    Not exactly, but 2A in the late 70’s early 80’s. 3A late 80’s the 4A early 2000’s then 5A 2010 ish.

Shoot I remember back in the mid 90s kids that couldn't make it at 5A Baytown Sterling would transfer to BH to be able to play. One ended up being all-state in 3A I think in football and baseball but couldnt crack the lineup at Sterling. My have things changed.  This was during the 5A district that had Lee, North Shore, Sterling, Central, West Brook, PAJ, PNG.

I agree with what you’re saying about choosing the 1st team and then picking the superlatives from that. The thing is they wouldn’t get the superlatives they did if they did that. Everyone who watched this district knows exactly who the best at each of those positions were this season. Probably going to ruffle some feathers but it’s the truth.
Give MVP and coach of the year to the top team. The rest should be based on actual individual performances not their team’s record. Then this all looks a lot different is all I’m saying.

Ok so it was done your way,  what does your team look like?  Do you not think the RS for BH deserved to get a superlative whether it be newcomer or offensive?  If it was based on team records I don't think that would be the case.

BH falls in the Regional Finals to Fulshear 3-0. Fulshear has an incredible team good luck to them at State. BH had a phenomenal season great job ladies!

Elite 8 out of 128 that started in the playoffs is really good and BH had the toughest road to get there as well.

Yesterday BH had its chances, had leads of 24-22 in set 2 and 19-14 in set 3. Every point matters.  Have to wonder how much the quick turnaround from Friday to Sat game impacted the game.

BH fans certainly did just that. Its was a fun night. BH won pretty easily in game one, then FW dug in and played very hard, pushing  game 2 to extra points before BH closed it out. In game 3 FW led mid game but BH rallied and pulled away at the end. Great fan support for BH. Great effort by both teams. FW repped themselves very well.

That they did, that was a great environment. Packed house, football boys and student section showed up, a lot of the community outside of the normal VB group which was awesome. Couldnt ask for a better environment or host.

The turning point in that game was BH holding on to set 2, lost that and its a different ballgame. That was huge to go from up 24-22 to down 24-25 to winning 27-25.

  5. BH QB needs to run more. 3rd and 2 late in the game and he could have easily scrambled for 2 instead of throwing two incomplete passes.  I don't know if he has been told not to run but he needs to show it to either get those easy yards or to open up throwing lanes.  I did not see the RB come back in after the fumble either, was he hurt on that play?

I mean up 21 against a slow time consuming offense the absolute worst thing you can do is give up big play quick scores. The two long runs on btb plays was mind blowing. With that said, if offense punches it in from inside the 5 the game is over at 28-14.  A fail on both sides of the ball.

And I thought our kicker was decent, not even a thought of taking the points?

BH had to work last night. Of course I love seeing 25-10 type scores, but its good BH had to work some. The district was way too easy. Work sharpens them up for the next round and on. No easy opponents ahead. Go Eagles!

Foster is a really good team, that should not have been a 2nd round matchup while FW and Manvel had cakewalks the the first two rounds. The regions really need to seed the tournament vs this predetermined district matchup crap they do now which is just easy on UIL.

The good news is the Eagles played well and put it way in 4 after being up 2-0. As others have said, that experience should bode well in tight situations.  BH has beaten Friendswood back in August so they know they can do it again.  It is time to break through the 3rd round barrier for this group. In the last two weeks, wins over Clear Springs who is also in the regional 6A qtrs and that Foster team were great tests.

  7. 5A Bi-District Volleyball Playoffs: Friendswood vs. Baytown Sterling - Monday October 30th @ 6:30pm at Dobie High School

5A Bi-District Volleyball Playoffs: Manvel vs. Goose Creek Memorial - Monday October 30th @ 6:30pm at Sam Rayburn High School

5A Bi-District Volleyball Playoffs: Santa Fe vs. Nederland - Tuesday October 31st @ 7:30pm at C.E. King High School

  8. Undefeated 17-5A Champ Barbers Hill  vs 24-6A undefeated champ Clear Springs

    BH wins 3-1

    20-25 25-22 25-23 25-17

BH has beaten 7 District Champions 6 of which went undefeated in their district

6As Deer Park, Bellaire , Atascocita, Clear Springs

    5A Friendswood

    4A Huffman

6A Pearland had one loss and were Co-District Champs

BH losses are to #1 6A Grand Oaks, defending 6A champ Dripping Springs, #5 6A District Champ Lake Travis, and 3 private school powers. Arguably the worst lost is to district runner up 6A Vandegrift in Austin.

    GCM beat Sterling 3-1.

  9.  Final Standings arent updated but assume GCM beat Lee to finish in a tie with Sterling.

Great coaching recognizes the talent their players may or may not have then adjust their system around those players to put them in the best position to win

This, you have to have talent, its not strictly Xs and Os.  I have seen coaches destroy talent by running the wrong system. IE had spread personnel but brought in the triple option because that's what he likes.

A good coach looks at what he has, uses the best system to utilize that talent and then it comes down to how does he relate to them, how does he motivate them, how does he adjust when they study your film and take away what you want to do. A lot of the deeper rounds of playoffs comes down to who can adjust the best when your game plan gets thrown out the window.
