I think you can only attribute the field goal to the officials with the clock not running on the long pass play.  Tonight BC was the better team and deserved the win.

Some observations on the game,  BC has a very legit running and passing game.  Great kickoff and place kicker. Kickoff coverage excellent.  Defense was salty, didn't let Vidor break off the big run.  Menard and Dishon every bit as good as advertised.  Bridge City will make the playoffs this year. Vidor obviously is inexperienced with 4 starters coming back from last year.  Very small on defense, noseman looked to weigh about 135-140.  Except for Clark, running backs are small also.   Need to practice tackling and pass defense.  Offense showed some life with the running game, passing "game" nil.  This will be a rebuilding year for Vidor.

remember that's the same stadium BC had when they were 4A, 8500 should be plenty.  Plus there's always the fence to hang on!

Sounds like somebody wants to get together a 20 4A All-Star team. ;)

Really though, polls are just opinions based on factors like stats, wins, returning starters, recent success, strength of opponents, etc.  Kinda cool that East Texas has Texarkana, Tyler J.T. and Marshall ranked together at 10,11 and 12.  Not sure that these three are all in the same district though.

I see where Texas High's win over Vidor moved them up to #10, a 9 spot jump.

Was surprised by the closeness of the game due to Vidor only having 2 returning starters on each side of the ball and the quality of the opponent.  The next 2 non-district games, BC and K'ville, should show if the Pirates are indeed a team that should have previous expectations elevated.

I agree, should be a great game and close.  I just don't see a 2 or 3 TD win by either team, more like a 7 or 10 point spread.

Any team that can win 4 games in 20-4A is usually a lock for the playoffs or at least in a tie for a playoff spot.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles fare when Barbay goes into retirement.  Will they continue the high standards Newton football achieved under Barbay or will there be a noticeable dropoff?  How much of the success can be attributed to talent and how much to coaching is a question that can come up when the head coach of a respected program like Newton's retires or is replaced.

Look for the district favorite Indians to break the two game losing streak this week against the Cougars.

Lumberton should take this one. I believe some people have underestimated the Raiders this year.

I doubt Vidor will score 50 against BC, but I seriously doubt they will be shut out.
