1.
How would that explain Jimmy Smith ahead of Larry Johnson & Ostertag
The same explanation as O'Neal gets. He only played 1 year of Texas high school basketball. I cannot explain Smith, I was just defending Dexler since you claimed he wasn't deserving because of his high school career.
2. These teams are not just based on what a player did in his high school days. Drexler may not have had as good a high school career as some of these others, but his college and pro years trump most of these players.
3. Walker getting the MVP is very well deserved.
4.
is this the hamburger depot on hwy 69 besides the shell station?
No. We used to do the show from there. Now we are at their new location on Neches St. in downtown Beaumont.
Health
According to the article that Bob West wrote, health wasn't the issue at all. Here is part of that article: Sad to say, there won’t be any James Gamble Awards this season. The Lincoln coaching legend, though forever grateful to Ray Depwe and so many others who saluted the area’s top schoolboy players in his name, had a difference of opinion on how certain matters were handled  and wrote a letter to Depwe saying he was withdrawing any personal affiliation. The good news is that the area’s top players will again be recognized at what will be known as the Southeast Texas Basketball Awards. The banquet to recognize Southeast Texas’ best is set for April 17 at the Holiday Inn on Jimmy Johnson Blvd

10. [Hidden Content] Very disappointed that Silsbee's D.C. Stallworth did not make all tourney. D.C. had 24 points and 13 rebounds and played his butt off, he should have made it.
11. I believe A&M wins the first two over Utah St. and Purdue. The Ags will then face Duke in the Sweet Sixteen at Reliant Stadium. There will be a bunch of Aggies at that game!!! You never know.
12. Jacob Felts is hands down not only the best catcher in the area, but the best overall player.
13. Hopefully my Aggies win their first two games so that I can watch them in person at Reliant Stadium in the South Regional!!! WHOOOOOOOOP!!!
14. Now that basketball season is over, SETXsports will be broadcasting Silsbee Tiger baseball thru the remainder of the season. Idalou was unranked....
I can't speak for Chad, but this is an upset in my book. I spoke to Coach Goffney yesterday morning and he was concerned with Idalou. He said they shoot the ball very well.
16. Guys, I am still collecting my thoughts on the game while taking in the rest of the tourney this week. When I get time, I will post stats and a game summary. Right now, I will enjoy the rest of the tourney. I will say this though, it's the consensus of the vast majority of the folks that watched this game( Silsbee fans, Madison fans, other coaches, UIL officials, media, and just the regular fan) that this game was the state championship game. After watching the Estecado and Stafford game, it was pretty evident to everyone there, who the top two teams were, Madison and Silsbee. I even had several of the Frank Erwin Center staff stop me and say that the Silsbee/Madison game should have been the state title game. Tough luck.
