Ned vs PNG 10:30am Saturday

Great run by PNG. I was expecting this would happen last week, but they surprised me. This version of SOC was a lot better than the previous two IMO.

Any Friday updates?

Great win by PNG. Yup, I was wrong in this one.

Always hanging a season on MCM is an embarrassment to you little Ned fans. Yes, we will see come Friday. High School football is about matchups. Just like the previous seasons, our defense improves week to week. What excuses will you come up with next week after we beat the team that destroyed Ned in week 1. If PNG can win state again this year, Ned can brag how they gave them the only loss. 🤣🤣🤣guess we can be co-champs.
Matchups are very important. You like the matchup of the PN-G secondary against the receiving core of Texas High?

You are entitled to your opinion. Deep down we all know a PNG victory against a team that dismantled little Ned hurts. But hey, you can always brag sitting at home about MCM. LOL
Beating Hallsville and Kaufman didn’t take that Mid County Madness sting away, did it? Our district had 4 GOOD teams, but not a GREAT team in my opinion. This PN-G team is not the caliber of the previous two versions, again just my opinion. The 3 teams that PN-G barely beat or lost to in district have been thoroughly beaten by better teams in the playoffs. Texas High is really good. You will soon see that.

Hoping this will be a good game, but I think Texas High has too much. PN-G in both of their playoff runs the last two years haven’t really faced passing teams. Texas High is a balanced offense with a great QB and stud WRs and an outstanding RB. I think it will be similar to the 2021 meeting between the two teams.
Obviously PN-G wants to use the big O-Line and run the ball and milk the clock. I just don’t think they will be able to score enough points to keep up with the quick strike offense that Texas High has. PNG doesn’t have the secondary to slow down the passing game in my opinion.
PNG is well coached, big and physical and plays hard. I just think Texas High is on a different level.

I could have sworn (without immediately searching back through the preseason threads) that the team that everyone wrote out of the playoffs was Montgomery. Nederland fans that I know in person aren't surprised about the Bulldogs current standing in District, with all the returning starters and new HC. Plus I haven't heard of any major injuries. If that's true (all starters healthy), then they're about the only team in district that can say that. The most surprised fans I see this season are the PNG and Dayton folks.
No injuries? We lost a D1 linebacker to a torn ACL in week 1 that’s committed to Navy, but ok. We were supposed to finish in the 4th-6th range. Still may finish 4th… District is tough. Lake Creek and Dayton underperformed. Montgomery is a little better than I thought. PN-G and Huntsville (along with LC) were all teams that almost EVERYONE had locked in the top 3. I didn’t see anyone having Ned playing for a DC the final week, but maybe there were a few. I don’t remember it though.
Great regular season any way you slice it. Hope we can put an exclamation point on it Friday night.

Reports of the sky falling in Nederland are greatly exaggerated. I was very impressed with Huntsville and we went toe to toe with them for 4 quarters. We got beat by a very good team last night and are 5-1 in district with a win against our arch rival on their home field and avenged a 48 point playoff loss last year, too. The Dogs control their own destiny next week in Montgomery. Fact of the matter, there are 5 really good teams in this district that can beat each other on any given night. Before the season started if anyone would have told us Ned fans that we’d be playing for the district title in the final week of the season, I think we’d be pretty happy with that! Let’s go Dogs!

Great game tonight. Huntsville is the best team we’ve played in my opinion. Congrats on a hard fought win.
For all you guys saying Ned finishes 4th if they lose to Montgomery, I’m not sure that’s correct. I think head to head is the tiebreaker in two way ties. In 3 way ties, I think it goes to point differential amongst the tied teams. Therefore, the current points for the teams that would be tied 5-2 (if Montgomery beats Ned) would be:
Huntsville +21 (15 point win vs Mont and 6 point win vs Ned
Nederland -6 (6 point loss to Huntsville)
Montgomery -15 (15 point loss to Huntsville)
If this is the case, wouldn’t Montgomery have to beat Ned by 5 or more to not be the #4 seed?

Great game! Ned brought it all night long. Scott Rich was an amazing hire and he has brought the school spirit back to Nederland. You love to see it. Great job, Dogs. Dogs looked way more focused and much faster than the Indians tonight. Good luck the rest of the way to both teams.
