1.
The thimg about football games have to be played and Ozen can play with anyone and beat anyone on any given night. I tell the boys stay focused on the task at hand . 1st DC, then 1st playoff win and go from there . But 1st things 1st beat Ozen and go for another shutout.
The first sentence of this post proved very true tonight, Ozen is still in the hunt and should play like it next week.
2. Nederland is in, no doubt about that, worst they can do is 5-2, only suspense then would be DC and seeding.
3.

guys if liv wins the pirates get a spot
If Liv wins what? If Vidor looses there next two and Ozen wins out Vidor is out That would mean Ned 6-1 Liv  5-2 PNG 5-2 Ozen 5-2 Vidor 4-3 In that order. Lot of If's. Similar can be said for PNG, Liv, and Ozen.
Like last year with LCM, 4-3 district and missed the playoffs. Most years 4-3 district record will get you in.  May take 5 wins this year.
4.
I think every team in 20 4a did something to honor number 28 in fact PNG # 28 didnt wear his jersey he wore 86 last night
Nice gesture by the Indians' #28.
5.

Hell, Vidor won a state title in the 60s, the year my dad graduated.  If it isn't this year, it really doesn't mean squat.  This IS high school, after all.
Vidor won a state title?
He's thinking about '64 when the Pirates  went to the state semi-final game and tied San Marcos 21-21, but lost on 1 penetration, 5-4.  This was before overtime and tie games in the playoffs were decided on penetrations first, then first downs, then total yardage.  Vidor had them on the other 2.  San Marcos went on to play Palestine in the title game and the Bill Bradley led Wildcats defeated the Rattlers for Palestine's only state title.
6. Robert Mitchell is back at QB, afraid it's going to be a tough night for the Raiders.  Jags are a different team offensively with him calling signals. Good luck to both squads.
7. Hmm, Central's Homecoming opponent tonight, PNG's HC foe next week. Luckily the Pirates' have Livingston at home or it'd probably be their HC game as well.
8. I think you could tell the loss of Matt was (understandably),weighing heavily on the team tonight, very subdued on the sideline and businesslike on the field.  With Robert Mitchell back at QB, this game had the potential to get away from the Pirates.  They did what needed to be done though and came away with a (likely) playoff clinching win.  Was impressed with Mitchell's running and passing and I know he's going to be sore tomorrow, he took some shots.
9. Playoffs?.....Playoffs??!! (ala Jim Mora rant).  Hope that horse can push the cart.  Gotta win the game first.
10. A very nice gesture for Matt and the Pirate community.  Thanks to all at West Brook for your support.
11.
Lumberton will bounce back I think. Growing community over there. Nederlands success has always come from coaching and preparation, not blue chip athleticism. This year we have a lot of above average athletes added onto the great coaching staff and voila. It's not that I don't think we've been talented, but injuries can plague your season and really make it an uphill battle. Anyways, I think getting a good coach and hanging on to him is key. Neumann has a lifetime job as far as I'm concerned. On a side note, not sure why vidor fans on this board are so persnickety. You have a good season going and you will earn more respect if you let Friday nights do the talking about how great your team is. Just because YOU feel like the team isn't getting enough respect doesn't mean people should have to post something new every day about how awesome vidor is. Finish it now. Get to the playoffs and win a game or two. You want your defense to be compared to Nederlands? Ok well after you've played everybody in district (mainly PNG/LIV) then we will have a fair comparison. Goodluck to lumberton, vidor, and the rest of the district for this season and beyond. if you want a winning tradition, you have to start somewhere. One or two seasons of a winning record or playoff appearances don't get you there if things go back downhill shortly after.
Good post.  Vidor has 3 tough games left, especially the last 2 with PNG & Livingston.  Maybe unlike some other fans, I don't doubt that the Pirates have earned some respect for their 6-1 record so far.  But I do think the end of the season is the time to take a look at the big picture.  As far as tradition, it's all about stringing good seasons together and sustaining it.  Every program will have a bump in the road as the talent level ebbs, key players graduate and coaches move on etc.  The ability to overcome the bumps, rebuild and come back strong is the mark of a good program and that helps gain respect and builds tradition. JMO.
12. I will remember Matt as he came off the field after his interception Friday night with that little skip and head bob that he had.  A tough as nails player and a great kid. RIP 28, you will never be forgotten.  Prayers to his family,  teammates and coaches, VHS and the whole community.
13.
Livingston needs to find a way to get the QB some rest during the game.  Against Nederland he was unstoppable in the first half, but ran out of gas in the 2nd.  He never comes off the field the whole game. Maybe Collins taking a few series off on defense every now and then would help him later in games.
Sounds like Montana Quirante for Vidor @ QB and linebacker.  This year it seems like more players starting on offense & defense in 20-4A.  I know all three of Vidor's QB's are starting on defense.
14.
Just curious, with the "projected" playoff teams in 19-4A, which would be D1 & which would be D1?
correction, D1 & D2
15. With Brown and Gray in the same backfield or even alternating......Wow!
16. Just curious, with the "projected" playoff teams in 19-4A, which would be D1 & which would be D1?
17. Yeah, one official especially seemed awfully eager to throw his flag.  I know of one, the interference on the uncatchable ball that was overruled and they picked up another one, I think it was his too.
They threw it a a couple of times when penalties had them looking at 2nd and 3rd and 20-25 yards to go.  Threw it once when receiver was just so wide open, then missed it when they tried it again. Way too many penalties for the Pirates tonight, almost 100 yards, with some costly 15 yard drive killers.
19. Well, I've got to say I figured it would be a lot closer than the 36-14 score, (LCM's last score came in "garbage time" with liberal substitution on the Pirate defense).  Bears just couldn't handle Vidor's big plays in the running game.  Bollinger still in the walking boot on the sideline, but David Smallwood showed up big with probably his best game of the season.
20.
Vidor is a scrappy bunch that I feel will do what it will take to make playoffs.  Good luck to you this Friday night and I will take the Pirates in a close game.
I agree, I believe this game will be closer than the majority seem to think.
21. Well, I  hope he is just suiting up because it's Homecoming, IMO he needs to stay on the sideline and get in another week of healing before coming back.  Would hate to see a re-injury and be out for the rest of the season.
22. Back to the topic of this thread,  without looking at the roster, I know just on the offensive side that the entire starting backfield of Clark, Bollinger and Smallwood are seniors, and  QB Austin Powell is also a senior.  Not to mention kicker Brandon Clayton.  That's losing some serious offensive production right there.
23. I agree, time to move on and good luck to Ozen the rest of the way.
24. I believe the Pirates take this game, but I won't be surprised if it is a close one score game.  LCM can be a dangerous  and Vidor had best be prepared for a tough game from a team that ill afford another district loss.
