4. This is really a sad situation. It will be years before this young man realizes what a 4 year free ride to Baylor not only cost but what it would have been worth once he got his degree. The folks that dealt out such light punishment when he got caught in high school have to share some of the blame.
5. I am very familiar with Spurger having carried teams over there and played for years. The will miss Daniel not only as a shooter but as a leader. That being said the young guy they have coaching over there will do a great job of developing the other kids. They have bought in to his system and will come along quickly. The group of kids at Evadale this year are a good bunch of athletes and are successful in all sports.I watched them quite a bit this summer and they hold there own against most schools but the "basketball" clubs give them trouble. You give a good coach 2 really good players (McGallion and Whittacre) at the 1-a level and he'll win alot of games. My biggest concern with Evadale and their new 6'7" center would be team chemistry.I hope everything goes well for him this season but he left Evadale disgruntled as a soph, left EC mid season as a Jr. and left HJ before playing a game. The average fan would have to be skeptical , don't you think ???
6.
anahuac, kountze, and ec was all in it last year
Yea I saw all 3 play there last year. I was kinda surprised to see 3 clubs from the same district that will all be pretty close in talent get together again in the same tournament.True your right about depth several of these clubs do use it to find depth. Unfortunately most of your 1-a schools won't have depth, in my opinion Spurger was probably the only area 1-a school that could have competed with this field. After lookin at the field I 'm gonna take off a couple of days and check this out.
7. Yep they could have held there own in this one. Kinda surprised to see Anahuac, Kountze and EC all 3 in it.
8. I would have liked to see Spurger in this tournament. They have a couple of real solid players coming back.
9. Yuga is always pretty solid and you never know what you'll get with Dayton. They have some horses over there but may still be shaking the football rust off. They must feel like they will be a little better or they probably wouldn't have came to HJ.Where is Huntington this year ?
10. How in the world could you connect the Tea Party and racism ??? Having a little common sense in no way makes you a racist ;)
11. Who would have thought the new world order would be directly tied to the order of finish in 21 aaa.
12. I may take some of that action Dawg :)
13.
Evadale had enough returning players to match up with some of the local 2-a clubs but they won't beat the better ones in the area.I think Kountze,Anahuac and EC are the cream of the 2-a crop around here in the upcoming season. All 3 of these clubs are gonna pressure the ball and score off their defense. That would create match up nightmares for Evadale. The Rebels will match up well against Buna, Hardin and Deweyville, those would be good ballgames to watch.
Read this post again True.I didn't say that Kountze,Anahuac or EC would have a lot more talent(but they will).I said they would create match up nightmares which is what you said wins games.I agree with that 100%.I don't mean this to down Evadale at all, I was impressed with them this summer they just did not match up well with teams that push the ball and pressure the floor.Inserting the big kid won't speed up the Rebels. They will make the playoffs without a doubt.I wish I could say I had only been watching small school ball for 30 years.
14.
this running back from kountze seems to be above average.  i just saw ( on tv ) what he did to warren!  does warren have any kind of team this year?  what is the chances of this guy running wild like that on the other teams in district?
Warren is in a rebuilding mode this season. They only suit about 18 players and most of their skill players are underclassmen. They are real small and struggle against the run period.Kountze will win one district game this year and that was last night.Thats not a knock on Kountze there are just several pretty good clubs in the district this year.
15.
You cant bace anything on a summer league game ,with a running clock no foul count and no coach. I have watch all the teams that you are tlalking about play the real games. JMO Evadale can play with all of them. But that is something that we will get to see in just a few weeks ;D
I can base talent whether it's summer league or playing in the parking lot.The clubs I mentioned in 2-a will be down from last year but they are still probably 15 points better than the Rebels.
16.
That isn't even a funny thought!!
You gotta admit though it would make them an instant contender LOL.
17. Buna over Warren in 3.
18. The mismatch I spoke of with Kountze and Anahuac are all about speed. They aren't going to walk the ball up the floor and wait on people to come set up in the lane. They are going to pressure the ball run the floor and score on the break.I've watched them do it ALOT over the last  several years including ALOT this summer.Once again Evadale will be very well coached and will win the games their supposed to win.One player won't make them a state contender (unless Stallworth decides to move from Silsbee over there).I'm ready for em to toss it up.
19.
I wouldn't be surprised if this years Kountze team outperforms last years....there is something to be said for team chemistry and when no one cares who gets the credit...that can make up for a lot of deficiencies
I would be amazed.Team chemistry is one thing but they lost alot of horses outta that barn.
20. Kountze will be in contention for the district crown as always but aren't anywhere near as strong as they have been over the past several years.Duane will have them playing as well as they can play and that will be good enough to beat most the area 2-a clubs.
22. Anahuac,Newton and EC I think are the front runners.
23. Gus won't sneak up on anyone, everybody in SeTexas is already watching him.
24. Both teams will score but EC will play better defense and win by a couple of touchdowns. EC-35 Hardin-21 Hardin,Buna and Woodville all have good clubs that I don't see making the playoffs.
