If the kid I'm talking about developes in a couple of areas he will be hard to keep off the varsity.I thought I saw him on the varsity roster at the regional tourney and I saw him play a couple of real good games on the JV last year against Silsbee.I don't have a clue who he is but he has a lot of potential.Who does HJ have at the bigs??? And how many seniors do they have??

BUT WISH YA'LL THE BEST......WE 3A STATE BOUND BABYY!!!!!!!!
The new kid is just a peace of the team, there are no stand out players on this team, But as a team they look real good, very balanced with size inside and a great set of shooters on the outside. After watching the games Tuesday with EC and HF, and I know this is just summer ball and scores dont mean anything, but this should be another good season for HJ.
If Gus and Sutherland are on the squad they have a couple of standouts. They also had a kid on the JV last year that was big and had a ton of potential.Something tells me you won't recognize him this coming season. He is gonna be solid.

Three schools in four years is hard to adapt to. I hope he doesn't look back in a few years and wish he would have stayed put. There isn't anything wrong with being a decent ballplayer in a small district.

The success of both the programs in this topic are the result of the system. Both systems are mirror images of each other from a philosophy standpoint.Truth is alot of good high school players don't have the total package to play in college regardless of the calls from the coaches.Devin will play on the JUCO level unless he improves his ball handling and jump shooting abilities. If he does that the sky is the limit.Jacolby has mad defensive skills but doesn't have the total package to play D1 ball. It's plain and simple folks, the kids that play at HJ this season will conduct themselves as team players or they won'y play. That's the way it should be.

I'm gonna keep those days penciled in on my calendar for sure. -
I wouldn't worry too much about the summer league games. They are a good way to keep the kids off the couch and in the gym but stalling the ball isn't the end of the world.Actually it may be more challenging than the no defense ,run and gun you usually see.

Kountze coach on Central basketball list
whsalum replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee,Kountze and Hardin Jefferson are always at the top of the heap in Southeast Texas and you don't have to look down the bench far to see why these clubs are always so well prepared. The guy in the second seat at any of these 3 schools are better than most clubs head guy.You won't see much of a turnover if any of these head guys were to leave. -

The next Kountze coach is probably already on the bench ;) -

How many of the state champions would beat UConn women?
yall dont understand that girls level of basketball and guys level of basketball is a huge difference....now don't get me wrong there good but guys would get up and down the court a whole lot faster
On the same level there is a huge difference but this poll was about the best college girls team ever and every classification of a boys high school state tournament. No disrespect to Lamars elite 8 team but they aren't in the same class as these ladies. There were times this year when I watched UCONN and they did the fundamental things every bit as good as the guys, especially at the high school level. -

Consolidation may be the answer here. Its 12 miles to Woodville,18 to Corrigan and less than that to Colmesneil. It makes athletic and economic sense. -
Only if they get Boutte back or open up a coaching search.
ALL 6 WOULD BEAT EM!!!
You're dreaming. One of these girls has a 26" vertical, now there isn't many guys at the high school level that can jump like that .After watching the first half I'm taking Bush off the list. The U Conn women would go 5-1 against this years state champs. The run the floor, handle the press, screen and shoot the ball better than any womens team I've ever seen.Yates I think would just be too fast for them but they were #1 in the nation at the high school level. -
Duane runs a great one at Kountze.Usually has some real good clubs there.

I have no doubt that Cayuga could play with the local clubs but I don't think many of this years state champs beat the UConn group. -

Former HJ head basketball coach Carol Sims was recently selected to coach the Greater Houston area south all star team this past weekend at the Merrill Center in Katy Texas.Coach Sims was assisted by former Barbers Hill great and current Livingston head coach Pennie Hall.Coach Sims' club won a close ball game pulling away by 5 in the closing seconds.I hope this isn't the last time this coach paces the sidelines because I know the competetive side of her and she loves the game as much as anyone I've ever seen .Breaking down American Idol just isn't quite as exciting as listening to an upcoming game plan, come on sis you're to young to watch ;D ;D

Basketball at any level is about match ups and maturity. If you would tell me the U Conn women couldn't compete with the mens stellar D1 clubs such as Duke and Kansas I would agree with you whole heartedly but that wasn't the question. The U Conn ladies are made up of the very best ladies to play the womens game and are for the most part all around 22 years old.The average age of the high school player is going to be 16/17 years old so who gets the edge in maturity??An earlier poster said the ladies wouldn't get a shot off,you need to watch these ladies CLOSE.Everything they do comes off screens and all that takes is position and discipline.I know everyone on this board has watched the college 3 point contest and the ladies always hold their own against the COLLEGE guys. The Yates club was exceptional this year and could beat a lot of small college clubs so I would give them a slight edge.Maybe we could get Geno to schedule this as a fundraiser for cancer ;) ;)If I could get Vegas to run a line on it I would make some money on this one. -

Polls are just opinions and usually the only spot that is a lock is the number 1 spot. It's hard to argue that one the champion is the best plain and simple. The rest you have to look at objectively, just because a club goes to the state tourney doesn't mean they are in the top 4.Some regions are weak and you wonder how they ever made it while some are stacked and you have some very good clubs eliminated early.Player rankings are also just an opinion and will always vary. Two things are for certain in Spurgers case, they will miss Daniel but they will be very good again next season. -

I watched Zane and Bucky playand they were good ball players.Bucky was solid but not the basketball player that the rest of the white were,he was a great football player.I don't remember much about Zane until his senior season and all the other guys on this list were standout players for years.Heres a name in the Hoffpaeur family that was a very good player that you probably don't know, Bobby. That was Zanes dad and he was a very good player. -

Folks ya'll aren't watching these girls play if you think they would go 0-5 against the high school clubs in Texas. You don't win 70 games in a row at any D1 sport in college and play like little girls.Yates would be tough on them with pure speed. They beat the rest of these clubs. -
They just got the best coach in the conference hands down.Should be a very attractive job at Sam with 8 returners and a conference championship and NCAA tourney bid to help on the recruiting side.
