1. Even the number with 2 teams making the playoffs so there won't be a layoff or make it mandatory for the district champs to have a warm up game against another district champ in a different classification.A lot of districts have a champion that isn't real strong so 4 clubs would make a joke out of the playoffs.
2. Anahuac had Larry Rivon and Mayes that year.Every club in the district that year was capable of beating each other
Redhorse has been this way for @ least for 25 years.-Whsalum
I know CATMAN that was my point, anyone that hasn"t been over there is in for a rude awakening.
4. When you graduate 6 starters from 1-a club there is definitely going to be some rebuilding. The first things the Rebs will see is defenses geared to taking away Murphy from the perimeter. If he spends a ton of time this summer working on creating his own shot he can be successful. The defense you described is one of the oldest in the game, has lots of names but most call it a box in one. When played correctly it can defend the middle very well if the offensive club doesn't have anyone else that can shoot the mid to long range jumper. The Rebels should be congratulated for their win but don't read more in to it than it was.It was a win against a club who couldn't match up with them.
5. Is Colby any kin to Robert Price ? Robert was a great player back in the 70"s for the Lions. He was an old friend of mine, I haven't heard from in years.
6. Just a couple of points, a high school pitcher who throws straight fastballs better have an excellent defense and anyone who is picking the Warren kids last doesn't know the kids. These kids are young but have played baseball year round since they were in elementary school. They will make the playoffs this year in 24aa.
7. I can tell some of you had never been to Leggett,it's an experience to say the least.
8. Does EC and Anahuac play again??If so you could wind up in a 3 way tie.Kountze isn't as strong as they have been in years past and West always has the Panthers ready to play.
9. Great atmosphere for this one, depth was the key.The Tigers had fresh legs in the 4th and the Hawks were a half a step late. The double technical call was interesting to say the least. It had no bearing on the outcome as both clubs hit 1 of 2.I didn't think you shot a double tech.I thought it went to the possession arrow, somebody help me out on this one  ??? ???

If a person never uses profanity then it will not "slip out". If a coach were to use profanity in the classroom, then he would be fired. The field or court is an extension of the classroom.
I dont use profanity but I have mashed my finger before and things have "slipped out"....or said something in a moment of anger....thats what I was refering to.
Would I be correct in assuming that L.H. never, never, never said anything except "come on boys, try harder:  I know you can do it"?
L.H. was as intense as any coach who ever got in the box but he didn't have to do a lot of cussing to get his players attention. They all knew what was expected of them and would play above themselves, maybe out of fear sometimes.I don't think you could find one that didn't respect him.
11. Unless you're quoting a definition  ;D ;D ;D
12. Great game coming here. The Horns are due a let down after wins over A&M,Kansas on the road and Mizzou but these Horns are better than I ever thought they would be.The 5 point home court advantage makes this one a toss up.I like Texas depth so I'll pick them by 3.
13. I haven't seen the post kids shoot the 15 footer. They usually shoot from 8-10 ft and put back the misses, which is what they should do.The reason I like 2 post players on the floor is because they can go high/low and have a fresh set of legs at all times.I still think to be successful in the playoffs they are going to have to handle back court pressure which I don't see an answer too.The shooting guard will be the key to their playoff run because I can guarantee folks will back it in until he proves he can shoot em out of it.What time does the Leggett game start? That will be a fun one to watch.
14. Basketball is a game of matchups whether it is 1-a or 5-a.The shooting guard for Evadale has developed better than I thought he would as have their 2 returning big men. That being said I think we agree the distict doesn't resemble the one that has had teams in the regional and state tournament the past several years.
15. You gotta feel for the club but more importantly for the kid, can't imagine having to watch your senior season.
16. OK I'll bite, how would you compare the district to the past 3 or 4 years?I would make the same prediction again if I had to do it over.Spurger was coming off a state tournament showing and returning a very good PG and a good post player.Unlike you I try and make open minded observations.
17. I had heard last week that Will was getting back on the floor. Is he getting some minutes or did the knee not hold up ???
18. This district for the first time in years is pretty weak but it's also pretty even so it's a toss up.
19. Your observations never cease to amaze me.
20. Congrats, It's great to see good things happen to good kids. You don't score that manyy without lots of hours in the gym.
21. Look at the many gifted players from around here over the past few years and see how they compare. For a kid to get quality minutes at the D1 level as a 2 or 3 guard he has to have exceptional ball handling and shooting skills but more importantly has to be a lock down defender on the perimeter. The D1 recruiters have a ton of folks they are looking at and only a small amount of scholarships to offer.
22. Sometimes the foul count can be pretty uneven down there but the clubs have to adjust.
23. HJ wins this one by 3. HJ=67 Silsbee=64
24.
These are great points ,coming form fokes that have never been in a collage or Pro. lockerroom at halftime when your behind. Coach K and Knight have a way to get the point across using a few very choise word at the right time. But a guess its all personal. But if your son is getting ready to head to a collage program, they had better get ready for the real world. Its not all rosses and candy. And if they not ready to hear profanity directed toward them they might wont to check into playing at a church leauge on weekends.
True you have no idea how many or what type locker rooms the people voiceing these opions have been in, but several have sat in college locker rooms and some have sons who are currently involved in college programs.I can also guarantee you that some that are really good players do actually play in church leagues on weekends. To insinuate that you have to cuss or berate your players to be successful is insane. There are several ways to lead people in any profession or sport but the very best ones are usually those who display the most character.
25. I like DC's game and he is probably the best local player this year but he is going to really have to develope his outside game to get many minutes at a mid major. That being said he has the potential to develope that part of his game.
