1.
LMAO SO THATS WHAT THAT NOISE WAS.I HAVE WATCHED HIGH SCHOOL BALL BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS AND NEVER HAD I WITNESSED SUCH BAD OFFICIATING. ITS BAD WHEN ONE MAKES A CALL AND IT TAKES 15 MINUTES TO EXPLAIN IT TO THE OTHER TWO.color=green]
Agreed. Usually (whether right or wrong) one of the three refs step up and take charge to lead the officating crew.  ALL THREE of these guys were clueless.  This game was out of control early and continued to get worse as the night went on.  I have seen a lot of games myself and try not to harp on the officiating too much, but this was at the top of the list for bad jobs by officials.  It would have been better to just play it like street ball and have the girls call their own fouls.
 2.
Ozen did not press. They only started two starters and played a freshman non starter most of the game. It seem to me that PNG was missing some girls since that last time I saw them play. They did not have anyone that could handle the ball.
BS  ;)
 3.

Classless
Agreed...we could do this in half of our district games but choose to show respect to our opponents and to our non-starters.  Can't wait to get another shot at them.    >:(
I'm sure your statement about BH is true.   Leadership reflects attitude...whether thats the coaching staff or school administration.
 4. This game started at 2:00PM.   About 5:00PM I was startled by three very loud "POPS" and started to call 911, but then realized it was probably just the the referee crew pulling their heads out!
 5.   :-X :-X :-X :-X I think I just ruptured something trying to keep my comments in!  ;D
 6.
Heck Slam sounds like I need to come and watch and offer my opinion from the stands like the old days ! LMAO...... Glad to hear the Lady Bears are playing better.
Come on CC...I value your opinion...there are a lot of "old days" to re-live.  LCM is playing MUCH better.  I'll send you directions to the gym.  Go to the softball field and turn left...it's "indoors".   I'll save you a seat.  I need you there, I had 77 sitting with me last night and he was reminising about when girls played "half court" basketball!  You could have chimmed in on that!!!
 7.
Just want to thank the fan base that came out.  BH crowd outnumbered the home crowd and that means a lot to the players!  Thank you  :) Kudos to Dayton, they are a solid team and played hard.  Should give Livingston a real run for their money in bi-district. This was a special game for Evans, #11, and her Mom and Dad.  It was one year ago this week that she blew out her knee in the same gym.  Six months of grueling rehab to get back to playing form.  I don't ever say much about my daughter on here, but will take this opportunity to say I am proud of you, Shan.  Way to fight your way back.
Sweet night and season for the Evans family!  Congrats! Great job Shannon in fighting back, working hard, and doing all with a sense of purpose and class.  I wish I lived close enough to see you play more often. Good to BH in the playoffs.
 8.
for your information... she is not the only one who shoots the ball.  it is a team effort.  one player can not guard five.  and when you are a senior you should shine, not sit the bench like probably your daughter's do!!!   plus, you have the scouts out looking also!!! get a grip you two stop hating.  that's why our girls are hardly ever recognized in southeast texas because no one wants to give the acknowledgement.  its all about the boys down here in southeast texas.  and when someone reads about how another person downs a girl basketball player, they form a damaging opinion.  spread love not hate!!!
WOW!  Bobcat05 touched a nerve.   Bobcat05...get your daughter off the bench and get her shooting!  ;)
 9.
I agree with you, Slam.  In the first half the fouls were heavily called against the Lady Raiders. (something like 11-4) As a biased Lady Raider fan, I would have the opinion that some of those first half calls were in the phantom category.  ;D ( My daughter had 3 of those in her 5 minutes.) In the 2nd half the fouls were more evenly called, but there WERE a ton of "no-calls" both ways. It was like a different referee crew came out for the 2nd half. The game was way more physical than the first half. But I have to say that I have seen that lots of times in basketball. I don't have a clue why. Maybe some of our referee posters can help us out with their opinions.
Thanks fiveoclocksomewhere for supporting and understanding that I wasn't trying to pin an LCM loss on the refs. I guess you saw the game much as I did.  Two completely different called halves.  Sorry your daughter got caught up in that.  Both of mine sat too for periods of time to protect them from further foul trouble.  Although I am MUCH biased to LCM, I try to see the game with my eyes instead of my heart. I'm not really looking to get into a big debate about or with referees, but I'm just saying BE CONSISTENT...just don't change the game by being inconsistent.
 10. Congratulations to the Lady Raiders. Very tough loss for the Lady Bears.  After a tough season the Bears were looking for their 3rd district win in the last 4 games and continue to play well.  LCM held double digit leads throughout this game and let it slip away down the stretch.  Lumberton had a run to end the 2nd quarter to pull within 4 and then another run in the 4th and never took the lead until the 1:09 mark in the game on a bombed 3 pointer.  LCM had chances to win down the stretch, but didn't seal the deal.  LCM had big game "double doubles" from both Payton Burns who finished with 12pt and 14 boards while Tiffani Thompson had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears.  Well coached, but frustrating game for the Bears.  **** In no way are my next comments intended to take anything away from the girls of Lumberton or their effort in this win for them.    I am still clueless as to how some games are officiated.  I'm sure the L-town fans would agree that both halves of this game were at opposite ends of the spectrum.  The first half I felt was called fairly well and tight...and then the second half was filled with no calls, phantom jump balls, and muggings.  As long as officals set the tone from the beginning and establish a pattern...fine, but don't let an obvious assault go and then call a hand check.  Sometimes there seems to be no rhyme or reason to fouls. Congrats again to the Lady Raiders on a hard fought game and Congrats to the Bears for the MUCH improved play down the stretch!
 11.
Best senior shooter - Marissa Wyatt, Orangefield.
Marissa is having an outstanding year.  She's had some HUGE scoring games.  Got any avearges for her?  (Don't know if they'll compare to TEARDROPS daughter  ;D)
 12. LCM 61 Nederland 42   Congratulations to the Bears on a solid team effort.  Guards Kaylin Harkness and Shelby Tucker made good decisions and shredded Big Ned's defense all night with great passes to set up many scoring opportunities for a host of team mates.  Don't have all the stats, but do know that LCM scoring was lead by Harkness with 20, Tiffani Thompson 18, and Payton Burns chimmed in with 12.  On the defensive side, the Bears forced 22 turnovers and never allowed Nederland's big guns to get good looks at the bucket.   Great team win for LCM.
 13.
slam- i agree, lady bears came to play, and stuck with their game plan...very few easy baskets for us in that game..good luck the rest of the way!!
Roar,   Thanks for your positive comments to the girls of LCM.  They have had some tough breaks, injuries, and illness that have hampered their season.  They are really starting to play much better and it's nice to have someone from outside of their circle to acknowledge their effort. The Lions are strong and loaded with talent and good coaching. I wish them well in the playoffs.  I still think the wear of their travel really hampers them down the stretch.  Good luck!
 14. Nice effort by the Bears tonight.  Game stayed close until a shooting dry spell by the Bears in the 4th locked it up for Livingston.  Even though "moral victories" still get recorded in the "L" collum, Coach E probably felt good about her teams effort especially after yet another injury or illness had a starter on the sideline tonight.    The Bears continue to fight and improve.  I wouldn't be surprised with several "W's" down the stretch for the Lady Bears in this second half of district. Side note: The long drive to Livingston is tough enough once...but I can't imagine how tough it must be for the Lions and parents to make long away games each week!
 15.  Nothing like some wholesome trash talk to get in the spirit of the holiday tournaments and get em off on the right foot!   Ozen is athletic, but I think BH will take this tourney championship when the smoke clears.  Ozen's post is in fact 6'0 240, but will be "undersized" by BH's post who is probably in the 6'2" range.  I've also seen enough of the BH guards to know that they will be able to take care of themselves as well.  Looking forward to seeing this matchup.  What ever the outcome...I'll be there to see it. This is always one of the best tourneys in the area.

Gave you an answer 77
No, my question was where have the great running backs of the last few yrs gone?
Cook went DII and had a decent career from what I recall...Someone help me on the numbers. Hemmings played Safety at McNeese. Harmon is a Freshman at Lamar. Bertrand won't be heavily recruited next year because he ain't big (he'll play at 5'9" and around 200 lbs in 2011), and he ain't real fast (he'll run a 4.6 probably next year), but much like some of the others from above when the pads are on he is a player. Nelson will get some interest I am sure at the FCS level in 2012. He is 6'2" with decent speed (4.6), amazing hands and the ability to go get it! Peveto is only a Sophomore, but at 6'3" 200 lbs and growing (I suspect he will play LB at 220 pounds by Sr. yr) with very good speed for his size, I suspect he could be the first big recruit we have had in some time. There is another intriguing Sophomore that was on the team at years end with the size and drive to get some looks down the road as well (Reasons at OL is 6'3" 250 and growing). If he grows like his brother and ends up 6'5" 280+ he will be a beast. I hear unlike his brother he has a passion for FB!
Let's be perfectly honest, Bertrand won't be heavily recruited because he is a 5'9" WHITE running back.  If he were black the 5'9" would not matter.
Why don't you knock it off, really.  That's really uncalled for.  You always spew this garbage on the threads.  Do it again and you'll be outta there, perminantly!  Have a nice day!   :) :)
Why is there always a "Do it again..." or "Next time..."?  Pull the plug.  You can't make a statement like "AggiesWeAreNot" did without knowing exactly what you're doing.
 17.
Barbers Hill 76 Texas City 22 Next game at 3pm in the Coleman Coliseum next to Tully. Likely against Cy Ranch
Whoo!  Glad they could "hold out".  ;D  Looks like BH is playing well and taking care of business.  Truely hope all players recover from illnesses and are ready to play. Looking forward to seeing you after Christmas Hillguy!
 18. I enjoy watching the playoffs, but why do people feel the need to ride someone elses coattails?  Just asking.
 19.
1. Central 2. Livingston 3. Ozen 4. LCM/Lumberton
This is good and pretty accurate, but this district may be even more wide open than before. Ozen is stronger than I thought and Lumberton has a strong team with big numbers.  (Lots of kids in the program)  If the turmoil settles, the Raiders could be very strong.  Vidor is an upstart as well.  The new Vidor coach brings some new structure and more importantly his own daughters as well as a transfer.  Coach's freshman daughter will be the starting point guard...she will turn some heads.  Vidor could surprise teams this season.   Nederland has a transfer from Memorial, but unsure if that's enough to make a difference for a team that struggled with only 3 wins last season.
 20.

The Butch seats 10500 and the Rez seats about 14000
Correction.  10,600 seating...
10,600 INSIDE the stadium for now.  "Butch" wants to face the new hotel toward the stadium and sell floors 4-12 in that direction as "luxury suites"!   ;D
 21. I missed the post game show, but did see after the postgame handshakes that TSonnier tracked down ZSonnier for a few quick words to congratulate/console...I thought to myself at the time that sportsmanship of that kind too often gets missed these days.  Wish I had seen the interview.  Nederland outplayed LCM in just about every phase of the game.  Plain and simple.  LCM was flat in the biggest game of the season.  I wish things had turned out differently for the seniors who really have taken steps to bring LCM's program up a few notches.   Great season for the Bears.
 22.
Easily Jeff "the jet" Bergeron
BINGO!  Hands down!  Final Answer! If your answer isn't "Jeff the Jet" you never saw him play.
 23.
I bet Gonzales sits out. Really is a shame. He is a great athlete and the the heart of LCM's offense. The stand in will do his very best no doubt but those are some big shoes to fill on little experience. If I'm right, Unfortunately Ned will take this one easily.
Unfortunately for the Bears and Hunter, he will not be 100%...but I doubt if he doesnt attempt to play.  If the O-line holds up like they did in the 4th against Livingston and gives Hunter the time to deliver the ball, the Bears may just be OK. It may not be too disappointing to have the ball in Zack Sonniers hands more either. Go Bears!
