I think a lot of people on here don't understand that Yates is playing for a chance at a national championship something that is unheard of for just about every high school in America. I also think that if yall were 16, 17, or 18 with a chance at a national championship, and you were as good as Yates, then you would be trying to do everything in you can to win one (including beating teams by over 100 points). Also, would we be so quick to call it classless if this team were one of our local teams?
If they played in the manner that Yates plays to get this attention, then yes.

Lamar loses to Texas St. in OT

Just going by what the PA announcer said last night. BTW, what's Sam's largest crowd this year? -
I was in attendance last night ( season ticket holder but that was just the 3rd game I have seen this year :-[). The alley oop dunk was one of the best I have ever seen. I agree, it would be a top 10 on ESPN. Lamar just can't handle the ball under pressure. Way too many turnovers. But my biggest pet peave is with Custer. That guy is weak underneath. He can't power anything to the rim. He constantly is getting the ball knocked from his hands or he is fumbling it himself while trying to go to the rim with it. Pathetic!

[Hidden Content] Last night's attendance of 3,454 is the largest crowd so far this season in all of the SLC.

I have seen all 3 teams play (Spurger and Evadale both played Silsbee) and Spurger wins this district hands down. They have the better team and the better players. Evadale and SP will battel for second with the other getting 3rd. I can see SP defeating Evadale at their place. We'll see. Neither team will beat Spurger.
Walker and Joubert Hard to choose between Joubert and Sutherland Unless I missed somthing the player from Silsbee should be able to regain eligibility in three weeks
Hill will be back for the last two district games, HF @ Silsbee, HJ @ HJ and then the playoffs. Pheal will miss @ HF, HJ @ Silsbee, WOS @ Silsbee, BC @ Silsbee and @ Orangefield along with already missing last Friday night's game at home against Orangefield which was a Tiger victory. -
Hj gets lucky again. I just got bad news that star point guard Phil Hill is inegible for the Tigers. D.C is already out. He's struggling to get his ankles healthy. Seems like Hj should get the win with Silsbee best 2 players out. But u never know, that's why they play the game
You are way late and not too accurate with this post. I posted before the game last night that Pheal (not Phil) Hill would be out for 6 games due to grades. This was discussed after the game as well last night on the game thread. Here's the thread: [Hidden Content] BTW, Pheal is not Silsbee's point guard, D.C. is. ;) Also, D.C. isn't out. He has played the last 3 games for Silsbee against WOS, BC and Orangefield. D.C. had 7 points and 11 rebounds last night playing just about the entire game. Swag, you may know about Kountze hoops, but you lack in knowledge elsewhere. -
yup. James showed up when it was too late to matter. the horns have a ton of talent, but they need to do some regrouping. neither of their losses were bad losses, but they were both to teams they should've beaten.
100% agree. -

I think it's time for me to post. ;D -
Good question Bobcat05. But, what Yates is doing is statewide news because of not how good this team is, but how important it is for them to show everyone, leaving out class and respect along the way.
Heard a rumor that WOS kicked off two kids and some more failed. Any truth to it?
I was told about the kids getting kicked off the team, don't know anything about any player failing. -

Bullets13, thanks for that assessment. I figured that was how the game went down. That's a great difference than what the Yates team is doing. Bluedove is clueless.
Someone texted me and said Orangefield got hosed big time on calls....true?
Not true. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Silsbee shot 16 free throws, Orangefield shot 15. Silsbee had 16 team fouls, Orangefield had 17. Silsbee had the only player to foul out, post Kendrick Jones.

According to what Bullets posted, HJ could have beaten HF by a "Yates" score. Looks as though they called the dogs off somewhat. If HJ played in the manner of how Yates is playing, then I say they were wrong in running up the score. But from what I gather, they did not do that. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Balanced Mustangs run past Cardinals Van Wade The Orange Leader WEST ORANGE — Attacking Bridge City with wave after wave, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs ran past the Cardinals 78-60 in District 21-3A action at Mustang Gym Friday night. The Mustangs (16-7, 2-1) placed three players in double figures, one player with nine points, two with eight points, one with seven and one with six as their depth simply wore down the Cardinals (10-15, 0-3). Post Darius Davis powered the WO-S arsenal as the big fella pumped in 16 points while also yanking down eight boards. Guard Kendrick Budwine set the tone early and finished with 13 points and five rebounds and connected on three three-point shots. Guard D’Andrus Brooks-Gentry contributed 11 points and five boards. Robert Redd gave the Mustangs nine points and seven rebounds. JaKeenen Cotton poured in eight points and snared eight rebounds. Justin Francis popped for eight points while Anthony Noble had seven points and eight boards and Devon Villery added six points. Nate McAnelly led the Cardinal attack, scoring 20 points while yanking down eight rebounds. McAnelly had his stroke working from the outside as he sank five three-point missiles, four of them coming in the first half. Scrappy Cardinal point guard Zach Heinze contributed 15 points and hit three three-pointers. Bridge City’s leading scorer on the season Tanner Girouard, who was saddled with foul trouble and eventually fouled out, tallied 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Cardinal post Tanner Hogan finished with eight points, all coming in the fourth period, and six rebounds while Johnathan Peterson added seven rebounds. The game was tight early as the teams finished the first quarter deadlocked at 16-16. Heinze had eight points for the Cardinals and hit two three-pointers while McAnelly had five points. Budwine ripped two three-pointers for the Mustangs in the period while Davis and Cotton had two baskets apiece. The Mustangs pulled away with a 26-14 jaunt in the second quarter as they forced Bridge City into seven turnovers in the period and outrebounded them 18-5. Francis scored all eight of his points in the period, burying two three-pointers in the process. Budwine had five points in the quarter while Redd and Brooks-Gentry added four points apiece. McAnelly tried to keep the Cardinals close by sinking three treys in the quarter. WO-S extended its lead to 61-43 heading to the fourth. Davis bruised his way inside for six third-quarter points while Brooks-Gentry had five. Heinze had six points for the Cardinals. Both squads scored 17 points apiece in the fourth. Hogan had eight of the Cardinals’ points in the quarter while Davis had six for the Mustangs. Overall, the teams combined for 13 three-pointers. The Mustangs controlled the glass throughout, outrebounding the Cardinals 46-33. Bridge City finished with 23 turnovers while the Mustangs committed 15. The Mustangs went just 2-of-10 from the free-throw line while the Cardinals went 12-of-18. The Mustangs face a stern 21-3A road test Tuesday at fourth-ranked Hardin-Jefferson while the Cardinals venture to Orange County rival Orangefield
