We do not shoot the ball well, although Fairfield plays great defense. We have average height. We start a 6'6 post man then the rest or 6'2  and less. Most of our scores are in the low 50s we play slow down ball. Good luck to both teams.
You guys won't be terribly impressed with our size, that's for sure. Are there any teams in your area that press full court the whole game? BTW, one of the things that amaze me about the Hawks is the way they can press even if they miss the shot!!
If this report is any where close to accurate, welcome to the finals HAWKS
I smell bait.  Somebody trying to encourage the Hawks to regard Fairfield like some have regarded the Hawks
Fairfield has two 6'6" guys....One is beast and can create shots, the other is a rebounder and scores most of his points on putbacks.....their point guard was first team all district last year, can light it up from outside and can take it to the hole...also #12 can knock down the three....they are big and athletic and like to control tempo. Should be a good game.
No-look, I am not familiar with this particular Fairfield team that you speak of. This year's Fairfield team is nothing of what you have described.
 2. HJ will force Fairfield into an up tempo game and win by 20. Thanks for the assessment of Fairfield, Eagle Eyes. (oldie here and a newbie there ;))
 3.
You can't compare scores from games in November and mid December  ??? I understand hudson was playing basketball the entire year at that point but this is the regional tournament, these teams didn't make it here just because of luck. i do think silsbee will win but don't count a team out this deep in playoffs
Trust me, Silsbee has learned it's lesson from last year. ;)
 4. Harrison and one of the Watts kids is going to SFA for football.

Sophomore year at Evadale, junior year at East Chambers, and now next year, his senior year, at Hardin-Jefferson. Who does he think he is, Troy House? I will be very surprised to see him at HJ.

The Tigers are looking to make it 4 regional final appearances in 6 years. ;) ;D
Well yall have a fan base just north of you thats backing your team and wants to see that 4th appearances ;)
And Spurger has the Tiger backing as well.

 9. utfan06, that's your first comment on this game? C'mon. ::)
 10.
I'm terrible without spell check but as long as Skipper is a poster I feel safe.
LMAO!!!!!!!! good one admin.
 11. Anahuac, nobody was looking at you guys this year at making the regional tourney as all eyes were on Kountze this year. Now the Panthers are in the regionals repping 23-2A. Congrats Coach West and the Panther players and make us proud at regionals. I will say that I expected the Spurger Pirates to be right where they are, in the regional tourney. Coach Issacs and his Pirate team have played well all season long while dealing with the injury bug practically all season long. Now with Spurger almost completely healthy, you got to like their chances of making it to the state tourney. Congrats Spurger on your season so far and let's keep it rolling!
 12. Congrats to these two fine teams for making it 4 straight years to the regional tourney. Now let's get those wins Friday night and guarentee another 21-3A team to the state tourney for the 5th consecutive year!!!
 13.
Good luck to our same suspects at Regionals.  Quiet an accomplishment to make it every year.  I will be first to say I am not surprised to see Silsbee here.  They are loaded.  HJ showed their grit all year long and are a complete team and very much deserve the shot at representing region III at Austin.  Good luck to you both.
Classy post.
 14.
Watching the Kountze game and I just heard Coop say New Waverly is better than the Tigers...............even though we beat them without a couple of key players.
Yea I heard him say that too. ;D Silsbee beat New Waverly without Pheal Hill and Xavior Harris.
 15. Tigers take down stubborn Mustangs, 59-49 Van Wade The Orange Leader PORT ARTHUR — The energetic, never-say-die West Orange-Stark Mustangs led after the first three quarters against District 21-3A rival Silsbee in the Class 3A Region III quarterfinals. However, the Tigers won the quarter that counted the most. Silsbee, trailing 40-38 entering the fourth period, outscored the Mustangs by a 21-9 margin in the game’s final eight minutes as the Tigers walked away with a 59-49 victory at Titans Gym at Memorial High School Tuesday night. Darius Stallworth was the biggest thorn in the Mustangs’ side as the Tiger forward scored 10 of his game-high 16 points in the second half while pulling down 10 of his game-high 15 rebounds after intermission. The Tigers now advance to the 3A Region III Tournament, which will be held at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Friday and Saturday. Joining them will be 21-3A runnerup Hardin-Jefferson, which throttled Cleveland 82-66 Tuesday. The third time just wasn’t quite the charm for the Mustangs against the Tigers. Silsbee, the 21-3A champion, defeated the Mustangs 81-59 and 55-44 in 21-3A action this season. However, the Tigers almost had more than they bargained for for nearly three and a half quarters at Memorial High School. Coach Donald Newton’s Mustangs (21-11) battled hard against the favored Tigers (28-4) throughout, especially with tough inside defensive play, led by JaKeenen Cotton, who had a big double-double, scoring 13 points while yanking down 13 rebounds. Silsbee scored 12 of the first 14 points in the final period. Guard Pheal Hill’s three-point play gave the Tigers the lead the rest of the way at 42-40. Hill finished with 15 points and six rebounds. The Mustangs had no answer for Stallworth down the stretch as he bruised his way inside for eight points and six rebounds in the decisive fourth period. Hill had eight points in the quarter and Prentice Lane, who finished with 13 points and eight boards, had four points in the period. The Tigers outrebounded the Mustangs 13-6 in the final period and committed just one turnover while the Mustangs had five. The Tigers, who have struggled from the line in recent games, hit 7-of-10 free throws in the fourth while the Mustangs were just 4-of-10. Silsbee went 21-of-33 from the charity stripe for the game while WO-S was 14-of-23. The Mustangs finished with 19 turnovers while the Tigers committed 14. D’Andrus Brooks-Gentry had 11 points for the Mustangs and he hit two three-pointers. Anthony Noble had 10 points and five rebounds. Silsbee held Mustang guard Kendrick Budwine and post Darius Davis in check throughout. Budwine, an excellent three-point shooter, was held to one point while Davis had six points and one rebound. The Mustangs led 9-8 at the end of the first period with Cotton leading the way with two buckets on nice drives in the paint. WO-S led 25-23 at the half as Noble and Brooks-Gentry had five points apiece with both of them having a three-pointer apiece. Lane and Hill had five points apiece for the Tigers in the quarter. The Mustangs kept their two-point lead at the end of the third. Cotton zipped inside for five points in the period while Noble had four and Davis was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. Stallworth and Lane kept the Tigers in it by combining for nine points in the quarter.
I see match up problems for Hudson in this one. Hudson dont have any bigs.
I agree. Silsbee will have a definite advantage.

Last Thursday, Silsbee missed 22 free throws, tonight the Tigers make 22 free throws. Silsbee was 15/18 in the 2nd half. This was a back and forth game thru the first 3 quarters as both teams only led by as much as 5 points. But the 4th quarter belonged to Silsbee and D.C. Stallworth. Stallworth scored 13 of his 16 in the second half with 8 of those coming in the 4th. Silsbee made some great adjustments going into the 4th by moving Stallworth down on the baseline and letting him get inside for some scoring. Defensively they put a little more pressure in the full court, getting some steals and forcing some turnovers. In the end, the Tigers were too much down the stretch for the Mustangs. Silsbee now makes their 5th appearance in the regionals in the last 6 years, with this being their 4th straight.

HJ by five.....
They destroyed a team like Madisonville and still look beatable?
Yeah.....
Gotta love it, no-look. ;D
 21. This is the Hawks fourth straight regional, same as Silsbee. ;)
