Ozen wins another close one, but won't be shocked if it's the reverse.  At some point, folks are going to see that Nederland is a lot better than most (including myself) gave them credit for coming into this season.  I will be very surprised if the top 3 teams in this district don't all get at least one playoff win.  And I still kind of expect Nederland to pull off a district upset, whether it's the Panthers or the Jags.  

How about common opponent...  Central beat Nederland on the road  by 8 and Ozen beat Nederland at home by 5....  And had to come from behind to do it....

They are so good for a small school that they are the Yardmark for all the programs around here.  IMO a huge compliment to a great program.

I have been pretty vocal in defense of Miguez when it comes to clapping and throwing up the 3 sign. It's all emotion,  exactly like Parish last night. But it is against the rules so don't get caught  lol. Bad sportsmanship IMO would be stepping on a player when he's laying on the ground or not helping a player up and just walking by and staring at him. Not shaking hands after the game. 

Some people understand the difference between common trash talk and taunting an opposing player. Holding up Three fingers as you run down the court after hitting a 3 is not the same as personalizing your action on another player.  Example: Hitting a 3 and doing the Jason Terry is perfectly fine. Dunking on a player and hitting him with the throat slash gesture is not fine. 
 

Trash talk is part of the game.. If you have a problem with what the kid did then YOU have a problem when some of these oher players including some Nederland players that run down the court with 3's in the air,above the eye 3's ,flying airplane like Jason Terry  etc etc when they hit shots... Personally i have no problem with any of it ..but thats just me 

Can't argue with that. Simply put if we made our FT's we win this game.

Yea its is the rule but the way sports is going their taking emotion out of the game everyone will be robots on the court

Free throws win games, we didn't hit ours when we had to have them. And you're right Miguez was off, he didn't hit one 3. However, kid is a scorer. He took it to the rack and ended up with 17-19, I think only one was a jump shot. Maybe should've had it in his hands more in the 4th, I think he only took 2 shots

I was there. It was a good game, but Miguez was off from the outside. I think he was 0-6 in the first half from 3's...unlike him. The tech in my opinion wasn't a game changer. It was a game of runs. So if you point to the tech as the reason the game was close, you could easily also point to the fact that if Miguez was on, it would have been an entirely different game as well. The key was that Nederland didn't let Ozen get out and run. That slowed the game down and when that happens to a team like Ozen, who likes to run, it's anyones game. Ozen hit free throws in the fourth quarter and Nederland didn't. Question is, will Nederland be ranked this week after giving a top 10 team fits on the road?

As for the state rankings, I think it will depend on what they do at home Friday night against another state ranked team.

Here is the answer:
With about 4 min/3:30 remaining, Ozen fouled us and we missed the front end of the 1-1 twice. Ozen capitalized with an easy bucket on a deep 3. That tied the game, so we stalling wasn't a viable option, IMO. 

Ned was up by 7 with about 3 mins left. I kept waiting for our stall but it never happened? Why not hold the ball and wait for the foul?

Huge confidence booster for the Dogs, even in a loss.  They will beat at least one of the Beaumont schools (Ozen or Central) this year.
