The young guy over at Deweyville is a hometown boy who might be a good fit.He did a pretty good job with a young club this year and worked for several years on a very good Hardin staff.Sometimes these young coaches do a really good job when they come back to their alma matta.

I still think to this day if they woudl have made atleast 5 more free throws they would have been playing for a state championship that year. IMO free throws are as easy as you want them to be, I've seen players just staright up panic when they get the free throw line. Then I've seen other players get up there like its nothing and sink the biggest two shots of the season....its all about muscle memory
I agree with everything you say. However, sometimes, a fluke comes along. Ask LeBron how he felt yesterday when he had two shots to tie the game with the Celtics in the last 10 seconds. Sometimes the mental aspect influences the muscle memory.
True, but I also heard the ESPN announcer quote some sick percentages from Lebron when the game is near the end and the score is close..... something like 90-95% during that time. The only problem with the percentages is sometimes those "5-10%" chances actually happen.
This wasnt ANY game- it was the Celtics
Ok.............. Are you allowed to miss a shot against the 76'ers and not the Celtics?
The suggestion is the pressure is greater against the celts than the sixers. YOu may make a 6 foot putt with me and miss it with Tiger in the foursome
Dont think players are scared of Tiger anymore :D
You lose the fear factor when your wife beats the sh$$ out of you with a golf club ;D

LOL .Now Steve that's a cheap shot :) Blue I think we're on the same page now, some folks look thru rose colored glasses when evaluating their kids playing abilities or their potential.Really a shame to see kids leave their schools and friends behind only to find out the grass isn't always greener on the other side. -

The "somewhere" is the key to the whole discussion. The kids that have a good skill are used to playing in front of pretty big crowds every Tuesday and Friday. They think by changing schools they will get the big time exposure and the D1 offers which is where the pipe dream comes in.You hear every year of kids signing to play at the next level with LaTeDa Tech only to see them back home after one semester. If they want to leave their hometown school to play ball they need to be educated in real world college prospects.
Whoa! Wait a minute. I need to fully understand where you are coming from with this. What is your definition of playing in front of big crowds on Tuesday and Friday nights? Nderland crowds or Fort Bend Bush crowds?
I 'm talking full houses regardless of the size of the venue. You used HJ as a light hearted jab but look at the situation seriously for a second.Ryan and Jarvis were great local players who play in a very small school in Kansas. They were 2 of the very best in SETX, the years they graduated, now imagine for a minute someone transferring over there to play with them. What kind of opportunity would have been there for for them ??Just something for parents to think about before they move just to get their kids in a certain school to play a sport. -

Now theres a question.I have seen the entire Gulf Coast Chapter scratched in some schools. After a scratch and a reassignment years ago I actually heard the coach and an official that was working the game talk about a dinner get together they had planned for the following weekend. -

Lt.Dangle, I agree with ya about Coach Williams. He gets everything they have got to give him.I've seen the Rebels several times this year and it will depend on what type team they meet in the playoffs. If they go against a slow ball control type club they will win those type games. The fast clubs that pressure the ball will give them problems. The Rebels biggest weakness seems to me to be getting back on defense late in the games where stamina becomes an issue. They are about 6 players deep and that hurts them.

West Hardin will make it a little closer playing at home but the Rebels still win it.

Coach English probably deserves a lot of the credit.I've seen some really good coaches emphasize it over the years.Making kids develope good form and practice it late in the workouts will and does translate to success on the court.

.I guess I'll just have to admit the Rebels are the best club in SETX this year and it's not a technical foul to dunk in warm ups or taunt an opponent.I'll just keep going to the games and posting some very elementary observations and someday maybe I can at least measure up to the basketball guru on this thread ;D -

No I'm saying the officials all talk before every game and at meetings. They know players tendacies before they take the court. They use this information to keep games from getting out of control and sometimes they are a little quick on the whistle. How can a dunk in warm up be a bogus call?If the officials are on the floor it's a rule, the official didn't write the rule he just enforced it.If they didn't enforce the rule how would they decide who could break it and who couldn't.The block was an excellent play, plain and simple, players whether it be your son or a total stranger have to realize in a game situation what they can or can not do. -

True I wasn't talking about a pattern in a single game or on a single play I was talking about a pattern over the past 2 seasons.Officials whether it's right or wrong know players tendacies over the course of a season or more, if they have been multi year starters. Is this the first tech that's been called, the second ,the third???D-Ville I am a basketball fan,I look on these boards and see the best matchups and go to the best game that night.I've done that for years ,before I had kids playing and now long after they have graduated .I wanted to check out EC and Anahuac on friday but was late getting off so I thought this was the second best choice. As a lifelong fan of the game I see trends now where some people think the game is about "ME" and not the TEAM.The game is the best sport period in my opinion and will continue to be so if played and coached the right way.I will agree 100% about Coach Williams timeout,it was great and he has done a great job with the club.True this is a message board, didn't know I had to agree with you?????What's with all the threats???Are we gonna arm wrestle or something? As Rodney King would say can't we just all get along??/ -
Like I said the Tech was a bush league call But after that the Rebs took it out on BS by blowing them off the floor from that point. They out scored them in the second half by 29 points. But you must be one of those guys that play with no emotion, That is if you ever played at all. You know you seem to have a problem with me and my son, I just wish you had the guts to come out and quit hiding behind the key board.
True you never cease to amaze me.I haven't got anything against you and have never had anything against your son.THe actions after the block last night will draw a tech nearly every time.Especially when an official see"s a pattern.I played a lot of ball in my life and always tried to play with tons of emotion but it doesn't make much sense to get a great block and then turn around and give the opposing team points and the ball. -
Amen Steve,it doesn't matter how much you wind up if you hit the front iron or clang it off the back.Too much empasis on how "I" look shooting it.

I harped on my boys forever about form and learning to shoot them right. Now you never see them shoot them the same way twice.

Baddog that's what I was talking about, you see alot of blowouts in the regular season but those games are fixing to tighten up.The games will be won or lost from the line.
