1.
How come these local teams trying to justify their local teams hung in there with with the once mighty JY? Yall lost- Ozen lost by three-still a lost.
I really do not see anyone disputing the loss. Me personally, Yates is the better team, no doubt. But they are not the 800lb gorilla that "some in the know" are trying to make them out to be. According to the "some" Silsbee and the likes shouldn't be able to stay on the same court as Yates. Even though it was a loss, JY fans admit this was in doubt till the very end.
 2. Dove, with that  ;), are you agreeing with Ozensfinest that Coach Saveat needs to go and it is his fault that the young Panthers lost last night? If so, that would sound pretty familiar to some HF stuff back in the day. ;)
 3.
AAW, I apologize, did not know you being 28 was a sensitive subject!  8)
See, again, your facts are wrong (not surprised, that seems to be regular now days). I am 48, will be 49 in April. ;) 8)
 4. No one is dodging anything (except maybe you in regards to my bet). ;) You stated that no Hardin County team would make regionals next year and I disputed that with scenarios that would put a Hardin County team at the regional tourney. You tried to throw something at me about my age and not remembering who Yates had returning yet that fact doesn't matter to Kountze being they do not play Yates and Silsbee or HJ in the fact that if one of those teams happen to finish 2nd in 21-3A, they would not face Yates till regional finals. You stuck your foot in your mouth again, and now wish to crawfish out of it.
 5.

I think 21-3A runner up will have a great shot of making regional tourney next year. C'mon DV, put your money where that big mouth is. ;) ;D
Maybe in your old age, you have forgotten that Yates returns Swift AND JC Washington next year along with the PG JoJo Anderson....It will be much of the same next year in region 3-3A... 8)
You do realize that 21-3A runner up would not see Swift, Washington, Anderson and the rest of Yates team till Regional finals. That means the runner up would make regional tourney. That is what we are discussing, Hardin County team making regionals. Should you even be coaching with that ineptness? ;)
I do not see anyone acting surprise. Only people that should be "surprised" is the the few "knowledgeable" ones who were calling for a 30-40 point win by Yates. ;) ::)
15, 20, 30....Its all being handled by double digits...easily... 8)
You yourself stated that if Silsbee tried to run with Yates they would lose by 40. ::) Well, Silsbee ran with Yates all night. In fact, it was Yates who finally slowed the game down late 3rd and in the 4th to protect the lead. I think this was a great decision by Coach Wise. It had Silsbee spread out and took time off the clock to limit a comeback and also took advantage of isolating their big men inside. You can speak with any JY fan, they will tell you there was nothing handled "easily" in that game last night. Tight game throughout.

 8. Silsbee has been a poor free throw shooting team all year long. It was a night where they needed to shoot around 67-70% instead of their usual 50%. Several of those point blank misses had nothing to do with Yates, just lack of execution. Yates did block several shots though and altered others. The 1/20 three pointers really ballooned in the last 2 minutes of game when Silsbee started "jacking" three's trying to make the comeback. It resulted in some long rebounds and "snowbird" layups for Yates.
DV just doing his job, raining on another parade. ;) ::)

Didn't think you missed a Tiger ballgame.....
I didn't. I broadcast the Silsbee/Yates game last night and on the way home from Huntsville I saw the ball park lights still on in Livingston so I stopped by and as I was walking in the gate I saw the last out of the game. ;) :D

 17.

I know no team has their own refs just said that out of frustration Yates shot the ball better than silsbee from the 3 point line , the foul line , and inside the paint , I'm just glad our team showed a lot of heart out there  Yates has one of the best programs in the country and I just hope our tigers earned a some respect against a top notch opponent  we need to continue to play more teams like Yates to get even better in the future. Thanks tigers for an awesome season , thanks Yates for respecting our fans and team hope u guys win it all.
We really do appreciate it.  Without question The TIGERS have earned more respect than what they came into this game with.  We as a team has and have nothing but respect for what they have and were able to accomplish.  I think student athletes often speak prematurely.  Often from cockiness, and sometimes just out of being immature, as kids often do.  More often than not,  it's that player(s) that contributes the least that does the most trash talk.  We try to teach our boys to talk less and let your play speak for you.  This is where we as adults, parents and coaches alike have to teach them the difference.  They have to understand you don't go deep with hopes that the other team will fear your name or reputation.  This team we have now is going through the task of making a name for themselves and getting out of the shadow of our 08-10 team who won the championships.  They are often compared to them and people, even our fans expect them to bust it wide open and leave no doubt, but that was a SPECIAL team we had then.  So we're constantly trying to improve with each game.  Having played sports, I know we all know that gut feeling you have before tip-off, kick-off, or that opening pitch.  I may be wrong, but we have to constantly remind the kids that for the most part everyone wants to win and if they show up, they will play you that way.  I'm proud of both teams for how they conducted themselves before, during, and after the game.  The Tigers have no reason to hang their heads, or beat themselves up.  We ALL know the feelings after a game like last night,  we too, have been there.  There was so much talk about it was going to get out of hand and scuffles on the court and the fans going at it and there was nothing of the sort.  Both teams shook hands like young men and student athletes and appear to have left it on the court.  To say our bases were simply divided by 2 pieces of cheap tape, they too conducted themselves in such a manner that was far from what some were expecting.  We may not always agree on certain things, but no one can ever say that Alumni and fans for both of these teams doesn't care or have passion for their team.  It was live last night One thing is for certain, TEXAS is no longer just a football state, basketball is here and it seems to be here to stay.  The LIONS and TIGERS will have a seat at the table!!  Stay hungry and stay focused!!
EXCELLENT POST!!! Kudos to you my JY friend!
 18. 2003 was the last time a Hardin County team did not make it to a regional tourney.

 22. It's kind of funny, a part of me wants my Silsbee Tigers to have another shot at the Lions, but the other part says "thanks, but no thanks". ;) ;D
 23. From a statistical standpoint: Silsbee missing 17 free throws, 19 three pointers, and 28 shots in the paint, was the difference in the ball game.

The refs called so many touch fouls against JY it was ridiculous. We did not play well either, commiting a lot of turn overs. Silsbee forced a lot of them as well. They played well and the help from the refs didn't hurt either. 5 on 8 all night. Silsbee is a scrappy bunch.
I would not the game tonight even, only if you're a Silsbee fan. Silsbee had a ton of calls go there way. The only reason why we didn't have anyone foul out was that Coach Wise put in players early in the 2nd quarter that usually get off the bench until the game is almost over. He used his bench well and they were deep enough to save the guys in foul trouble from fouling out. How many players touched the floor for Silsbee and played significant minutes compared to JY? Coach Wise used his players "wisely". That's kind of funny. Silsbee had 27 fouls to JY 20 and Silsbee had 2 players foul out with 3 others with 4 fouls. JY had no player foul out and had just 2 with 4 fouls. I thought the game was called evenly.

Silsbee played a total of 10 players, Yates played a total of 12.
 25. The stat you wanted to see Buddy Garrity: per SHSU statistician Yates missed 16 shots in the paint Silsbee missed 28 shots in the paint
