Unfortunately for you what goes down does not have to come up!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!
Hey, it will be nice to have a district where there are at least 3 or 4 very competitive teams. Makes your district APPEAR stronger, especially since most of the teams in this district play in weak tournaments & a soft district.
21-3A's third place team WOS made it to the regional quarterfinals before ending their season to the eventual regional champs Silsbee. BTW, the runner up, HJ, made it to the regional finals losing to Silsbee. With 21-3A sending a team to the state tourney for 5 straight years I believe gives the appearance of a tough district. Only one team has been the cellar dwellar every year in this district.

State Tourney All Tournament Teams
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
To lose in the first round, and make the state championship all tourney team, a player has to play lights out and put up some eye popping numbers. The first thing they (the selectors) are going to say is: if he is so good, why didn't his team make it past the opening round game?
If you would bother to look at the list of all the all-tourney teams, you would see players that made it that lost in the semis that did not have as good of numbers as Stallworth had. ::) It was a glaring omission. -
I too also believe that Avory getting defensive POY is dead on. He ended the season with 200 block shots, school record.

Good picks. Only change I would make is having HJ's Shawn Prudhomme the Newcomer of the Year. Congrats to all these players and particularly to D.C. Stallworth, an MVP that's well deserved.

I don't think anyone is trying to put Spurger on a pedestool here. They are just acknowledging the fact of how they held themselves at the tourney. Nobody is saying it is out of the ordinary and is extra special, just commending the Spurger team for their actions. Nothing wrong with that. RP3, you seem to want to spin negative remarks on anyone's postive thoughts about our local teams. You seem to be a bitter person, why is that?

The UIL's All-Century Team for boys basketball
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
How would that explain Jimmy Smith ahead of Larry Johnson & Ostertag
The same explanation as O'Neal gets. He only played 1 year of Texas high school basketball. I cannot explain Smith, I was just defending Dexler since you claimed he wasn't deserving because of his high school career. -
The UIL's All-Century Team for boys basketball

These teams are not just based on what a player did in his high school days. Drexler may not have had as good a high school career as some of these others, but his college and pro years trump most of these players. -

Walker getting the MVP is very well deserved. -
Health
According to the article that Bob West wrote, health wasn't the issue at all. Here is part of that article: Sad to say, there won’t be any James Gamble Awards this season. The Lincoln coaching legend, though forever grateful to Ray Depwe and so many others who saluted the area’s top schoolboy players in his name, had a difference of opinion on how certain matters were handled and wrote a letter to Depwe saying he was withdrawing any personal affiliation. The good news is that the area’s top players will again be recognized at what will be known as the Southeast Texas Basketball Awards. The banquet to recognize Southeast Texas’ best is set for April 17 at the Holiday Inn on Jimmy Johnson Blvd -
