1. This game will come down to how Arp takes care of the ball.If they are disciplined and don't turn it over they could easily win.Kountze is a completely different club this year than they have been in the past. They still play good pressing defense but don't have the size they have had in the past that was so hard to pass over the top.Since Linns injury they haven't had a half court game because they simply don't shoot it very well.Linn is a super shooter but it probably isn't fair to expect him to be anywhere close to 100%.All that being said I still like Kountze by 6 in this one.
2. I would love to see Kountze and EC in the regional finals but I think we may be giving the south end of the region a little too much credit.I haven't seen a lot of our neighbors to the north this year but the south end looks to be down a little. It would definitely be fun to make another trip to Tyler to check out the local clubs.
I don't doubt that; however, an earlier post said #11 for West Sabine was 7 for 9 beyond the arc...was he able to get in the gym early?
EVIDENTLY  ;D ;D ;D
4. Speed is in the holder of the gun  ::)If the kid has 80 mph curveball he will be hard to deal with.
5. I would have loved to see that one.
6. Duane in't playing with the same deck he has had in the past. This club will be pretty good but realistically they are at least one year away from becoming a pretty good club.
7.

Woodville missed that 600 win coach this year more than thet will admit.
??? Why the same question?? No. He left. Two different teams in two years and he didnt want to stay. But no the team doesn't miss him... This isn't Warren. Let it go!!
Didn't have anything to do with Warren. After last season I didn't think the coach got the credit he deserved.I don't know him personally but if he won 600 games and took Woodville to the state tournament twice he had to be a good one.I know this was a different bunch and maybe it was just time for him to move.Congrats to the Lady Eagles on your season.
8. I have probably watches as much basket ball as anyone in this area over the past 35 years and I can promise you the coaching at HJ is as good as you'll find in the high school game.Coach Davis puts the girls in position to be successful, it's up to them to execute.Sometimes 15 year old kids execute and sometimes they don't but in this case the coach does all she can do.
9. It's definitely different, you need several shoot arounds to start getting comfortable down there.
10. Anahuac has improved a bunch since early in the year which is typical for Coach West team.
11. I don't hink this will hurt Kountzes confidence at all. They won't see a club like this in the early playoff rounds.I hope I'm wrong but I don't think the Lions have the size or the shooters this year to make a deep run. They will get after the ball on the defensive side but unfortunately I don't think thats enough to get to the regional round.
12. The Rebels lack of ability to put teams away is related to their conditioning. They run out of gas late which is why I have said in the past they need to play 2 big men and rest one to be fresh. The free throw problems unfortunately are hard to fix if you don't shoot them the same way consistantly. In #3 defense it's hard to shoot the 3 in the open arena if you haven't worked on it some. The depth perception can be a little different animal.
13. Woodville missed that 600 win coach this year more than thet will admit.
14. I haven't seen them this year but Navasota is always pretty solid.I watched a few highlights tonight and Sealy looke awful.
15.
I think you're gonna be disappointed lol EC, Buna, Anahuac, and Hardin, and quite possibly Kountze are all better teams than Warren. Don't wanna be a damper but that's a pretty tough district. But theyll be more successful than in football or basketball definitely lol
Now that's goin out on a limb LOL but they are gonna be better than some folks think. They will have to pitch by committee but they are gonna be solid in the field and hit the ball pretty well.
16. The new guy may get some more kids in the gym.Dayton has a ton of atheletes but the times I saw them this year they were not playing.
17. This is becoming a lost art in the high school game.I have watched a ton of games this season and I have never seen so many kids with such poor form. You see them standing with their feet sideways, taking their eye off the rim and even putting a loop in the release. This used to be taught for hours in practice but it seems like it's completely overlooked in todays game. This time of year it's the difference between winning and losing.  4 for 17 from the free throw line will get you beat every time. The Rebels seem to have a little problem with stamina late in the games which sometimes leads to other clubs cutting in to the their leads and also affects their free throw shooting.BucketSitR I saw their loss was to Lufkins JV and I know that sometimes Lufkins JV can look a lot like their varsity(especially on some tournament days)Wasn't a knock on them just my thought on why the game would be close.
18. Time will tell...but, looking at overall talent, if this team were anywhere but Warren, people would be scheduling vacation days for the playoffs. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and schedule those vacation days. These kids were VERY competetive last year as Freshman when I watched them against Buna,Kountze and Evadale. They have took a pounding so far on the gridiron and on the hardwood but they are a salty little bunch on the diamond.Good Luck boys and don't make me waste my vacation.
19. I was picking about the cheap shot Steve, I know you like to give no-look a hard time.I actually had a police officer at the Zavalla tourney one year tell me I couldn't yell so loud for my kids.Thought he was gonna lock me up LOL.
20. Evadale has played a very tough schedule so they shouldn't see anything that surpries them. That being said they weren't very successful against those clubs.West Sabine on the other hand played a pretty easy schedule and had a 20 point plus loss to Kountze and a loss to a JV club earlier this year.Game should be very close.
21. I think West Sabine picked up some kids that used to play down in Brookeland which would explain the depth. They struggled a little early but have been solid in district, I don't know if that comes from improvement or playing in a weak district .I quess we will find out this weekend.I know they got a basketball guy sitting in the supt. chair.
22. That could get interesting, Dayton has always had the horses just needed someone to get em in the gym. This could look a lot like Anahuac West.
23.
Sure wish I could make this game and the whole playoff run for Kountze.  :( I've missed it for the past 2 years being away from Texas with my job.
These won't resemble what you're used to watching KHSAlum400.What round does Kountze get to Crockett in?I think they beat Trinity pretty easy but they don't have the size or the go to players they have had in the past.
24. I haven't heard the whistle, not saying they don't blow it but I haven't heard it this season. It used to be a common occurence.
25. Kountze wins this one by 25. Kountze-85 Trinity-60
