It would fit right into Lamar's degree program
They certainly aren't or I would be on the front row demanding to know where it went.It amazes me how little most folks know about where their school taxes go .
 2. Jeff "the jet" Bergeron. They don't come along everyday with that kind of ability.
HJ is overrated every year... until they win 30 games and go several rounds deep into the playoffs.  That being said, they're overrated at #3 in the state right now, but they'll still have a very good team again this year.  they're going to be taller and deeper than last year.  you can't replace jacoby, but prudhomme looks like he's ready to be the go-to man, we have our starting PG back, a light's out shooter, a couple of capable big men, and a better bench than last year.
I try to be objective every year but I don't see Kountze being anywhere close to what they have been over the past several years, HJ on the other hand I think will be every bit as good as they were last year. They will miss Turners quickness but they have a real young kid that is gonna turn some heads and kid who was on the JV last year that made HUGE strides this summer.Throw in their returning starters and they will be very good. One thing going for Kountze is they play early in the season  before the football injuries will completely heal but HJ still wins this one easily.

Spurger has Big George and Chase but after that is????? Evadale has 5 Starters returning this year... Should be a great game for the small schools
After watching both clubs this summer I'd take Spurger by a dozen in this match up.Coach Williams will help the Rebels no doubt but Spurger will get the edge when it comes down to basketball players.I have a feeling the Spurger coach will have a few players developed by the time these 2 teams meet.Plus the Pirates will get alot of practice while the Rebels are still playing football.I will put this one on my calendar to watch though.
You may have a point there, the way the Rebs are playing football now , Spurger may get 3 or 4 weeks headstart on the hardfloor. ;)
That was my point, this is a good group at Evadale in several sports and will be hard to replace. The headstart will be greater than that because Spurger will hit the hardwood next week and Evadale could easily go a couple of rounds deep in the football playoffs.
To help the area economy. To help bring in more room space for all the sporting events that will come to the area. And to help SETXsports report more sports and get more advertising ;D
Those are all noble causes but none should be the responsibility of the local school district and more importantly the tax payers of BISD.The out cry from taxpayers over the financial failures of Ford Park would pale in comparison to the can of worms this would open.Having sat on a school board for several years I can assure you this isn't a headache the trustees want or need.
 7. They may work better as a unit but they won't be a better team. They played team ball last year but they graduated 4 very good starters.I don't think that will help them at all.If they don't play as a unit this year it could be a pretty dissapointing season.
 8. They will be above average locally but I didn't see the big dogs this summer that they usually have. They will really have to win as a team this year because they don't have the star power they have had in the past.
 9.
Will Spurger and Sabine Pass play a non district game this year?
Sabine Pass graduated a ton so it won't be pretty if they do.
 10. There goes a bunch of the "HEY LOOK AT ME " AAU events !!!!!
Well, at EC, I don't think you can apply the "mediocre" label to football or basketball.  :)
I'll agree with that whole heartedly.EC and Silsbee are 2 of the local schools where the football and basketball programs both excel but they are the exception rather than the rule. The really good basketball programs in the area work in the gym all the time which goes against the majority of the football AD'S mindset.
 13. The little blonde headed kid who shoots the 3 will help them.Their biggest challenge is gonna be on the boards. They are gonna pressure the ball well enough to beat most 2-a clubs locally but are gonna struggle this year in the playoffs.
 14. That pretty well sums it up.
 15. The advantage of all the kids being grown, I pick up the paper and go to the best matchup that night regardless of classification.HJ/Silsbee, Ktz/Anahuac will be 2 of the better small school games this year.
 16. You could put the football coach as AD and take the kids out of the gym and get mediocre real quick in both sports.
 17. I hope for LCM that they get cleared however just because a school district is open doesn't mean athletes can transfer and continue playing without a release from the old district. It is not uncommon at all for a coach not to release a kid.
 18. He will be successful wherever he goes !!!!

 21. This is really a sad situation. It will be years before this young man realizes what a 4 year free ride to Baylor not only cost but what it would have been worth once he got his degree. The folks that dealt out such light punishment when he got caught in high school have to share some of the blame.
 22. I am very familiar with Spurger having carried teams over there and played for years. The will miss Daniel not only as a shooter but as a leader. That being said the young guy they have coaching over there will do a great job of developing the other kids. They have bought in to his system and will come along quickly. The group of kids at Evadale this year are a good bunch of athletes and are successful in all sports.I watched them quite a bit this summer and they hold there own against most schools but the "basketball" clubs give them trouble. You give a good coach 2 really good players (McGallion and Whittacre) at the 1-a level and he'll win alot of games. My biggest concern with Evadale and their new 6'7" center would be team chemistry.I hope everything goes well for him this season but he left Evadale disgruntled as a soph, left EC mid season as a Jr. and left HJ before playing a game. The average fan would have to be skeptical , don't you think ???
 23.
anahuac, kountze, and ec was all in it last year
Yea I saw all 3 play there last year. I was kinda surprised to see 3 clubs from the same district that will all be pretty close in talent get together again in the same tournament.True your right about depth several of these clubs do use it to find depth. Unfortunately most of your 1-a schools won't have depth, in my opinion Spurger was probably the only area 1-a school that could have competed with this field. After lookin at the field I 'm gonna take off a couple of days and check this out.
 24. Yep they could have held there own in this one. Kinda surprised to see Anahuac, Kountze and EC all 3 in it.
 25. I would have liked to see Spurger in this tournament. They have a couple of real solid players coming back.
