1. Good season premier, you gotta feel for the poor Lions and Coach Taylor though, 45-0 at the half!  A lot different from Panther football.
 2.
One thing I've learned, nothing is permanent.  Schools/buildings/businesses change names all the times. What goes up, must come down.  It's the circle of life. ;)
Yep, I think the Greenies would agree with you on that.
 3.
You talking about the outdated offense that has hung 84 points on you in the last 2 years? Pirates roll again in 2010, bears can't stop  this offense. bears finish in the bottom 3.

I look for LCM to be very similar to the Vidor team last year. Both had a lot coming back from not very good teams. Vidor got in the playoffs and I look for LCM to do the same.
I don't see LCM anything like Vidor.  Vidor runs, and has for some time now, an outdated strictly ground-oriented offense.  And outside of the offensive line, they didn't really have any stand-outs. Now take LCM.  In their first year in a pass-happy spread offense, they showed remarkable improvement.  They are significantly faster than Vidor (going to regionals in 4x1 and 4x2) and have a stud quarterback and stud receiver.  Probably b/c having to practice against this offense, the pass defense was definately above average last year, and should be significantly better this year.  And look for the problems at linebacker to be fixed. While Vidor returned more starters, LCM returns more game-changers and has enough speed to compete in the 21st game. My diagnosis:Top 3 in district
;) ;) ;) ;)
For a team with no standouts, I thought Kevin Tate and Shane Pittman were  pretty decent ballcarriers. ???
 4.
Vidor is only playing 4 home games.  And they have a game against a school with a 1000 less students?
Last year was only 4 home games as well.  Who are they playing with only 450 students? Kirbyville I thought moved up to 3A this year?  I know BC is 3A and I believe Texas High is 5A although it may be 4A.
 5. Hmmm....playing Vidor at home again this year.  Don't teams usually alternate home games year to year?
 6.
RC Slocum, MB Slocum Jim Colvin (Started on defense for 1964 Dallas Cowboys along with Joe Bob Isbell of Little Cypress who started on offense) David Foster, Jeep Colburn, Billy Fissette are some of the names from the late 50s and early 60s
Should have remembered Jeep Colburn from the '60's, and of course R.C. Slocum.  Didn't know, ( or forgot), that Colvin played for the Tigers. .
 7. An SFA defeat would be worse IMHO.  Ragin' Cajuns have played a tougher schedule and probably has a bit more cred on the national scene than SFA.
 8. Let's see....  Harold Haunschild, Vincent Rao, Patrick Gibbs, David Peet, Mark Oldham, Roy Alba, and  George Toal are all I can come up with.
 9. Better enjoy the cold weather and (snow?) while we can, all too soon everybody will be griping about how hot it is. :D (sorry, just wanted to get that 100th post in,  ;))
 10.

LCM has from 14-16 returning starters (depending on how and when you count it.)  They have 4 or 5 players from last year's freshmen team that will make immediate contributions.  They have 10 players that will graduate 3-year starters, and lose none of the skill position players on offense, besides Johnny Epps, who started the first 5 games but was primarily cornerback the second half of the season.  However, they do play both PNG and Nederland away, inexplicably, for the second straight year.  Anyways... 1.PNG-losing a bunch, but PNG always is senior dominant.  Faircloth really knows how to capitalize at such a football-crazy school. 1a. Central-also lost a bunch (i think losing Hale will hurt them worst.)  However i seem to remember counting out last year's team for the same reason.  The returning running back (Heard?) is legitimate 1b.LCM-obviously my favorite team, but with all those returners in the second year of Coach Crouch's system, with how much they improve from '08 to '09... 4.Nederland-Surely Forney will qb again next year, it's just surprising they didn't put him there sooner.  I think, as far as returning players goes, Nederland is better off then Central or PNG 5.Lumberton-has Ryan's Hughes and Asher returning, as well as a host of will-be juniors and seniors.  I see them being better than last year, but the loss of Jesse Sparks, Kyler Keith, Anthony Beard, etc will hurt them 6.Ozen-The two running backs are back, and that should keep them out of the district basement. 7.Livingston-I believe Blake Burnman was a junior.  Also, they had a big sophmore rb who should be decent.  But last year's team wasn't impressive and i don't see why this year's team will be any better. 8.Vidor-by far, the biggest disappointment of last season.  You had a team with a huge number of returning starters, many of which had played varsity since their sophomore year.  Vidor was the hot choice for district champs.  They dominated non-district (albeit against lesser competition.)  They ended up crawling into the play-offs and bowing out in the first round. They have no speed on a team with 3 returning starters.  And btw, the fan's conduct at last seaon's homecoming game against LCM was shameful and embarrassing.
Enlighten me on this
Yeah me too, I went to the game last year and don't recall any problems with either team's fans.
 11. If you don't finish in the top 4, the rest of it really doesn't matter.
 12.

They say what doesn't kill you,(tough pre-district schedule), makes you stronger........but in some cases it just kills you.
Lmao with that kind of logic you and I would make real good friends
;)
 13. With all the growth Lumberton is experiencing, you'd think they would have more students in high school.  Guess the new folks either have young children, no children or are retired.
 14. I see no love for Lumberton so far, did they lose that many players from last year?
 15. They say what doesn't kill you,(tough pre-district schedule), makes you stronger........but in some cases it just kills you.
 16. Yep, lost the line and the running backs.  Will be depending a lot on last year's JV players.
 17.
Im hearing Vidor and Kirbyville might be at a neutral site
Why would they want to play at a neutral site?  Plenty of room at Pirate Stadium for this game.  If any game needs to be at a neutral site, that would be the Texas High game because of the distance involved.  A site close to halfway would benefit fans of both teams.
 18. It wasn't long ago that these two teams played on a semi-regular basis.
 19. I get what your saying about the numbers, substitutions etc.  However, Vidor will not have 50 or 60 players suited up, more like 36 to 44 if years past are a good barometer.  Also while some players will go in and out, there will not be wholesale substitutions, most of the starters will play the whole game. Pirates do not have the sidelines full of players like say the mid-county schools. If last year's line was back and the stable of running backs, then yes, I would say they could wear down a team with lesser numbers in the second half.  But those guys are gone.
 20. Vidor lost most of it's players to graduation.  Only a very few starters returning, (QB is one though).  Will be depending on a lot of players with no varsity experience.  On the other hand K'ville has quite a few lettermen returning from a trip to the state championship game.  I agree that numbers will always favor the higher classification schools in their games against lower classification schools, but you can only put 11 on the field at a time.  K'ville's experience may very well negate the numbers disadvantage.
 21. that's a strong predistrict schedule.  Good scrimmage opponents in Coldspring and Crockett also.
 22. badndn, you are probably right about this year's team.  '09 squad was senior laden.  QB is coming back and a few others.  Will most likely be heavily dependent on last year's JV who I believe was runnerup to your Indians in district.
