 10 shots. So analysts please tell me where those shots should have came from. Who shot to many? Who took a bad shot? Who looked 5 off just to get a shot up? Who didn’t feed the post? As a coach I need you to be more specific because I wasn’t at the game but I know y’all will continue to discuss this until the next game. So share some film on here for us that just wants to validate your point or the opposition’s. Like HooHead said earlier college’s recruit parents and the kids. So y’all need to play right because so many kids can be stuck in the middle..because of opinion or stats.

just my thoughts Carry on.. I will be at the Silsbee/HJ game..How about y’all?

Could also be that to some degree you’re watching it as a dad more than a coach.

Looking at this break down I wouldn’t be able to tell who won the game?? Sears did a masterful job of breaking the defense down and dishing the ball where it needed to go. He could penetrate the defense at will and did when he needed to. HF doesn’t have the go to guy that steps up and demands the basketball with the game on the line. #2 was the closest player I saw to anyone doing this. Everyone has a different opinion I guess but I personally would have put #5 on the block and pounded the basketball in to him. I don’t the kids name but #3 from HJ was the most impressive defender I saw last night. Early foul trouble on Brown kept him on the bench for extended periods of time and kept the game closer than it would have been otherwise.

HJ led by 5 at the end of the 1st. They went up by 7 at the half but came out cold to start the 3rd and HF went on a 10-2 run . Foul trouble to Brown hurt the Hawks late in the first half . Davis hit two deep 3’s and a little floater he was fouled on to put the Hawks back up by 9. Sears sure looked like the best player on the floor tonight. I was also impressed with #3 for the Hawks tonight. He scored some big buckets in the first half and played super defensively. For the Horns I believe it was #2 who was strong on the defensive end and #5 was solid as well. #23 played big in spurts and has the tools. Good win for the Hawks
