  1. Keep stacking wins, Dogs….keep building, keep improving, keep battling…like what I’m seeing from these young Dogs
  2. That no quit business will go a long way
  3. Do spiders hibernate? great win dogs when no one thought you would! Another building block…just put pieces together guys…now on to next week..just keep getting better each week
  4. Now we are getting somewhere…spider is an axe grinder with an agenda perhaps…that’s why he gets on here and complains every 15 minutes good win, Dogs…build on that!! The season started last night and now it’s about improvement every week…the competition will get tougher, but control what you can control, (yourselves)and get better each week
  5. Some people just enjoy being miserable...I say, just let them be miserable by themselves
  6. You did not have similar talent to png last year...the fact that they had a good chance to win that game at the end, could it possibly have anythng to do with coaching? If you are going to look at things, look at them in their entirety.
  7. It was an extreme example on purpose...the point is, just saying that any coach should be able to win no matter the talent level is ridiculous.
  8. I will use and extreme example, but let's just say the KC Chiefs play Sabine Pass in football? If Sabine Pass loses, is it the coaches fault exclusively or do maybe the players/level of talent have something to do with it?? Just labeling your argument as "blaming the kids" is easy and frankly lazy IMO...if you portray someone as putting all the blame on the poor kiddos, it's easy to paint those folks as villains...the bottom line is that sometimes you just don't have the Jimmy's and Joe's...you need good coaching AND good players to have serious success
  9. Forgive Reagan...he isn't too good at math and doesn't realize that you would run out of coaches...maybe then, some of the "coaches" in the stands could take over and we could see how that goes?? And huge agreement with Smashmouth when he added parent and community support to my previous post...those are critical as well.
  10. This stuff isn’t that hard…reality is that you need both, coaching and talent…too many folks live in a world of absolutes, saying “it’s all the kids” or “it’s all the coaching “ when neither is true…great coaches have bad years and talented teams fail to meet expectations all the time il assure you this, there ain’t many no talent teams winning championships but plenty of very talented ones who have success, but don’t win the whole thing
  11. Bally's is far better...they used to be Fox Sports Southwest and broadcast the Rangers and Mavericks as well...they carry of the state championship games
  12. I have only seen SOC from last week, but based on that small sample size, I believe that png has an excellent chance to win this game...SOC is big, but png can somewhat match that...I was impressed by the SOC defense, but not so much by the offense
  13. Well, I will reserve judgement on the new coach until we can see what he does, however, not reaching out to an "open door" to the most successful coach in college football is ludicrous and I simply cannot understand that
  14. The unfortunate truth is that coming to Lamar would be potentially career killing for Barbay, who is a star on the rise in the coaching ranks…he will get his HC opportunity based on his success and it will be better than Lamar…think about what a couple of 1-10 seasons on the resume would do for Barbay, who is a star on the rise…until Lamar proves it will support its athletic programs, any coach coming here is taking a serious risk….how many HC calls do you figure Coach Morgan will get going forward??
  15. Coaching is important, but without players, it can only go so far; coaching is about getting the most out of what you have and building culture
  16. might be my first like ever for you, reagan, but I'll gi might be my first like ever for you, reagan, but I'll give you one for having a sense of humor...lol
  17. By the 7 year rule, Bobby August should have had more time...lol
  18. Buddy remembers...lol
  19. Nolan Ryan pitched 27 seasons and never won a Cy Young...guess he's a failure?
  20. Appreciate you validating my point
  21. Heck, Reagan used to gripe about Neumann, too...lol...you bring in someone else, and short of winning state every year, he will be against them, too
  22. I am going to reserve judgement on Nederland until this group has a chance to be refined...they are very young and I am still very confident that their best football is ahead of them (if they can avoid listening to people like the one's on here)...this year saw the program lose a number of players and key contributors for various reasons that, from what I know of, are very abnormal and unusual circumstances...it left the team with more holes to fill than usual; they are filling them as best they can, and will be stronger for it down the line...tough times don't build character, they reveal it...some of the naysayers on here are showing theirs, but hey, it's an opinion board and everybody is entitled to theirs...I said it on another thread and I'll repeat it here, to blame coaching during a bad season, to me, is just too easy, lazy, and low hanging fruit...let's see what happens over the long haul...these same coaches had a group of kids in the 3rd round just 2 seasons ago that frankly, not many thought would be there...are they worse coaches now or maybe, just maybe, are the circumstances different this season? Just a little something to think about
  23. These are very good points...to complain about coaching when things aren't going your team's way is frankly lazy and just low hanging fruit IMO....it's just too easy to blame coaches for a bad season...coaching, high school especially since they have no control over their talent pool, should be judged over time and what they are able to do with the level of talent they are given...it has always amazed me that a coaches intelligence is somehow directly corelated to the level of talent they have. The Belichek and Payton examples are good ones...has Belichek suddenly gone from "the greatest coach ever" to a blithering idiot since losing Brady? I doubt that...likely truth is that he wasn't as great as he was made out to be before and he isn't near as bad as he is made to be now...bottom line is that he has a long-standing track record of success...is Sean Payton a "bad coach" because he couldn't win a simple pee wee super bowl as an NFL coach, or did maybe, just maybe, the other team have better players? I'm just gonna go out on a limb and guess that Sean was probably a better coach than whoever was on the other sideline, it just did not translate into a "W"...the same happens every week and every year in high school ball
  24. Preach BayouB... I made the same point last week...this same staff dramatically OVER achieved just season before last...agree, same staff, different players...they are young and need to adjust to Friday night speed and these guys will improve as the season progresses...what that looks like, who knows, but I think it bodes well for the next couple of years I'm just glad I will never have to be in a foxhole with spidersal
  25. Who blamed the kids? You sound like MSNBC trying to spin a story... lol..heck, Etheridge's last year coaching at Round Rock, he was 2-8...did he suddenly become a subpar coach or were the circumstances different??? my guess is, the man was still one hell of a football coach
