  1. I clearly said that Crosby was favored...what part of that did you miss?
  2. said the same years ago when I went to watch vidor play Summer Creek in a playoff game...vidor was never going to stop the SC offense, so why ever punt and they should have onside kicked every time...that night anyway, whether SC had 90 yards or 50 yards to travel, the result was going to be the same, a score...why not at least give yourself a chance to get or keep the ball
  3. Crosby 98 Nederland -6 Based on 14.2, that's the only prediction I can make...not sure how Nederland scores negative points, but the mighty mecca can somehow make that happen, I'm sure reality is that Crosby is a big favorite and should win this game...just for fun, I would like to go ahead and have the boys lace 'em up and play anyway
  4. lol...Leeroy ain't getting under my skin...I was actually just poking some fun at him a bit and trying to get under his. one thing we can agree on is the best of luck to our local teams that are fortunate enough to make the post season...let's play a few weeks after the regular season and have make some memories along the way
  5. if that's all that matters to your season, then congrats and enjoy watching the playoffs from the couch...you are telling me that if png was 1-9 with the lone win being over Nederland every year that you would be ok? keep in mind that you were a QB injury to nederland away from this week being irrelevant and already being out of the playoffs...
  6. Man, I wonder why Nederland is even bothering to make the trip???sounds pretty hopeless against the all powerful mecca of Texas HS football
  7. Yep...dogs I believe just secured no worse than a 2 seed with the png loss...that would mean a first round home game
  8. Massive effort by the Dogs...they did not play a clean and near perfect game, but they never folded, kept punching, overcame some hellaciously bad calls late in the game and got the W...super proud of the effort and that is something to build on for the rest of this season...gritty and I love it
  9. That’s not the way it works...it goes to point differential between the 3 teams...png is toast in this scenario due to the huge loss to BH
  10. You likely know better than me about the numbers...a very unofficial source told me that the BH 8th grade class was the biggest they ever had and that would count in next realignment, thus my thoughts...I could easily be wrong about that
  11. For starters, BH had better get used to playing bigger schools...rumor has it that their enrollment will cause a move up next realignment. To me, BH is the clear favorite here...Nederland has a solid team, but I, too, watch Nederland every year, and I would not consider this team to be an "above average" Nederland team...I am a big Dog fan, but the most recent 3 wins were against the bottom feeders from the district, who frankly, just weren't very good...that said, Nederland did what they should do to these teams and beat them all handily...BH will not fall into that category. For what it's worth, I think Nederland, full healthy, is a bit better than png...I know png beat Nederland this year, but our QB got injured in that game and missed about half of it and wasn't full strength when he returned...injuries like that cannot happen against BH or it will be a long night for the Dogs...BH manhandled png, so it would stand to reason that Nederland needs to play a clean, mistake free game to compete with BH, that said, I think they can pull it off: Dogs 38 BH 35
  12. gonna have to change the fight song to "always be faithful to purple and white and gray"
  13. I am going to change spiders name to "Mr. Optimistic"... he always looks at the bright side when it comes to Nederland. I think Nederland will be OK and I do agree that they need to improve...I think you are putting too much stock in the png loss...they played without their dual threat QB for nearly half of that game and he wasn't healthy when he came back in...it's all part of the game, but he seems to be better now and if he stays healthy, he gives that offense a whole different dynamic. room for improvement? absolutely!! dead in the water...no. Go Dogs!
  14. 38-7 is pretty lopsided, especially when you consider that Nederland is at it's best when they play ball control...not sure what you were expecting???
  15. You really can’t say the officiating was one sided towards nederland...the last flag was extremely late and thrown by the back judge who was 20 yards away when 2 officials on that side threw nothing...as with most games, many factors led to the outcome, most not to do with officials, but I can’t sit here and listen to png gripe about calls . Another game changing example was the late hit on our QB that causes him to miss nearly 2 full quarters...that’s impactful. entertaining game...congrats to png on the outcome
  16. That's what a team who is afraid of losing usually brings up
  17. not with the offense vidor runs...pre-season is about getting ready for district and the rest of the season; not too many teams run the offense that vidor does, so playing them doesn't help prep a ton
  18. look, the kid is a special basketball talent and anyone who says otherwise just doesn't understand the game...I think he is asked to do too much on this Nederland team, but I think that is out of necessity to a large degree...consistently, teams double team him and rotate fresh defenders on to him in an effort to keep him somewhat in check...if he isn't any good, then why are they doing this??? The Dogs lack enough other playmakers to offset this and the really good teams can focus an inordinate amount of resource/defense on Hefner. I think the "athlete" question is pretty moot...best athlete does not translate to best basketball player...Russel Westbrook may be the best athlete in the NBA, but while is a very good player, no one would argue that he is the best player in the league...Hef has a high basketball IQ, passes the ball and sees the floor extremely well, has a pretty good shot (which will only improve), and can jump out of the gym...his future is bright! anybody trashing him on here really needs to look at the big picture and frankly, get a life...he is clearly one of the best in the area
  19. Good thing that your scenario hardly ever happens, AAW...it been a while since NEITHER team was in playoff position NC and Porter will be a great game, no doubt, but it wont sniff they intensity and excitement of MCM
  20. Cmon, Jake...how could poor old nederland with their crappy field and all best high and mighty png? I figure it’s gonna be about 87-2 for png seriously, I am looking for a competitive game...dogs 36, png 34
  21. negative aki...the long row to nowhere is a problem at png...at least you can leave to go to the bathroom without walking over 60 people on Nederland's visitor side. And I agree about the back and forth banter...it's what makes this so much fun! continue please...I just love that png is already thinking about something other than the Dogs before the game starts
  22. png9mom is testy this week! put a hand in the mud, line up, smack somebody and may the best team win! go dogs!
  23. Exactly...last time I checked, both teams have to play on it...if it hurts your feelings to play on grass, stay home...I love the fact that its even an issue or thought for png
  24. Might be the first time in a while that vidor will actually be the favorite in this game
