1. You can't blame the Tigers for this years tournament field. The talent level varies so much from year to year you never know what you will face.In all honesty there isn't but a couple of local clubs that could challenge the Tigers and one of them is in their district and they have already played the other one.
2. Thank goodness.I was afraid I was gonna be banned for improper verb usage  ;D ;D
3. When you hit a 23 foot sky hook from the corner you're definitely feelin it.The thing that impressed me the most about the club as a whole was how unselfish they were with the ball. That surprised me.
4. Cayuga always has the athletes but for some reason lose before the make it to the drum.I haven't seen Slocum this year but in the past they have always been very fundamentally sound and would not beat themselves. If Yuga has some players hurt I'll take Slocum strictly because they will be disciplined and won't beat themselves.
5. No doubt the team they beat last night could play and was very well coached. The defensive pressure was definitely yhe difference.I believe the Alabama club had 20 turnovers in the first quarter. The Young kid from Yates reminded me of former Lamar guard Mike Oliver, when he came across the mid court line he got a gleam in is eye.
6. I'm going strictly by memory here so bare with me but how many of these local teams mentioned wound up winning sate?I know the one Ozen club did and a couple of the Lincoln clubs but I think Silsbee had an early playoff exit with the club that lost 1 game. The team that Yates beat yesterday by 30 won the Alabama state 5-a championship last year so no doubt they can play. The scheme Yates runs reminds me of the really good Kountze clubs with more depth. As far as the coaches go Wise is a very good coach who took a few years off to watch his sons play.I don't think Boutte would have a huge advantage on him by any stretch.
7. The Willowridge club could have played with these guys I believe but the local clubs that were mentioned I don't think could hang. The defense these guys play is unreal and Young's shot is scary good.
8.

Where you at TrueBlue?? What's goin on with the Bucs??
I am trying to be nice and not attack anyone SO I will just say that we are a work in progress. Just hope they work it out before next week. There seems to be a little jealousie breaking out between some of the Srs and there post man. At the Kelly game they played the hole 2 and 3 Qr and never feed the ball inside. Kelly did not have anyone on the floor over 6'.  For some reason they now think they are a jump shooting team. In the OF game they just quit pushing the ball in the 2 half. Just walked it up the floor and never atacked the basket and setteled for outside jump shoots and made none . The 2 centers for EC did not have 10 points. OF went on a 10 0 run to start the 3 Qr and EC just seemed to quit. I have confidence that their young coach will have it worked out by next week. He started a hole different 5 in the second half against HJ tonight and they realy pushed up the floor they were the younger players and made some misstakes but he showed the 5 starters that if they dont wont to push the ball he had 5 more that will.
They looked to me like they are going to have to score off their defense and they had several kids that could shoot the ball in streaks.I didn't see any dominate players offensively on the block. The tall kid shot free throws pretty well but didn't seem to be an offensive threat.I guarantee the young guy coaching them will put his 5 best on the floor. From the 4 games I've seen them play so far this year I think the key to them finishing 2nd in the district is getting Carrington well.
9. New Waverly has a pretty good coach and always has some talent. They are usually an undisciplined ball club that gets in trouble in the playoffs against ball control type clubs.I don't see them beating Kountze this year, the Lions are very experienced and will play the same type game NW does only they will be better at it.
10.
he actually has 29 points. He shot two long balls for about 27-28 feet long!!!!
I was trying to keep up and he's scoring faster than I can chart.Did you see the hook at the buzzer?Unreal
11. Young hits a 28 ft hook shot at the first half buzzer. He finished the first half with 30pts after not scoring until midway thru the 1st.We don't have anyone locally that can play with these guys I don't think.
12. Yates is putting on a show.Up by 28 1:00 before half.Young has 28 points in the first half. The pressure they put on the ball is unreal.
13.
Final EC 49 HJ 80
Somebody woke up a monster in this one.
14. I'm taking NW in that one by 10.
15. Who you watching tonight Chad??
16.
East Chambers will get the runner up spot in district behind Kountze.
That would be my prediction too but there isn't much seperation between the next 4 clubs. You could easily see Anahuac or Deweyville beat the Bucs at their respective homes. When you don't have a dominant scorer anything can happen on the road and Anahuac and Deweyville can be VERY challenging places to play.
17. Come on man.The issues you talked about earlier go a lot deeper than Stappert. He is a solid guy and a pretty good coach.I haven't seen where West Sabine has been unstoppable as some folks predicted.Usually when folks go jumping from program to program both programs struggle.Brookeland has a pretty good tradition and they will recover eventually, the kids that bailed on the program will be the ones that lose in the long run.Sad situation for all involved.
18.
Ec is a 9-9 team for a reason never know what team will show up
The times I've seen EC they have pretty well played at about the same level. They don't have many big threats on the offensive end, play pretty good defense and handle the press pretty well. That will keep them in a lot of low scoring ball games and will usually keep them close. They will probably make the playoffs but could easily lose games to Anahuac,D-Ville or Hardin but could also easily beat those 3 clubs.
19. If SA runs with them Kountze will win by 15.
20. Where you at TrueBlue?? What's goin on with the Bucs??
21.
stall ball dont work on a good trapping team
It will if you have a dominant PG.The Lions will see a lot of this from here on out.Kountze is very solid but if you slow them down and don't turn the ball over you can give yourself a chance. If you try to run with them,at least most 2-a clubs they will run you out of the gym.
22. If the Sharks were losing to powerhouse big schools I might agree with you but they aren't very consistant right now.Spurger is the better club(in district)but will need guys healthy to advance very far in the playoffs and Evadale is the 3rd place club.
23. What happened to EC??? I knew Orangefield would be a close ballgame but 37 points is a pretty tough outing.Do they play HJ for 3rd???
24.
Speaking of spurger....anyone want to tell us how they are doing in their own tourney?
They lost a close one to Kirbyville in the first round.I'm not sure why but they always struggle with the tourney on christmas break but usually round back into form when they get back to school.
25. I have been surprised at the members of this district so far.Evadale has been the biggest surprise to me.I had them picked 4th and they are better than I thought they would be.Spurger has been hit by the injury bug and that has kept them from being as good as they can be.They still get the nod as the favorite but they will need to get healthy to make a playoff run. They can be a serious threat to win the region if healthy.I wouldn't call the Sharks a phenomenal club, they have some potential but they haven't been very consistant with big losses to Nederland,Vidor and CHSA.The loss that really puzzled me was the one to Deweyville. The SP club I saw last year would beat Deweyville I believe.I haven't seen any of the other clubs but if history is any teacher I think HD will be decent.
