1. OK, granted...some of the district selections are "large".  ;D    Most of the posters in this section have fairly close ties to their school's program...probably a daughter (or sister) involved at some point now or recently.  You all know that the Head coaches are the only ones involved in the selection process.  If this is TRUELY a monumental issue for you, why not just go to the source (your source) and ask why instead of repeating the same thing over and over?
 2. 20-4A's coaches meeting was last night.  Results should be released shortly.  ;D
 3.
Well, The next tournament is only a "CROW-HOP" down the road. See you there!!!!
Ouch!
 4.
East Chambers 53 LCM 50  8)
Nice warm up game at EC. LCM lead by as many as 15 and then had some events late in the 4th that lead to some unraveling.  EC is a quality, well coached team.  The fans at EC were great and that gym is fantastic!  By far the nicest HS gym around.  I know EC is very proud of that facility.
 5.
Does anyone knw the score from the LCM-Vidor game last night?  If LCM won, they locked up 4th. If Vidor won, I think it throws a 4 way tie into play. (Lumberton beat PNG)
From KOGT: Tuesday: The LCM Lady Bears clinched a playoff spot with a 54-47 win over a tough Vidor team. Tiffani Thompson led all scorers with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Kalyn Harkness added 12 points, 4 steals, and 4 assists. Elissa Tate added 10 for the Lady Bears. Leading scorer for the Pirates was Smith with 11. The Lady Bears will face East Chambers in a warm-up game at home Friday.

 9.
Central - one loss to Livingston Livingston- one loss to Central and one to Ozen Ozen - one loss to Livingston one to Central is this right? I know Central is going to beat Ozen again...so would you say that's the top 3?
No question the top 3.  I also agree with you that Ozen will not beat Central.  Central has been playing their best ball the second half of district and IMO is the districts best and deepest.  Livingston is strong, but I am convinced that by the latter part of the district race, the travel time Livingston puts in to get to district games each weeks takes a toll. Games left for the top 3 are: Central                       Ozen                 Livingston @ Nederland             Lumberton               @LCM @Ozen                      Central                 Nederland
 10.
I need: 21-5A, 2nd and 3rd 194A, all of 20-4A, 18-3A, 22 & 24-3A, I think 20-4A 1. Central 2. Livingston 3. Ozen 4. ??
Bobcat...I know you asked for 100% certain, but you left the door open with the 4. ? I'm pretty sure I'm correct in this scenerio for the final 20-4A spot...LCM is in with 1 win in either of their last 2 games regardless of any other help. (Livingston @ home and Vidor away) or is still in with 2 losses if PNG loses 1 of their final two games. (Vidor @ home and Lumberton away).  PNG could force a "play-in" if LCM loses 2 and PNG wins 2.
 11.
It's very difficult for a new coach to come to a new school and have immediate success. Add to that, injuries to starters and it becomes even harder. What I do know, is this. Coach Gholson has been coming to the Jr High practices and relaying to the coaches at that level the kind of things that he wants them to work on. I was pleased to see that. Lumberton parents have had great expectations as most parents do. A recent trip to the State Tournament makes those expectations grow. I hope we can have patience enough to give this coach a chance. It is easier for me to say this with my girls being in Jr high. I feel for the seniors and all of the girls that are trying very hard to turn things around in L-town. Keep your chin up girls and keep trying hard!
Listen to the coach and play hard...simple enough. I got a chance to see the Lumberton Jr high play @ LC last night.  Who is the LJH point guard #10?  I was very impressed with her play.

Tiffani Thompson led all scorers with 22 points. Shelby Apperson contributed another solid performance, chipping in 11 points to go along with 14 rebounds and 7 steals. 2-guard Shelby Tucker had a solid game as well applying constant pressure to Lumberton's guards forcing many Raider turnovers.   Lumberton had a fairly large crown in their gym, but the crowd never had a chance to get involved and were silenced from the beginning when the Bears jumped out early to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. The Lady Bears will take on Ozen Friday night at home.
Dang, that's two big games from that Thompson girl in a row.   Might need to do some scouting!   ;) Any feelings on the standings/playoff picture?  Looks pretty mixed up right now for 20-4A
;D "Might need to do some scouting?"  ;D  You are ALWAYS scouting in one sport or another!  ;)  Thanks, she has been very consistent through district and especially the last 5 games.  LCM just doesn't have their scores posted very often.  (got any comments on that Bobcat?  ;D)  I have some strong feeling on how I think the playoff picture in 20-4A will shake out, but I better back that up with standings.  I'll try to get the 20-4A standings set up for you and Bobcat. Hope to see you in a gym soon.  ;)

 14.
No matter how many times we see this its still a bit shocking. But PLEASE dont try and make this a Central\Ozen thing >:(. This crap happens with teams of many different racial makeups. And I've felt threatened playing at many of our friendly "PW" communities in this area and many others. Wrong is Wrong. Bottom line. She should be punished according to her actions and thats it.
Well, after reading back through this thread it seems to me like you are the only one to make a distinction of racial boundaries.  You are right in the fact that this "could" happen anywhere at any school.  My point is that Ozen seems to think they can march to their own beat regardless.  See the previous thread of a few weeks ago "Does anybody REALLY know what happened at Ozen last night".

I much prefer to dwell on that positive note then simmer on the negative.
That was indeed a positive by the boys, but it doesn't "even the board".  The negative only simmers if the fire isn't extinguished.  Let's wait and see how the Ozen school officials react.
 16.
I can understand your concern and on the surface it might be frustrating to a Dayton, or other 19-4A fan.  I am not an insider to the officials group (how they are scheduled, etc) you reference, but let me give different perspective.  From what I hear, getting folks to become refs is hard enough and having a group of good, experienced ones is even tougher.  I know these men and women and they are not just in it for the extra cash.  The truly want to provide the area with good officiating.  If you become a referee, you are probably a basketball fan...and you probably support your local team, or even have a kid in the program.  If you exclude anyone with any ties to local basketball or local schools...well, good luck with that.  I'm not offering a solution, just the reality.  What I see is some fine BH area residents who have stepped up and took on a job that a lot of people (including me) would NEVER do.  The fact that there are a lot of BH officials is not BH's fault, ....maybe its the fact that other communities are NOT producing folks who will do it.  It ain't perfect but it could be a lot worse.
Nice post. There is not much thanks given to refs at any level.  For the average parent in the stands...it's hard for them to see the game with their eyes instead of their heart. There is one referee in the golden triangle that calls many 3A games and has a daughter playing within that 3A district.  I have seen her call 2 of her daughters games.  The first game I saw, I really scutinized her officiating closely and came to the conclusion that she was very fair and didn't seem to favor her daughter or her team.  That would be very hard to do.  There are some good ones out there.................(some)  ;D

Shelby Apperson dropped in another double-double for the Lady Bears, adding 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Kalyn Harkness added 10 points while dishing out 8 assists. The Lady Bears will begin the second round of district play on Tuesday at Lumberton.
Thanks...it was a big night.  We'll need some luck with the Lion hunting Tuesday, but you never know.  The Lions are certainly strong and playing well, but hopefully we'll put up a strong effort.  LCM split with Livingston last year and played close in the loss @ the Lions Den so maybe something good will happen for the Bears.  ;D
