  1. From DCTF website: SEMIFINAL II: Dayton (12-1) vs. Kerrville Tivy (12-2) 2 p.m. Saturday, Georgetown DCTF's breakdown: What a duel we have brewing in this one. It's not just a showdown of elite quarterbacks ... it's a showdown of pass-catch combos where all four players can make legitimate claims for an All-Texas high school team spot. That's good stuff. We'll start with Dayton. Surprisingly, my inbox has not glowed with praise for Broncos QB Cody Green this year. Despite his DI interest ... despite his terrific playoff performances ... many readers seem reluctant to jump on his bandwagon. Obviously they have seen more of the Nebraska-bound talent than I have, but I would put his playoff numbers (and season numbers: 2,734 passing yards, 29 TDs and 1,353 rushing yards, 25 TDs) in pretty elite company. Looking at those totals, you don't need me to tell you he's a dual-threat kind of guy, and had he not lost last season to an injury, he might be one of the most heavily recruited guys in Texas. His primary target, A.J. Dugat, is also a statistical gold mine (1,531 receiving yards, 18 TDs and 485 rushing yards, 6 TDs), and while I said not every reader is totally buying into Green yet, they all rave about Dugat. Fast, strong and athletic, Dugat has been turning heads all year long. What are we getting at here? Dayton can score. A lot. But Kerrville Tivy would love to see this turn into a shootout. QB Colton Palmer has had an up and down season; he started off the year in grand fashion, posting rushing and passing numbers that rivaled some of the state's best. But then there was a suspension involved in the middle of the season, and he temporarily lost his job to sophomore Johnny Manziel. When Palmer returned to the lineup, Manziel was playing well enough that they started to split time under center, with Palmer taking his non-QB snaps at center. Well, last week Palmer reasserted himself as the full-time starter at quarterback, reuniting him with standout WR Logan Vick. That combination makes Tivy extremely dangerous offensively, and I'm not sure Dayton will be able to outscore a team of the Antlers' talents. As great as these two offenses are, it might be a push as to which is better. That would mean it might come down to a defensive stop or two, and in that case, I like Tivy. Padilla Poll says: Tivy by 5 Jerry's TXFB Ratings says: Tivy by 6 TexasFootball.com says: Kerrville Tivy 42, Dayton 35
  2. Thanks 7mary3 on the props for Rick! These young Broncos have no idea who Ricky Eggleston is. Pre Stewart era, Ricky has to be the greatest athlete to come thru Dayton. He played in the early 80's and was a beast. He was on varsity all four years. His senior season in 1984 our team was horrible and he carried us on his back. He was a stud in all sports and went on to be an All American at Sam Houston State. I personally think AJ Dugat is the best athlete to come thru Dayton but Ricky has to be mentioned and given his due. grew up hearing about him! I've even heard Stewart talk about him a little.
  3. They've given up a few I believe but I think most were very early in the year when we were still shuffling guys around. They have done a great job and are much better than last year IMO and last year wasn't too bad. Great Job to: Ray Samuels Chance McCormick Anthony St. Julian Caleb Lang Aaron Ripkowski & other reserves that have contributed. Look out for #72 Wallace Grant to possibly stay at center after filling in for Lang after he got hurt against brenham. Wallace is a big boy and did a nice job. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!
  4. so being from the hill country makes you tougher right. If you've ever been to dayton, you'd know it's pretty countryfied itself, so that one is a wash. :D Have you ever been to Kerrville...If you're 60 or under they call you a "punk kid". The entire town is old people and their parents...Its a great place, much like dayton...Stayed in Dayton for a week...neat town. "punk kid"

  6. Pampered??? AJ and Cody are both as tough as they come. I for one, never said dayton was better... never even made a prediction. Trust me, the ones that matter aren't taking tivy lightly. doesn't matter to me how tough your district is, you don't choose it and neither do we. Sounds like you may be the one doing the underestimating.
  7. KJ is speed, flat out fast and when he's in the QB is pressured. He is not an every down tackle like Jenkins or Edwards. IMO, which isn't worth much. I agree, but putting him in to change the tempo every now and then can make a huge difference. I think they use him well.
  8. the article also mentions 3 straight possessions without a 1st down in the 2nd half. That's gotta drive you nuts too! It stinks the way this all played out. I think the Jags turned a corner this year under coach stowers. Look out next year!
  9. yes... but the knee looks down.
  10. most of the fans have been respectful and realistic... although, there are a few that predict blowouts, etc. I am definitely not overconfident (not that it matters what I am), and I expect a close game. Good luck to both. We seem to match up well with each other... should be a great one!
  11. I'm sure most of the die hards have seen this already... this video is Tivy against Cibolo Steele earlier in the year. Steele led LT by 14 (i believe) at the half a couple of weeks ago.
  12. I'm in but Catfish makes me gassy! TMI bronco..... TMI
  13. Brubaker is talking about a 3rd round 25-7 win in 2001.... consult the historical section before you post and then come back and say "I got my facts straight"
  14. live blog at this site. [Hidden Content]
  15. started at 2:00 according to Tivy's school site. I'm trying to find something too.
  16. I'll definitely be watching this one.
  17. I wanna say #12 committed to tech. byrd or bird was his last name
  18. he will play friday. he wont practice until wednesday though. That won't do us any good!! Dangit!!! j/k we play saturday. Another day to heal up for Terry. We need this kid, he plays a lot of downs for us.
  19. very true... ;D
  20. I never said their talent was equal... He was the first QB that we ran the spread with and was the most like Dak in terms of elusiveness.
  21. we'd still be more run based... I'm don't think there is any way to know if Dakarai could've thrown with these guys. i think the offense would look a lot of the way it did with Calvin Davis.
  22. Yes.......... UT
  23. give him a break... he took a pretty good shot the other night.
