  1. This team is a matchup nightmare for us on paper. They have a 6 foot 4 mobile QB, a 6 foot 5 receiver and a 6 foot 2 receiver. They  also have another WR who leads the team in yards, catches and TDs and a running back with very good stats. I think this will be the best team we’ve played by far this season. We will need a HUGE team effort. Let’s go Dogs!

Precisely. Every rb needs to hit the hole regardless of type of back. Otherwise you allow it close and you get stuffed. That's what holes are for and why there are blocking schemes. You can be a scat back all you want but if you don't read and get to your spot, you will just end up dancing around the line of scrimmage

Well, I will say this. Y’all saw him at about 50% in MCM. He hurt his ankle in the first quarter of the Vidor game and hasn’t been the same since. Kade Scott and Josh Maczyk are both great backs that are totally opposite. Macyzk has great moves and is the fastest back we have. Those two are gonna be great for the next 2 years.

If he (Mazyck) quits all the dancing and tip toeing and hits the hole, he might have something. Plenty of times i thought he would gash us only to see him dance in the hole instead of hitting it and taking off, which I was happy for. Simmons did that pretty well against us in regard to hitting the hole with a move and taking off through it.

Fact of the matter is that the last 3 weeks we do not resemble at all what we did on offense early in the year. Macyzk got hurt in the Vidor game and has been 50% at best ever since. Scott getting hurt in the Crosby game for the season is HUGE. Those guys have been the majority of the offense all year. Last week, Blaysin and Macyzk played only a handful of plays and we were very fortunate to pull it out. We will have to play 10 better to pull out a win this week.

he did get ran over but that kid has heart as big as anyone,he got right up and back at it,,take a lot more than that to get hiltz off a field!!

And the first win was at home, vs a non-playoff team, with as bad a QB as we’ve had in ages and it still took a 2nd half comeback before pulling away in the 4th.

He has definitely been a stud in all 3 Ned games, though.

Willowridge is impossible to figure out three losses are to two regional favorites and a 6A playoff team (8-2 Dulles). There wins are largely against sub-par opponents. They have the classic issue of being between HISD bad and Manvel/Marshall good but no one really knows where in that pack they are.

Nederland is in that same category we probably know they aren't as good as the teams that beat Willowridge but they are much better than the teams that lost to Willowridge so at this point I throw my hands up and go I have no clue whos gonna pull this one out.

Who knows I'll give the advantage to the home team that has a history of making big plays on defense.

    Nederland by 6.5

I think that’s a fair assessment with the unknowns. I think they are going to be a dangerous opponent especially with our banged up backfield. We did not look the same on offense last week without Scott and with a gimpy Maczyk. Should be a good game!

Stattrax, my ploy wasn't about Nederland's defense or one wide receiver from the past who was great going up and plucking a ball out of the air.......to credit the QB. Or, it wasn't about PNG winning the game. Or about how the QB didn't play his butt off.  It was simply about personal team attitudes that you have no idea about.

PNG played a great game and deserved the win. They were the better team Friday night.

For those of you wondering what was wrong with Ned Friday vs the rest of the season? It wasn’t the QBs fault, he played harder than anyone we have. The problem IMO is not having your Bell cow RB and his partner in crime playing injured. PNG stopped our RBs and forced us to throw more than we like. That’s not our game. Hopefully, Mazyck is healthy next week and we can stick with our game plan next week.

Congrats to PNG on staying patient, making some stops, and sticking with the game plan. We had no answer for Shug in the 2nd half!

  7. Good game Indians! Shug is a beast! The defense stepped up big time. The better team won tonight. We had no answer for Shug. Ned had to play keep away without Kade Scott and a very hobbled Macyzk and did in the first half, but PNG forced us to have to pass a lot in the 2nd half which isn’t our bread and butter. I was surprised we didn’t use Fuselier or Armani more with Mazyck obviously limited. Blaysin ran hard all night. Hats off to the Indians for making the stops when they needed them and making several key 4th down conversions.

Good luck to the Indians in the playoffs. Let’s regroup and get healthy, Dogs!

    Just to back my opinion

    According to MaxPreps:

    PNG-Nederland have 7 common opponents

    Silsbee plus district games

Offensively PNG puts up 305 points in those 7 games for an average of 44 points per game

Offensively NED puts up 259 points in those 7 games for an average of 37 points per game

Defensively PNG allows 189 points in those 7 games for an average of  27 points per game

Defensively NED allows 119 points in those 7 games for an average of  17 points per game

So common sense would think if Nederland holds PNG to 35 points or less they will win a nail biter.

If PNG can get to the 40s it will be interesting.

Nederlands defense is giving up 2 TDs per game. That's pretty stout in this day and age.

Great work on the stats. Only misleading part of this is that a lot of the points that Ned has given up recently have been in the 4th quarter when the starting offense and starting defense is on the bench. Not all games, but definitely multiple times. Barrow has taken the starters out very early this season. That won’t happen Friday because this will be a close game.

IMO this is a make or break game for the BF era. If we lose he will be 2-8 against Nederland. Shug will play his last home game at the REZ, which will be the end of another ERA.. I think he give all he has, but unfortunately I just don't think it will be enough. Nederland will scheme to stop the run. And I think the DBs will be able to stop our WRs. The coaching edge goes straight to the dogs. BF tends to freeze up in these games, I have talked to several current and past players about what happens during this game, and the all say the same thing..... Nederland owns the edge on defense, and special teams, I think the offenses are both capable of putting up points. We do have the best athlete on the field, but we do not field the best team. I think Nederland is the most complete team in the district. We win if SHUG goes super beast mode and  we get a few turnovers. If its a tight game Nederland wins hands down... I hate to pick against us, but we are not real good on the defensive side of the ball and special teams. Monte will have a few wrinkles thrown in and defensively we will not adjust. Hopefully I'm eating my words Friday at around 10:30, but only time will tell.

Excellent analysis and I hope you are right. I think the Dogs will go all out to stop Roschon, but I feel he is unstoppable. I don’t think he can beat this Ned team by himself though. I think Barrow will trust his secondary to cover man to man since Ned has the best secondary in the district. Roschon will get his, but if the Dogs can cover well it’ll be tough on the Indians. Ned will need to grind it out on offense and keep Roschon off the field. It’ll be harder with the injuries at RB, but I suspect Barrow will have a great game plan. Should be a great game!
