1. Yeah, was kinda worried about the hair y'know?
2. Nice to be out of the slammer, but now feelin' a little resentful about how it all went down.
3. Without getting too deeply into the politics of the current, and sure to be future, money shortages, the "average" person can't afford to pay more in taxes to go along with job uncertainty, inflation in gas and grocery prices, clothing and pretty much everything else.  when the government says there is no inflation to speak of, just look at what you're paying for things now compared to 2009.  Plus how many of us have dead certain job security today? As far as the schools cutting sports, according to the first article, there would be empty gyms, practice fields etc.  Not necessarily so, maybe the schools wouldn't have teams that played other schools or traveled throughout a district etc., but they could still play sports intramurally during the PE period, much like colleges and universities have intramural sports.  Not the same I know, but at least it wouldn't be doing away with school sports entirely. If this ever happens to Texas H.S. football, then I would say the financial end is near and you'd best prepare yourself and your family for some real uncharted territory.
4. Billy must be working with the receivers as well as the D-backs. ;)
5. It's being reported that UT has backed off on the recruitment of Wheeler.  Reason not yet publicly given.
Thats what i'm saying...  Two years ago Brenham faced a 2-8 Manor team.  The result was a 42-0 halftime score before we pulled the starters. I think the final score was 49-14.  I say 2 teams should make the playoffs from each district.
If that was the case La Marque would not have made the playoffs this year. ;)
Neither would Houston Memorial, tied for 3rd with Katy Taylor, but went as 4th place team due to loss to Taylor.  Made it to the Semi-finals where they lost to Cibolo Steele.  I say let 'em play, there are upsets every year by the 3rd and 4th place teams.
7. I know this is not a rule change, but I would like to see a 6A classification for the biggest enrollment current 5A schools.  P.S.  for everyone that wishes for the return to 2 playoff teams per district, you can bet the UIL will never go back to that format.
8. Trinity has been challenged recently, but as much as I would like to see Pearland win, I think Euless T. will take it.
9. Does anyone know Houston Memorial's district standing?  Noticed they have 5 losses so was wondering how they placed in their district. Going to the semi-finals with 5 losses is an impressive feat.  (also several 10-3 teams still playing).
10.

PNG is -9 and done Ned is +2 with LCM to play LCM is +2 with Ned to play Liv is +4 and done. If this 4 way tie occurs next Friday, you are right, PNG is highly unlikely to make the playoffs.  PNG needs to win to get in.
You are correct, a four way tie is not favorable for us. We can lose and get in if LCM beats Nederland. With that being said , Nederland beating LCM seems a better bet than PNG beating Central. Just being realistic , but then again I didn't think we were going to beat LCM. Who knows?? Not giving up on them yet I just think Central is the only team in the district that truly stands out above the rest.
I agree about Central being the only team that stands out.  I believe the other teams could beat each other on any given Friday night.
11.

Having four playoff teams is a joke.
I agree. I wish they would go back to two!
that won't happen, if anything there is a better chance of more playoff teams in the bigger districts.  Besides think of all the excitement you'd miss trying to figure out playoff scenarios!  ;)
12. Livingston may very well win, but I don't look for them to hang 49 on the Pirates either.  Other than the 2OT loss to Texas High, no team has put up 40.  K'ville had 39, but then the 'Kats could beat any team in 20-4A this year as well.
13.
PNG WON, GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let it go!!!!!!!
I agree, let's move on.  Good luck PNG against Central.  Vidor has Livingston, let's get ready for them.
14. Congrats to Central, district Champs!    Lumberton...good game and much closer than I expected.  Be proud of your effort.
15. Faircloth was none too happy with Doty for drawing the unsportsmanlike, (taunting) foul after the touchdown pass.  The man was chewing on his butt big time.  He seems like a no nonsense kind of coach to me.
16. OK, Central is in, if LCM and PNG win, they are in as well.  Now if Livingston wins, Nederland wins, and PNG and LCM lose, then you've got a logjam of 4-3 teams (and you can add another if, (big if), Lumberton upsets Central and beats Ozen).
17. Also according to radio, Ozen had some drops by open receivers on their last possession.  Seems like this team is good enough to win, but is snakebit with bad luck.
18. You only have to look at what WOS was able to do against the 2nd and 3rd teams in district, BC and Silsbee, that tells you how good they are vs the rest of the league.
19. LCM  wins, they are in.  could come down to tiebreakers if Ned wins, depending on other games outcome.
20. Was listening on the radio coming home from our game.  KLVI announcer said it didn't look like Green's knee touched.
21. Good game Indians!  Classy move by Faircloth to have Doty take a knee at the end.  As anyone who went to the game saw, Pirates definitely had their chances, but turnovers still plague this team.  The strip fumble inside the PNG 20 and the gift fumble inside the Vidor 5 come to mind.   No excuses though, turnovers, (and penalties) are part of the game. Good luck against Central next week.
i have a good idea of what it is. lets goooooooo
I know,  using the swinging gate formation from the 50 on in!  :D
23. What?,  the spread offense and empty backfield?  ;D
