• 2 SILSBEE SENIORS WILL COMMIT WEDNESDAY Silsbee seniors Jarrian Rhone and Kelson McDaniel will make their college commitments official Wednesday on National Signing Day. Rhone, a first-team All-District 21-3A defensive back and running back, will play slot receiver at West Texas A&M University, a Division II college in Amarillo. Rhone rushed for 649 yards and had 715 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. Rhone moved to running back after playing receiver his junior season. Rhone had 138 yards receiving as a junior. Kelson McDaniel, a first-team All-District selection at quarterback, will play receiver or defensive back at Abilene Christian University, a Division II school. McDaniel threw for 2,502 yards and 25 touchdowns this season and rushed for 566 yards. McDaniel had 470 yards receiving as a junior. KTXS News in Abilene reported the school is considering a switch to the Div. I Football Championship Subdivision.

All I know is after the HJ game, they were able to field a JV squad (just 6 players). They have played the last 4 games. Could have had some injuries or other situations. I know that Ashly Johnson will not be playing in the varsity game, which would leave them with just 6 varsity players. They may have combined.

How about discuss how Coach Able and PNG played that last minute of the Nederland game? ;)

Local teams in polls this week: 4A  #19 Nederland 3A  #3 Cleveland     #7 Silsbee     #9 Hardin-Jefferson     #21 Coldspring 2A  #19 East Chambers      #20 Kountze 1A DI  #23 West Sabine Coldspring and East Chambers enters poll for first time this season. Leggett drops out of poll. In Class 3A, Region III has 4 teams in top 10, Cleveland, Silsbee, HJ and Mexia, 5 in top 15 (LaVega) and 7 total in top 25. 3 local districts have 2 teams in top 25. 21-3A (Silsbee and HJ) 22-3A (Cleveland and Coldspring) 24-2A (East Chambers and Kountze)
