1. It ain't always the size of the dog in the fight,it's the size of the fight in the dog.I watched Cayuga a couple of times this past week and they could darn sure challenge any of the local schools. You're exactly right about the Lions, the only local 3-a clubs that play with them locally are HJ,Silsbee and Cleveland and they have already played 2 of those. No disrespect to Kountze's club this year but I don't think they have Austin potential like some of the clubs in recent years.Duane will schedule what he needs to get them ready and he will get all they have to give.
 2. Not going to Al T's makes me miss my many trips to EC.Gotta love the grub !!!!
 3. I'm all for second chances. If they wanted one they could continue working and get it next year if they were underclassmen. Some times you have to take responsibility and learn from your mistakes.Unfortunately if these kids were seniors they should be done.
 4. I was imprssed with Gonzales,he was alot better than I thought he was.I don't know alot of Kountzes younger players but Lin got hurt in their second game and I don't think McDaniel had a real good tourney. What did Kountze finish in the tourney place and record??
 5. Sells is a good player but they don't beat Silsbee,HJ or Kountze with or without him.Who does Woodville have that has an outside shot. The time I saw them play earlier this year Sells scored off the dribble and at the line but their perimeter game was terrble.
 6. Tramain Thomas would be on mine along with several from Kountze.I would have to get some programs but Ashton Hall,Hancock and Coffey would have to get some serious consideration.

Hunter Gonzales is WAY to low on this list and McDaniel is to high.I saw Gonzales play several game over at HJ this weekend and I was impressed, the kid can play.
What list? Are you talking about my personal list? If so, that's how I personally see it. Let's see your list.
I'll have to a little more homework to put my top 10 together.I was commenting on you list because the Gonzales kid caught my eye at HJ this weekend.I had heard of him before but never knew he was good as he is.I think Zay has all the tools but has been associated with Walker and Bray in the past and hasn't developed into the kind of player alot folks say he is.One thing for sure DC is the areas best this season.
 8.
There is no reason to sugar coat it. I have been with this group of boys sense they were 8 and they all know that I tell it like I see it. Their point guard that they have played sense they were 8 desided that it was more important to be a daddy than play ball his Sr year, what a waist :(
Come on True, you weren't with this group of boys last year.Give the kid a break, once he became a daddy that was the most important thing.Sometimes folks make mistakes, it's good to see them take responsibilty when they do.

 10. We all get on the officials when we aren't satisfied with their work so I gotta give em props for their work at the HJ marathon.I didn't have anyone playing so I went and checked out several games strictly as a fan.The crew that did the Evadale/Cayuga game was excellent(Mike Simpson,Bubba Bridges and a gentleman I didn't know). As a whole I thought all the crews I watched were very good and deserve to know it.Good jobs guys.
Ah, heres a person that knows basketball. I'll find me a match to stop a spot up shooter in high school basketball anyday. Getting Nash started up again ;)
Amen, but if you don't have a good true PG you have to adapt. I am here and ready to start.  I would disagree with you because "some people" forget that basketball is a team game where all five players have a role (at least for the better teams) in making things happen.  Some defender might be capable of stopping a spot up shooter one on one, but a decent coach will get that shooter shots regardless of how good the particular defender is.   It really isnt that difficult to force "that defender" to cover someone else via screen/multiple screens.  Additionally, any spot up shooter who is going to be "shut down" by the defender will have that defender in his face.  Even the slowest of the slow that has any kind of basketball intellect has a response to that type of defensive effort.    If that defender holds his spot up shooting opponent to no shots taken or very few taken, the spot up shooter has simply provided some of his teammates with additional opportunities they might otherwise not have had.
I knew you would come out sooner. But you make valid points. Lets just hope the "other teammates can score.
IF none of the teammates can score, then your "team" has little chance.
Give me a true point guard with the ability to score (shoot & drive), pass the ball, he'lll make his weaker teammates look good ;)
12. There are many ways to beat pressure on the ball if you don't have a true PG.I can guarantee the Rebels have a coach who can teach them to do it.The biggest problem I saw with the Rebs in the game against Cayuga was the kid who should have been taking the ball at the mid court area.
 13. Evadale doesn't have a true point guard but I wouldn't call their guard play weak. They have 1 excellent shooter, #3 I think was his number. They had another blond headed kid who was pretty fast and was a pretty solid defender. #44 and #32 were very solid on the block.Lawrence will have the rebels playing well in another week or so. #21, I think thats Dunnigan, can fill in to give the 2 big boys a break and this club wiil be pretty good at the 1-a level.
 14. Travis didn't tell anyone they had to get a haircut, he simply laid down some groundrules for HIS team. The rest is up to the student.I hate to think how long it's been since I played but my coach had a ruler and measured everyones hair before we exited the locker room. There has to be a chain of command in every organization and Travis is at the top of this one.Go get em Coach !!!!!!!
I just can't see Noah Cole pulling up and busting a 20 footer on the Kelly JV. I can remember when that program was feared by some and respected by all.

 17.
69 to 26, Terrible game. 2 half Evadale just walking the floor, not a good game to  get ready for the type of teams that Evadale will have to face this weekend. ???
You can never tell what you are gonna get with the Louisiana clubs, sometimes they are really good and other times they show up with a bunch of jr high players.
 18. This is as much a Legacy issue as it is a Central issue.Every year they schedule way above their head and get destroyed. They had a good club 3 or 4 years ago but need to play the 1-a clubs locally to be competetive this year.
 19. If Clevelands low post player is healthy, he was probably 6'5" and was developing in to a real nice player.I didn't get to check out the YMBL this weekend but I think he is healthy and playing. They had a couple of more guards who were probably 6'2.HJ has one post player hurt who is probably their tallest player.Persohn for HJ is probably 6'2 and Prudhomme I'm guessing 6'3".Persohn plays bigger than his heighth and Prudhomme plays more on the perimeter than in the paint.
 20.
Does their coach use the platoon method and sub 5 in and out regularly?  Are they better shooting this year than last?  I know they arent as tall, but in 3AAA one big can do alot of damage.  Compared to Cleveland and Hardin Jefferson are  they smaller or bigger?  Just curious, I havent seen any of them play.
He doesn't platoon a complete team but plays 10 or 11 players. He plays Stallworth all he can( I don't blame him a bit for that). They shoot the ball well but are gonna score more of the defensive pressure this year than last.HJ isn't real big this year so that's about an even match.Cleveland is probably bigger overall than the Tigers or the Hawks.
 21.

They have a TON of potential but will really have to develope to beat last years group which was pretty special. They had size, speed and shooters. This group is gonna be very good but will beat people in a completely different way. They are scary deep which is their biggest strength other than DC.
I can't argue with your analysis but I did feel our outside shooting was lacking a little last year.  We should have a little more this year.
I think the kds name that I was so impressed with shooting last years name was Hill.He was quick as a cat and could pull up and bust a beautiful long range jumper.

 23. I didn't know that, they usually have some really good players in that one.
 24.
CH was ranked 25th?? idk now. But look at who woodville has played and tell me the two teams they lost too arent better-than-average teams. When theyre on, noone in that district can beat them. The question is, can they turn it on long enough to hold onto this district??
You need to get out and watch some more high school hoops.I'm not trying to dog Woodville but they aren't nearly as dominate as you make them.In the game against Silsbee they were completely outta contol. That works when your playing in the summer but won't win you many in January or February.
 25. Got a good breakdown of the all the tourneys but what about the MVP and All Tourney teams.I haven't heard of any of the selections at Big Sandy,Evadale, Sabine Pass or High Island.
