  1. Some of our kids in Silsbee actually live more than 10 miles from the school(Caney Head), they manage. All of the small towns represented on this site are the same.... their districts encompass a large geographical area. WOS was very fortunate to have the buses as long as they have. I always see the kids with cars on the sports teams in dayton full of teammates after practices. The kids and parents will find a way. Just like the low-income families, families with parents out of work, etc. find a way to survive. Really this could not have come at a worse time. You say that all of the small towns are the same, well other that Bridge City which is not a school at all like WOS, how many of those just had hurricane Ike wipe out a large portion of the housing that these kids and parents were living in. Also how many cars do you think were completely flooded during the storm? I can tell you because I was one of the rescue workers in a boat pulling people from their flooded house. Every car that was in that area of town was lost, I am guessing 1000 cars are more. How many of those families do you think had full coverage insurance on their car. My guess is none. So most of these people have no car at this time, and can't afford to replace it. So not all of these small towns are the same as you say they are. Maybe you could make the argument before Ike that the parents should get involved, still not a great one, but now after Ike that argument just does not work, because many of the families really do not have a way to get there kids. They are totally dependant on the buses. And by the way Diamond J, hitchhiking is illegal, they might get arrested. my quote was really more in reference to the geographical makeup of the towns and the resilience of the people in those towns to make things happen when they have to. But.... if you say so.... WOS schools and families will crumble under the weight of not having extracurricular buses.

  3. if I knew the "5 finalists" like you... I wouldn't be that curious. I don't know who the 5 finalists are. I just know who one is. Curious to see who the other four are. gotcha

  5. you're such a tease! Not teasing.....there are a few people on here that can vouch for me on the fact that there is one guy on that list that is interviewing at PNG this week. Yes... a tease because you lead us on and don't give any info. I promise...if I could, I would. it's no biggie... I'll just file an FOI against you!!! ;D

  8. One step at a time. I agree 2A to 5A is a huge jump. It will happen though if he continues what he has been able to do in Kville. Football is football it doesn't matter the classification. it matters to those doing the hiring it seems...
  9. under investigation
  10. : we had a pretty good practice last year!! i guess you didn't make it to the scrimmage though.
  11. I assume they'll be in our district... they're located not too far from C.E. King and Kingwood Park if I remember correctly. Looks like they got a good coach as well.... which will be good for our district in the long run. Hopefully the level of competition in 19-4A continues to rise.
  12. several of us mentioned those. A kid just quitting school for no reason and going pro are different things. I think those who go pro benefit the school more than they hurt it... as you said. Also, as a big time athlete on a big stage, you are on borrowed time injury wise anyway. As long as they aren't breaking any NCAA rules.... can't blame them.
  13. Dayton works with several different ESC's... can't hardly blame them. Virtually everyone in the state is trying to improve TAKS scores because of the increasing weight they hold. (which I'm sure you are aware of). I hope Kville finds a supt. that suits their needs.
  14. [Hidden Content] bottom of the page. I saw that, but I am sure that is far from the truth. Just another attempt by the board clown to stir the pot. : he seems to support kirbyville pretty strongly as well.
  15. were you at the game where everyone stood up and yelled random exhortations simultaneously?? I was pumped!!
  16. oh yeah, and sometimes we go just flat out buck wild and start clapping!!! it's nuts!!! note: this message brought to you by sarcasm.com
  17. :D nice one... Dayton's is extremely original....... "Go Broncos!!!" You like????
  18. I think that song was about a different type of "let's get it on!!".... but if that's what it takes to get the problem solved.... :o
  19. I know one guy on this thread that does. but I agree. Most of these guys that declare early bring their Univ. alot of publicity.
  20. he's in Nebraska as we speak.... enrolled for the spring semester.
  21. Also... I'm not too sure he played rb much before this year. This guy has college track programs all over him. No worries for LaCour as far as going to college is concerned. His brother and sister are also on track scholarships. Glad we had him this year though!!
  22. coop, what about the person who typed it? They had to type it blindfolded. ;D Who knows, it may have been the last list they ever typed. hahahaha
  23. legally ... once the FOI has been filed, it has to. Coaches know this when they apply. It may not seem fair but they know it beforehand. Correct! you've taught us well Coop!
