1. Overtime games do not come out well for the Pirates.  2 OT loss to Ozen in 2000 for the district championship, then the classic OT shootout with Central last year and now the 2 OT loss to Texas High.  A conversion jinx seems to be in place with failed 2 point conversion tries in the first two, then a missed PAT late in regulation vs. T.H. that caused this game to go into OT.
2. "Dock of the Bay" :  see Otis Redding, "Sittin by the"
3. Kinda funny reading most of these predictions now.
4. This incident reminds of the mailbox in front of the empty lot in Dillon that Buddy Garrity put up! When this nefarious plot was found out, Luke had to quit the Panthers and enroll at East Dillon.
5. Looks like the Pats are turning the ball over quite a bit.
6. I think he played in the mid-70's, '74, '75 maybe.
7. I agree that a diversified offense is harder to defend than a one dimensional attack.  In Vidor's case, they probably wouldn't have to throw more than 20% of their plays to loosen up the defense.  Most teams play against the slot T with 8, (or more), defenders in the box.  The threat of a receiver getting behind that run-stop defense becomes very real with a credible passing game.
8. Vidor will need to play keep away with their ball control offense, hold onto the ball and limit Texas High's big play offense.
9. But what about playing a tougher schedule?  Isn't that supposed to help the team get ready for district regardless of the outcome?  That conclusion seems to be the consensus on this board for the past couple of years.
10.
I still pick Nederland to win at home. Ned--24 WOS-21 ;D
Will be interesting to see Hooks going after the officials on Nederland's home field.  Dan, "the Intimidator" vs. Mid-County Magic!
11.
Come on Vidor, win that ............. practice.
;D
12. Some will overlook Lumberton, but they do so at their own risk.
13.
Guys  they had 14 total yards and no first downs.  Vidor offense had 208 yds on 35 plays ( almost 6 1/2 yds per play)  Vidors jv (white helmets) played half of the reps..  Its a scrimmage.  Both teams will be fine.
That's the spirit!  With these two teams being so much alike, it was more like another practice, nothing really new, just different bodies to block and tackle.
14. I imagine this was indeed just like practice for both teams since they both run the same offense.  Livingston and Vidor are the only teams in 20 4A that run the slot T,  I don't think anyone else in OF's district runs it.  Will probably get a better idea of both teams when they face different offenses/defenses next scrimmage.
15. Groveton won state 2A championships in 1984, 1989 and 1990.  Rodney Thomas played on the '89 and '90 teams.  Groveton is the Trinity county seat on  hwy. 287 between Crockett and Corrigan.
16. Always a chance another network will pick it up.  Hope so, I need the work. ;)
17. Awesome video!  Highly recommend to anyone who loves football at any level.  Careful though, it might bring a tear to the eye.
18. I like the hypothetical 4A districts.  that would be sweet, hope you're right.
19.
Here's one guess of who would go where: [Hidden Content] if it happened then Central, Vidor, Ned and PN-G would probably have to go play in a 5A District with the Baytown schools or something like that
I know at this point everything is all guesses and speculation about numbers, realignment etc., but if these 4 schools did move up to 5A, what out of area teams do y'all think would likely fill the rest of the "new" district?
20. If 4A numbers top out at 1500-1600, then that would send Central to 5A.  I believe their number is over 1650 now.
21. Withholding water back then wasn't done so much as to make you tougher , it was thought then that water would make you sick to your stomach.  Hydration knowledge was limited compared to today.
