1. OK, now maybe the jokes about the private schools scheduling will stop.  Texas High will  be a tough test.  And although BC and K'ville are 3A,  Kirbyville was a state finalist the past two years and BC is an up and coming team that the Pirates used to play regularly.
 2.
Van,   You might want to do your homework and see who Vidor TRIED to schedule. Instead of writing a story on something you dont have all the facts to..
Who besides Crosby?  What other teams are scheduled besides Texarkana?
 3. Texas High will be some trip.  Vidor used to play the Longview Lobos and Marshall Mavericks back in the 70's, but this trip will be even farther. Who else is on the Pirates' pre-district schedule?  (I know, not Crosby).
 4.
As of now Vidor has Bridge City in week 1 and had Livingston as a non-dristrict but the UIL jacked that up so they are still looking for more games
Glad to see Vidor vs Bridge City again.  These Orange county teams used to play on a regular basis.
 5.

It's obvious to most that Crosby is the community with race problems rather than Vidor.   I hold Coach Flanigan to at least being partial to blame.  He scheduled the game/s.  He went to school in Lumberton and coached in Orangefield (2 of the many good schools in the Triangle).  He knows about all the area schools.  He should have stood up, told everyone about the good people in the Triangle and insisted the game be played as he scheduled.  I am convinced that he could have kept the game on his schedule.  I have never heard of an AD with even a small amount of courage letting the Superintendent tell him who not to play for a bogus reason like this.   Other Texas communities that have Crosby on their schedules should insist on a credible answer.  If I thought it was BS; I would petition my school to cancel the game.   I would be interested in hearing from anyone concerning how serious the race problems are in Crosby.  Must have been very bad for the community to react in this manner. Crosby ISD owes the entire Vidor community a public apology for their being narrow minded!
really??? you think there are race problems in Crosby and not Vidor???????..... try this site then tell me what you think.... [Hidden Content] or this.................. Reported area around or near Vidor, TX 77662-5847   Pop. — African American 27 Pop. — Asian 108 Pop. — Pacific Islander 15 Pop. — American Indian / Alaskan Native 318 Pop. — White (26,753 Pop. — Other 316 Crosby Total Population: 20,143 White Population: 15,147 Black Population: 3,596 Hispanic Population: 1,978 Asian Population: 82 Hawaiian Population: 5 Indian Population: 103 I think you are mistaken.... No race problems in Crosby...Now Vidor??....well I will let you be the judge in that.
Hey Hitman, you miss the core of the discussion. Nobody has said that Vidor isn't a huge majority of white folks, what they are saying is that like in most cases, the real problem with racism here is with those school board members of a different race (is that politically correct?) in Crosby who believe they will be greeted by a bunch of sheet wearing hillbillies with their 12 gauge propped over their shoulder and their gas soaked cross ready to be planted and lit. Shoot, if they are that worried about it, schedule their games with Lumberton.......oh wait..we're mostly white too. One benefit to that though.....Quanell already knows how to get to Lumberton. :o
6.
This makes me think for the 'Friday Night Lights' the series. He's in pretty much the same situation.
Man you know it, Dillon Panther coach has got some pressure!  Just ask coach Taylor about the yard signs after one loss.
 7. Well, so much for that attempt to strengthen Vidor's pre-district schedule. :(
 8. Nice, a shame he wasn't fully healthy for the whole season.  Gonna miss him, Tate and Pittman for sure.
 9. Coach Taylor liked to fake the dive to either me or Smash, then roll Saracen right with pass/run option. ;)
 10. LCM will most likely build on the improvement shown in '09, but making the playoffs may be a little further down the road.
 11. The UIL made the decision to add a 4th team.  If a team's record is better than the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th team in district, then by rule, the team has earned the right to advance to the playoffs, nothing was given to Little Johnny because by UIL rules, his team qualified.  Again, how does having 4 teams qualify for the playoffs take anything away from the district winner?  They won district by beating playoff bound/non-playoff bound teams and get the number one seed regardless of how many other teams go. Number of teams going in no way takes the luster off a district championship.
 12. People griped when the second place team made the playoffs, then the third place team.  I think the UIL will stop at four teams.  State championships have been won by second and third place teams.  Will a 4th place team win a championship?, doubtful, but only time will tell.  ( The NFL added a wild card team, then a second wild card team in each conference.  The NCAA's March Madness lets 64 teams into the tournament. The BCS added at large teams. Even staid old Major League Baseball has broken into divisions and has a wild card team from each league.) I don't think a district championship is diminished by having 3 other teams qualify.
 13. I don't have a problem with 4 teams qualifying, especially in an 8 or 10 team district.  In a 6 team district, it may be a bit questionable.  Another team gets to experience the playoffs and if they aren't that good, they go out early and the team that beats them moves on with another W on the record.  In 19 and 204A this year, GCM, Barber's Hill, Vidor and Nederland all went out in the first round, but you can bet they had rather have  been playing that 11th game than staying home.
