One thing that impresses me with this team than the previous two is how well BU has been on the defensive end this year! I thought the past two years that side of the ball was very hard to watch a lot of times, however it seems they’ve flipped a switch this year.

Lamar is all about making money.  If that’s the case, they really should make this a doubleheader.  Plenty of seating for all fans.  Now the parking situation is bad but at lease everyone will be able to grab a seat.

Truth be told, Ford Arena should’ve been an option…

If BU does pull off this 3 peat do they go down as the greatest team/run in SETX history?

Steve Kerr's comments about AAU Basketball. “Even if today’s players are incredibly gifted, they grow up in a basketball environment that can only be called counterproductive. AAU basketball has replaced high school ball as the dominant form of development in the teen years. I coached my son’s AAU team for three years; it’s a genuinely weird subculture. Like everywhere else, you have good coaches and bad coaches, or strong programs and weak ones, but what troubled me was how much winning is devalued in the AAU structure. Teams play game after game after game, sometimes winning or losing four times in one day. Very rarely do teams ever hold a practice. Some programs fly in top players from out of state for a single weekend to join their team. Certain players play for one team in the morning and another one in the afternoon. If mom and dad aren’t happy with their son’s playing time, they switch club teams and stick him on a different one the following week. The process of growing as a team basketball player — learning how to become part of a whole, how to fit into something bigger than oneself — becomes completely lost within the AAU fabric.”

By the way, for all who are anti-"everyone gets a ribbon" (i.e., the all district teams now), this is the team for you.  It has been, and continues to be, the elite list to make in Southeast Texas.  5 on first team, 5 on second team.  And way more often than not, Matt Faye and crew nail it.

It was fun covering them as always. During the regular season we had BU vs West Brook (x2), Atascocita, La Grange (LA), Silsbee (x2), CE King. Nederland, Barbers Hill and Crosby
Playoffs: Weiss, Crosby (TexanLive), Dallas Kimball, Timberview
We we’re assigned to election coverage the night of the GCM game and Mardi Gras coverage the night of the Hightower game. Only reason we missed those.

Some folks have known but I will make it public. My time as a full time administrator/broadcaster is up. I told my wife of 33 years that when she retired from teaching that I would retire with her to the beach. She retired last May and I told her I would finish out the football and basketball seasons of this year then I would join her. (would have joined her in May but needed to stay on after the passing of our beloved admin WOSGrad). I am so ready to be a beach bum.
I have enjoyed these past 17 years here on the site. I have seen it grow from just a little message board to now be considered a valuable media outlet. It truly has been a labor of love.
First of all, I want to thank Jordan Wilson, the owner of this site, by inviting me on as a staff member and eventually an administrator. He trusted me with the help of running this site and allowed me to "do my thang" and start my broadcast career. It has truly been a blessing. Thanks
I want to thank Todd Broussard (WOSGrad) who is looking down on us from heaven. He has been my partner in crime for all these years and is the reason this site is what it is today. He was the man!! I dearly miss my old friend and I hope that he is up there saying "job well done my friend". Thanks Todd for everything you did for me and this site.
I want to thank all the staff members here. Particularly Lucas, Mack, Robert, Terry, Matthew and all of the other staff. You have helped make this the place to be as for Southeast Texas sports.  Thanks for all the support over the years.
Thanks to all the coaches that I have come to know and work with all these years. Thank you for your support and cooperation and your acceptance of me and SETXsports. I am truly grateful.
Thanks to all the members here who really are what makes this site so great. I have become friends with several here and I cherish all the times we have spent on and off this site. God Bless all of you.
I wish all and this site the very best. I will still be around some but it will be mostly from my chair on the beach with my toes in the sand holding a cold one.
Thanks again to everyone and May God Bless.

I’ve literally just gained tons of gray hair!  Woooooo!  I was nervous, but I’m so glad we had some good contributions from some unlikely sources late in the game.  Namely the sophomore Payia.  Great defensive game plan to deny Morris the ball late in the game.  I’m just glad we were able to grit it out!  Yes indeed!
But how often do we see Arceneaux miss dunks and Yates miss this many shots?  Even with a terrible game from our top guys, we found a way to win!  Hats off to these kids.  These home grown kids.  No transfers, straight neighbor kids.  Now, one more!  On to Saturday!
